IMEI blocking in UK

I have just had my N95 stolen! It was not set up to ask for a phone unlock code on power on. I have reported it stolen to my operator and they have blocked the SIM/IMEI. I am concerned that someone may still be able to access the contacts/calendar on the phone memory though. When an IMEI is blocked does it diable the phone immediately and when someone tries to power it on can they access any of the menus etc.. or not when the IMEI has been blocked?

Yeah all the hidden media files.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Sorry to hear that your son lost his phone.
To block the IMEI you should first contact the police to report it as lost/stolen. Then contact the operator to have the IMEI blocked.
If your son had MyXperia or Android device manager enabled you may be able to see where the phone is from myxperia.sonymobile.com and/or https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager

  • Imei blocked phone os upgrade, imei blocked phone os upgrade, imei blocked phone os upgrade

I previously IMEI blocked my iphone 4S because I lost it once, but after a few months I've found it back and I unblocked the IMEI again, but dare not to upgrade it to iOS7 because I am afraid that the Major telco is gonna block it again. Is that possible?

LOL I was being silly...I dropped my phone somewhere in my very huge luggage bag and the battery dies there, then I blocked it overseas (bought it when I went to study my twinning programme to England),when I got back from there to my home country, my mom found the phone after a few months when she was going to use the travelling bag, hence, the troubles to unblock it from my home country really scares me to have to do it again, that's why I wanna make sure of it. I can't risk calling them back if it is blocked again as their charges was quite high, can't afford it now.
So? You guys can be sure that I should be able to upgrade the OS? Thank you for your swift replies and sorry for doubting...just wanna double confirm it.

Apple cannot block IMEI-numbers, only carriers have the ability to do that. Contact your carrier for more help.

  • Stolen iPad , how to IMEI block or track it?

Hi, Apologise if I posted this in the wrong section. But my iPad and Macbook Pro have recently been stolen. I've reported the event to the police, all I have left is the iPad box with it's IMEI number. The Police have asked me to call my carrier or Apple for assistance in tracking my iPad so that they can allocate and return my stolen items "over $7000+". iPad is my only hope left.
I've been reading about lost/stolen iPad, I've called my carrier and requested an IMEI block, but all they did was disable the service associated with the microsim. Police also asked me to call Apple in regard to this matter, but as I read through topics of topics of lost iPhone/iPad. It seems that either Apple really do not have the ability to track it down or they do not want to do so. MobileMe seems to be the only way.
I had location service on when it was stolen, but I am afraid they have done a restore with itune or changed the microsim. I wish to ask if Apple can help or not in this matter, if they do, which department should I contact? If they won't help, can I do a IMEI block on the device at the very least? Thank you for any advices and ideas!
Any ideas or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Rights... I see the logic here, I have a 3G wifi ipad, my carieer would even lied to me about they did the IMEI block which they didn't cause I checked on the amta data base. They want the person whoever using the stolen iphone to get another simcard, the carieer get benefits from it.
As for the person who lost the ipad, would be likely to get another via insurance or buying another on the market. The ultimate bingo goes to Apple, means they sell more ipads!
I could not help but have a thought of the fact that both carrier providers and apple are indirectly encouraging uses of stolen devices. They would had at least allow consumer to block out their stolen device when given reasonable proofs. If I didn't lose my ipad and then find out knowing how hopeless it can get losing
    an apple device.
Especially device of high demands like an ipad, which is used by people to store lot of information on it and I guess at least some of it is very private and important and they are on a criminal's hand. I have tried MobileMe, but I also realise that they can simply use another sim card and still be able to used the device and access the information inside, all they need to do is turn off location service or a restore with itune.
Apple should at least provide some security option for the orignal owner of the device to disable the device via an IMEI block via itune which will disable the device rendering it useless, or if device is restored, the data will also be erased for good by implementing some of mac complete erase options into itunes.
Just a angry thought about my loss. Sorry for the attidue, I did love my ipad.

  • I'm so confused as to what an IMEI block does

My iPhone was stolen and I've had it IMEI blocked. O2 tell me repeatedly that this means the iPhone is a brick with no functionality whatsoever.
Even if the thief turned of all networks, wifi, 3G, findmyiPhone.......
The phone just switched off when the block was put in place and would never start.
I asked about the possibility of the stolen phone being immediately taken to a lead lined room with no contact with the outside world but was told that once the bar is in place the iPhone was a useless brick.
How could the iPhone possibly know about a bar in this case?
It doesn't make sense. It's not magic!!
Surely the iPhone needs to know about a bar.
A thief turning off all connectivity and taking the phone to a lead lined room could surely peruse my unlocked iPhone and its information as long as he liked. But O2 have assured me (13 times) that my iPhone is a brick though they have no proof that the iPhone has 'received' the bar.
I'm confused as to how they can guarantee my data security like this.

