  • Is there a way to check to see if an IMEI has been submitted for unlock?

I wanted to ask is there is any way to check IMEI numbers to see whether or not they have been submitted to Apple for an unlock??
I have two phones I need to check, and iPhone 4 which is my daughters and was a birthday present, and an iPhone 5 which is mine. Both are NOT blacklisted, barred, reported lost or stolen, both are legitimate phones.
The iPhone 4 was paid for in full 3 weeks ago, and is locked to VODAFONE UK. The company told me 1-3 days, three weeks later, nothing, and all I get from them now is "we will email you when its been done"
The iPhone 5 is locked to Orange/EE UK, this again was done three weeks ago, but directly through ORANGE, who tell me the unlock request has been submitted, and it is imminent but then they have me a "HOW TO" of how to unlock it, and told me this has to be done this way or it wont work??
Here is what they told me I had to do they sent this via email
Please find the process for unlocking your Apple handset:-
Before attempting the procedure, please take a moment to read the following information. Please make sure that your iphone is up to date the latest software version. This can be checked by connecting your device to iTunes via a PC/Mac/Laptop.
Please be aware that if you have used an unauthorised unlock on your Apple device then Orange cannot be held responsible for any errors that may occur, as this procedure will not only be unsuccessful, it may damage the device. If you have modified the software please update with the latest Apple approved version.
Apple devices differ from all other manufacturers in that there is no code required to enter into your device to unlock it. However Orange have requested on your behalf to Apple that your device be prepared for unlock and the procedure below advises how you can complete this process. Only handset’s that have been requested to be unlocked viaOrange or other networks can be unlocked this way and the below instruction will not work another Apple devices.
    Apple Unlock Procedure
1)Insert a non-T-mobile 3G SIM card. This must be a network provider who also supplies the iphone/ipad.
    2)Switch ON the handset.
3)Connect to iTunes using USB cable
4)Use the “restore” option within iTunes (located at the bottom of iTunes not the top)
5)The handset may then display: USB cable and iTunes icon.
    6)Disconnect from USB then re-connect
    7)Synchronise device with iTunes
8)Once synchronised a message will appear on iTunes stating “Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked” If using IOS5 this message will not show
9)Follow on screen set up instructions to enable new carrier settings
Your handset should now be successfully unlocked
Should this not show, please keep other network 3G sim in the iphone and restore the iphone via iTunes making sure all data is backed up first.

If anyone has any idea, please let me know, its driving me mad lol, two iphones, both not working

Unfortunately, many carriers "drag their feet" when it comes to processing iPhone unlock requests. All Apple does is add the phone's IMEI number to the officially unlocked database, and Apple does this immediately. The breakdown is with your carrier.
You can call AppleCare, they'll be able to tell you whether the IMEI number is in the database or not.

  • I have iphone 4 and i sent it back to my country  but it doesn't work! they told me to contact apple and give imei number so they can unlock it?

i have iphone 4 and i sent it back to my country but it doesn't works in there! so they told to to contact apple and give IMEI number so they can unlock it. can you please let me know if there is anything you can help?
    many thanks

Apple can't/won't help you. The only way to get your phone officially unlocked is to contact the carrier your phone is locked to & see if they offer official unlocking. Some do, some don't. So, if you want your phone officially unlocked, you need to contact the carrier it is locked to.
There is no other way to get your phone officially unlocked.

  • Check the lock or unlock of ip4

Hi you, I'm Dien and i come from Vietnam, i bought an old ip 4 from my friend but i don't know exactly it's lock or unlock version, pls check the IMEI number of it for me.

The only reliable way to check the locked/unlocked status of any iPhone, if you don't know, is to call AppleCare. Apple maintains the database of officially unlocked iPhones.

  • How do i use the "Alt+Ctrl+;" keyboard shortcut to Lock and Unlock Guides in Adobe Illustrator?

    Hello,
I've been trying to lock my guides in Illustrator CS5 with the default keyboard shortcut "Alt+Ctrl+;", but with no result.
When i edit this shortcut via the 'Edit/Keyboard Shortcuts...' menu, and type in the same keystroke combination for that command - so again "Alt+Ctrl+;" for "Lock Guides' - the shortcut changes from "Alt+Ctrl+;" into "Alt+Ctrl+."
This new "Alt+Ctrl+." shortcut is usable. Now the same 3 different keystrokes tabbed at the same time do lock and unlock the guides, but i'm left wondering why it is that i can't use the "Alt+Ctrl+;" combination.
There now also seems to be no way around changing the new combination into the old one again.
    I hope someone can help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Johan

Thanks Jacob. I can't seem to find a solution to my problem within the site you linked, but i'm still happy with it. Seems to be a great resource for answers.

  • How do I tell if my phone is 'locked' or 'unlocked' GSM?

