Imate K-Jam Pocket PC Phone (Windows Mobile 5) synchronisation problems

Could anyone advise on how to set-up and configure my imate K-Jam pocket pc phone version to synchronise with my Powerbook? I have a registered version of Pocket Mac Pro if it is of help.

Window Mobile 6.0 problems?

I have tried MI 2.5 on Windows Mobile 6.0. Sometimes it does not work properly by throwing a DNS error. I think the way we are using the advanced networking functionality in the OS is causing a problem. I would like to mention that as of Windows Mobile 6.0 we have Network Folder (Just like mapping of Network Drives in My Netwok Places in Desktop) and RDC- Remote Desktop Functionality. I feel that if the product development team, along with nsicom (CreMe), addresses the network functionality issue, we can have all our 2.5 and even 7.1 apps running smoothly with indows Mobile 6.0. Has anybody tried 2.5/7.1 apps with Windows Mobile 6.0?

yes, I have tried it and it was working fine.
Could it be, that your MI is not working when you get the DNS error? MI needs its time to start and it can be, that it is stopped because of low memory on the device. If you try to access the URL in both cases, you will get this message.
Normally, if MI is working, localhost:4444 as URL is working fine - at least to see the start screen.

Mac OS syncronizing with cell phone using Window mobile

Using HP6826 cell phone and no problem syncronizing with outlook under Window XP. Switched to Mac and using entourage. No sure if there is a way to ;
(1) transfer my outlook file to entourage?
(2) have entourage syncronizing with the phone (window Mobile based)?

Our plan is: User need to take 20sec video and audio and then

I found kuneri and with nokias it would work fine, but as a
student I can't buy again new phone?

install flash player 2.1 in the browser we get popup do download
swf file and not playing in the browser? So it's not working?
At the last post they say it should work, but How?

I was working with rmtp with normal browser, but how it works

We've encountered this problem a year ago.
There are 2 solutions :
- compress MP3/FLV at the maximum (in file size) to reduce memory consumption and set a timer of 60 seconds before loading another MP3/FLV to let the garbage collector of Flash Player to free memory.
- use an external MP3 Player (Windows Media or TCPMP), if you configure the player to launch automatically when double clicking on .mp3 files, you just have to call fscommand("launch", "test.mp3");
The problem is then to hide the MP3 Player.
Using Janus-Flash, you can "Set Top Most" Flash Player so the MP3 Player is hidden.
Using this method we managed to play 15 MB MP3, and switch almost instantly to another big MP3 file.
Check Janus-Flash Forum to find the solution. The exe to set top most is called "Janus Kiosk.exe".

WebDynpro on Windows Mobile 5.0 doesn't work

SORRY: I JUST REALISED I POSTED THIS TO THE RFID FORUM : PLEASE IGNORE.
We tried running a Web Dynpro application on an i-mate JASJAR Pocket PC running Windows Mobile 5.0 (OS 5.1.1700 (Build 14354.0.1.1), however when any action is initiated (eg press Search button), we always get the error "Application Error occured furing request processing" - parameter ''partName'' is empty.
Anyone know what this is?
These apps work find on Windows Pocket PC 2003 and in a normal PC browser. They are quite simple apps that call an R/3 BAPI - based on the usual SAP tutorials.

a). is there any contraint that the java class should be a MIDlet or some thing like J2ME stuff to run under device.
b). Can we compile a java class (J2SE the same version the vm supports) .

The latest version of WSDD 5.7 comes with .CAB file installs for Personal Profile, or MIDP 2.0/CLDC1.1. Both install an example as well I believe. For Personal Profile you need to install JARs and modify or create a shortcut run it. For MIDP, you can OTA a MIDlet or copy the JAD onto the file system and double click and it should add it to the list of available MIDlets.
You can use the WSDD IDE if you wish, or simply use anything else that can compile Personal Profile applications or MIDlets.

Missing menu items - windows mobile second edition

I have an established personal java application that runs on pocket PC with windows mobile 2003 (first edition).
WIndows 2003 (second edition) appears to have broken it in that I can see the beginnings of a menu bar but it does not appear to have any of my usual menu items within it.
I'm using the jeode JVM 1.11
Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

I haven't got anywhere with this.
I've tried changing the order of declaration and used different fonts etc.
I think what it comes down to is that the AWT "peer" of Menu or MenuBar just doesn't work on the new windows platform.
If I can get hold of a much newer version of jeode than I'm sure it would just work.
In the meantime I have tried NSICom Creme and IBM WEME (J9) and am having some success with those but things work differently so I'm looking at a complete re-test.
I've not tried JBed yet.
esmertec have not replied to my emails so I'm going to ring them soon.
Rather hoping the 500 licenses my company bought of jeode might entitle us to a cheap update.

I need to make a java application on a Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC
It has around 200 Mb of memory I think. Am I correct that I should be using J2ME?
Which JVM should I use? I will need a graphical toolkit and whatever tools are needed to use JDBC.
How do I get the JVM onto the device?

Well maybe it's not a Java ME CLDC/MIDP Thread. Depending on your PDA, you could use more than a subset of the J2SE API ... Furthermore, if you want to use JDBC, you can not use it on most Java ME phones because it's an optionnal API.
Here are some that could feet your needs (my favourite ones are first) :
* IBM's J9 VM
* Insignia's Jeode JVM
* Sun's Personal Java
* Mysaifu JVM
* NSICOM's CrEme JVM
* Access JV-Lite2 JVM

With that out of the way, I checked the HP Part Surfer website for availability of parts in South Africa and it doesn't appear the battery is orderable. Likely due to the age of the unit.
I did manage to find the part number for the battery, which should allow you to search sites like Amazon or eBay and find a replacement battery from a third party. The part number for the battery is 430689-001.

Hi Prachya,
it will not work on a PDA, because the .Net Compact Framework has only a limited instructionset of the .NET Framework and so you run into compile errors. You have to create the Proxies in Visual Studio 2003 anyway, because the .NEt connector requests Visual Studio 2003 for installation - at least this was the case 3 months ago still. once it is created you can import it to Visual Studio 2005 and use it there. But if you try to do that in a PDA App, you run into compile errors - as I said above.
I guess in your case another approach would make more sence - as you are not willing to use MI for your app.
Either you use MS SQL Server in between. On the PDA you can use SQL Everywhere/Mobile/CE (they change the name constantly, but it is the SQL Server for the PDA from MS) and connect it to an SQL server. there is a build in Sync functionality with the SQL server. You will find helpfull introductions on MSDN. And from the SQL Server you can connect to the Backend with your .Net connector. But this solution has its problems, because the build in sync with SQL server is a little tricky - and you need to license SQL server.
On the other hand: you can implement a Webservice, that connects with the PDA. This is possible with the .NEt Compact framework. And from the WebService you connect with your .NEt connector to the R/3 system. This will work fine - but you have to take care of the delta handling.
Hope this helps a little to answer your question - and why not use MI for that?

First of all, are you using a Windows Phone (windows phone 7 or 7.5) or a Windows Mobile (6.1, 6.5) phone?
Windows Mobile phones are generally not compatible with macs for USB internet tethering. They do work OK by sharing via Bluetooth or Wifi.

I made a big mistake buying a moblie Phone QTEK 9100 better known as Wizard in other countries than Switzerland.
This This is a Windows Mobile 5.0 Device with all you can think except that it does not work at all with my Mac.It is not compatile with isync at all. Wireless works sometimes and sometimes not and it has other problems too.