This has nothing to do with the data on your phone. All this means is that your phone cannot be activated for cellular service in the UK, nothing more. It can still be used as an iPod touch, or shipped out of the UK & activated for service elsewhere in the world. There is no "world-wide" blacklist.

  • Stolen my macbook pro , how to IMEI block?

Help me, I wanna block my mac book pro by IMEI, I never activate Find Me

I am sorry your notebook is stolen.
    IMEI is for phones.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Mobile_Station_Equipment_Identity
To locate and diable your MacBook Pro Find My Mac needed to be enabled BEFORE it was stolen.  You maybe able to locate the machin knowing the MAC address or if it checks email automatically.  But those are pretty remote options.
    Again, I am sorry.

  • IMEI Blocking from Apple Care USA due to stolen IPhone

My IPhone 5 was stolen recently. In Indonesia, the carrier nor Apple Centre could blocking the IMEI Number. Is it possible if Apple Care in the USA does that for me? I only used it for a week and I feel devastated. Thanks for help.

No. Apple does not block/track phones If you were running iOS7 and had find my Phonre enabled you can try to remote wipe the phone. When the thief tries to activate the phone he will be unable to do so as your AppleID/password will be required.

  • IPhone 4 via IMEI blocked?

    Hello,
first sorry for my bad english.
I have applied one, I'm 2 weeks ago my iphone was stolen. the only thing I have now are my backups and my IMEI number.
The police has also been informed.
Now I wanted to ask whether it would be possible to locate my iPhone via IMEI?
Even though now the "new" owner may use a different SIM card.
This would help me do all the work a little.
Since this is the biggest Apple forum with a lot of experienced users here I thought I would ask here directly after the best.
Many thanks to apologize in advance.
    With best regards

  • IMEI Blocked by Apple?

    Hello,
Iv had this phone for a few years, the iphone 3g 8gb model.
the problem with it is that it simply just does not pick up any signal to any network in exsistence expect orange-tmobile but not orange...
it will registered showing either 02, Orange, T-mobile but have no signal strenght, and calls are revoked.
the only explanation is that apple has blocked the phone. not the providers.
iv done a checkmend report on the phone and its clean. never stolen, claimed, broken nothing! what is happening..
I WANT HELP from Apple not someone saying oh well if you have no warranty... go shoot yourself..
    can someone in apple check?

No Apple employees post in this forum or are available to help you. If you would like information from Apple, you need to contact Apple, otherwise I recommend you call the carrier and ask them if any issues could be presented on their side.

but i buy this phone unlock condition no contract,,
    what should i do??

Contact your wireless provider. Some offer IMEI blocking, some do not.
If you were using iOS 7 with Activation Blocking, the iPhone is useless to
anyone without knowledge of the email you used for activation and the
    associated password.

  • How can i block my lost stolen iphone 4s with IMEI

my phone was stolen this last sept 2 how can i block my lost stolen iphone 4s with IMEI

Contact your wireless carrier for IMEI blocking. If you did not have a passcode on your
iPhone, immediately change the passwords to all accounts you accessed
    while using your iPhone.

  • If an Iphone4s is stolen, and the person took out my SIM card and restored it to factory settings, can my service provider still track it? I don't know my IMEI number if that is needed

someone stole my friend's Iphone4s today, and I want to know if it can be traced if the person took out the SIM card and restored it. I also want to know if her service provider can block the phone from use if there is no SIM in there and it is restored. thanks.

It cannot be traced. The service provider can block registration of the phone if it is a US carrier based on the IMEI. If you have the serial number Apple can tell you the IMEI. However, many stolen phones are shipped to other countries, where IMEI blocking for phones from other countries may not be honored. And a sophistcated thief or fence can change the IMEI.
If your friend did not have a passcode lock on the phone they should immediately change all passwords for email, twitter, facebook, bank sites - essentially anywhere that they use a password. Even if the phone had a passcode lock it is safer to change the passwords.

Apple does not get involved with lost or stolen items.  A carrier may offer IMEI blocking (non in the USA currently do, but elsewhere some do).  Your carrier would already know your IMEI number anyway, so just contact them and ask them about it.
It is VERY good that you had a passcode lock on the device.  That means your personal information will be safe.  And yes, after 10 failed attempts (each with increasing time out between allowing another attempt) the device will permanently lock them out until they restore the device in iTunes.  Anyone can go ahead and restore your iPhone as new in iTunes, but that also wipes everything off it and restores it to new condition - which does mean they can go off and use it as theirs, but at least all your data is gone.
Did you file a police report it was stolen?  Also your carrier should be told (and ask them about IMEI blocking).  Sorry it is gone, but you did the best thing possible to protect yourself and your information when you set up that passcode lock.