How do I tell if my phone is 'locked' or 'unlocked' GSM? Thanks!!

All LTE phones (Android, iPhone, anuything) on VZW are GSM unlocked for the bands the phone supports. This is a restriction placed on Verizon due to the terms they sigend with the FCC for use of the 700 MHz spectrum for LTE.
An iPhone 5 will work fine on T-Mobile or AT&T's GSM networks with 3G. They are not compatible for LTE due to the hardware included in the phone.
If you want to tell, borrow a nano-SIM from someone with an AT&T or T-Mobile iPhone 5, place it in your phone, and watch as it works.

  • File Lock - How to lock and unlock a file ? Can we do that for an FTP File?

    Hi All,
I like to retrieve a file from the FTP server using Apache Commons Net libraries.
for example if the file size is 20MB. When the file is in the progress of copying or transferring from the FTP server i need to lock the local file which is in our local directory so that no other process will use the same local file which is in the process of copying otherwise partially copied files will be used by another process.
the file should be locked when it was in the progress of copying from the server. I have an automatic process which will access file objects at certain time and try to process the files.
I like to know the simplest and easiest way to lock and unlock a file object locally which is trying to copy a file from the FTP server which is of huge size.
And also i like to know how to lock and unlock a file in general?
    Thanks,
    J.Kathir

we can set it read only only when it complete finishing the writing.
can we able to make the file as read-only while transferring data to file.
How to achieve it ? pls give me some sample code

  • "The drive where windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again."

Have an Envy M6-K010DX notebook. Due to an internet problem while upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1, the PC doesn't properly boot and Windows Explorer won't load. Decided to 'Refresh' the OS and went to the F11 restore utilities. When I go to the refresh utility and follow the prompts I reach a message that says, "The drive where windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again." I've searched support for unlocking instructions and aside from some bootrec commands (that didn't work - probably because I don't have a Win 8 disk) not much is available.
The only access I have for running commands is via the Task Manager and F11 command prompt. What is this 'locked' drive, anyway? Does anyone have any information on this?
    This question was solved.

Its hard to say if it the data is accessable or if the file system is corrupted or not.
Recuva is a free utility to recover files that are missing due to deleting or reformatting.
Not all of the data will be recoverable now but perhaps most of it is.
If Recuva cannot detect anything, I doubt a paid program will do any better.
You can plug the old drive into a sata port on a desktop PC or you can purchase a usb adapter to use on another laptop.
If you go with a USB adapter, get one thats usb 3.O if possible.

  • DV Stream Export Settings, Locked or Unlocked Audio

When capturing VHS tapes into Final Cut Express, I always keep my Canopus ADVC110 at the default settings, including locked audio.
I don't understand why Final Cut Express' export as DV Stream includes a little box to check or uncheck, for locked or unlocked audio. The FCE default is unchecked (unlocked), and I've been keeping it that way during export.
What does this do to the DV file?

Ok, I understand. Me too. I archive photos, video & audio - TIFF for stills, AIFF for audio, but for video I wouldn't pick DVStream. It's not really like TIFF or AIFF. DVStream is the format recorded on miniDV tapes and at this point is reaching technological obsolescence.
If you're trying to digitally preserve your VHS videos, QuickTime Movie would be far preferable to DVStream, technically today as well as considering its forward life. The codecs are the same, but the contents of the files are different. DVStream interleaves the audio, video & control streams (which is why it's so difficult to edit). QuickTime contains parallel video, audio & control tracks.
If you have captured your material via a Canopus ADVC, you are editing QuickTime/DV-NTSC in Final Cut. When you export to QuickTime Movie you are getting the exact same material. When you export to QuickTime Conversion to DVStream, FCE has to parse all your video & audio and reassemble it into the chunks required to assemble the DVStream file. To use the file in the future you will need software that supports DVStream. Even today, while FCE can work with DVStream, it has to render the audio before it's usable. Doesn't have to do that with QuickTime. There are even more issues, but I think you get the point.

  • I live outside the US and am confused if i should get a locked or unlocked Iphone 4s?

I live outside the US and probably will not move their either. I am confused if i should purchase a locked or unlocked IPhone 4S. I travel frequently but buy a sim card for each country i travel so i want a phone that i can insert any sim card into. At the same time i also want it so that if i move to the US it will work their too. PLZ HELP FAST!!

Did you read the specs I linked to? All iPads have a sim card slot for local sim cards regardless of where worldwide. Again, a local carrier must offer local iPad data plans and a local sim card.
The Verizon, etc. carrier designations only have significance in the USofA where two networks are avaialable, GSM and CDMA. In the USofA if you subscribe to a USofA carrier using CDMA then you must purchase the iPad designed to use CDMA. But again and per the specifications,  any post iPad2 iPad, GSM or CDMA will work worldwide on GSM networks.
