IMEI & ICCID Unknown

iphone 3GS currently has image of the itunes icon and a usb cord. if i click the i symbol it has a IMEI # & a ICCID #, both UNKNOWN on the screen. When the phone is on, it is not even detected in itunes, or does not even charged. It only charges when i turn off my phone. its a factory unlocked piece, but not in warranty now. What to do??, please help me out how can i recover it?...

If I charge my iphone, it shows "IMEI unknown, ICCID unknown"
I already tried to restore with Itunes, and couldn't be done
it tells "ERROR 1611"
What can i do? Please help...

That indicates a critical failure. It can not be fixed. The phone will need to be replaced.
Often, this is the result of attempting to update a jailbroken phone.

IMEI: Unknown ICCID: Unknown need to restore but how?

My Iphone 3GS is displaying a message IMEI: Unknown ICCID: Unknown and will not allow me to get past the lock screen on the phone. I also have a message that says that I have to restore through Itunes but when I plug the phone in Itunes cannot access the phone b/c of my password protection. I only have the option to make emergency calls and have no option to unlock the phone. I have tried multiple resets and have removed and replaced the sim card. What do I do?

If you can't force the phone into recovery mode you can try DFU mode:
1. Close iTunes.
2. Connect your iPhone to your computer and then launch iTunes.
3. Turn your iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone).
4. Then, hold down the sleep/wake button and home button together for EXACTLY 10 SECONDS, then release the sleep/wake button.
5. Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected. When you are in DFU mode your iPhone screen will be completely black. Remember that if you see the restore logo, iTunes logo, or any message on the iPhone screen, you are not in DFU mode but standard Recovery Mode.
6. Hit the OK message that should popup to restore your phone.
Bear in mind, you could very well have suffered a hardware failure. IMEI & ICCID unknown are indicative of a hardware failure. You will not be able to restore your phone if, in fact, it has suffered a hardware failure. Your next step would be to make an appointment at an Apple store.

ive got my iphone 4 from london , and i live in kuwait , when i put my sim and turned on my iphone it works for a about 10 mins ... and get the No service , mostly happens when i use the cellular data thing from the 3G .. and when i restart my iphone i get the IMEI And The ICCID Uknown ... so i googled and saw some topics in the website .. and said that the iphone needs to be replaced ...
now the problem is ive sent my iphone with a friend to london .. and they said they cant refund nor replace it .. they claim that it works perfectly there without any problem .. and i got it back tried it and still didnt work ,, sent it back to london a week later .. and they still wont refund or replace , but before i sent it , ive took a screen shot for the IMEI ICCID unknown problem , so they dont say it works perfectly , surprisengly they did , and theyve seen the screen shot , and still ... and did i mention its under the warranty ?

AFAIK, the iPhone is not officially supported by any carrier in Kuwait, nor is it officially sold there yet. I suspect this is part of your problem & why the phone tests fine in London & won't work where you live. Regardless, there is not much you can do if Apple has told you twice that your phone is fine. How did you obtain your micro sim? Did you cut down a regular sim? Perhaps your problem is the sim you're trying to use isn't being read properly.

put your phone in DFU mode, google how to put phone in DFU and then connect to itunes and restore the phone it should fix the issue.

While it could be a hardware problem (if so, take it to Apple for replacement), it is also a common sign that your attempted baseband update, (or hack) did not apply correctly. Whether it is reparable is not something for discussion on these forums.

IPhone 3GS first gives warning: unknown IMEI and unknown ICCID! Restoring failes with error 1002!

My iPhone 3GS suddendly couldn't connect to the mobile provider's network. As I was in a rural place, I though this was because of bad coverage. It was then still possible to use Wi-Fi. After a while the phone asked to connect to itunes and gave the following warning: unknown IMEI and unknown ICCID.
I tried recovering it but procedures failes after hours with error 1002.
Is there a fix for this problem or do I need to go to a service center?

Thanks Carolyn, I've tried all the options, but still it does not finish the recovering process. It stops with still a half millimeter on the statusbar .
Will probably just have to go to a service center. I already read that more people have the same problem and no one found a solution. As I am abroad and my iPhone largely exceeded the warranty time, I wonder what they will charge.

I Phone Restore Problem IMEI Unkown, and ICCID Unknown

My iphone 3g will not find the 02 simcard, and when i turn it on it goes staight to the defult start up screen, IMEI Unknown, ICCID Unknown when i plug it into itunes it says that there is no sim card in the iphone even though it is in the iphone and it works perfectly in my older phone. This is not a jail broken iphone 3g, I brought it in the O2 shop brand new it has been working fine. this haperned after i was charging my iphone from the plug charger when it went completly flat i charged it back up, and i have tried turning it on and of, and taking out the sim.

i had that problem twice, the first time i was able to get it to work again but now it doesnt work so i have to send it in, but what you can do is put it in "DFU mode" which is a full compleatly factory setting restore which formats the WHOLE thing!
first you shut the phone off either hold the sleep button and slide and turn off or if u have problem i have where it freezes up you can hold the sleep and home button till it shuts off.
next you hold the HOME button for about 30 seconds or so till iTunes tells you the phone is in recovery mode then you restore it.
this should work unless your iPhone is messed up like like mine is now.
if it doesnt work then call apple or go to the nearest apple store to fix it

My phone fell in water for literally an nano second. Got it out and while the phone was wet, it started wo issue.i placed it in bowl with rice and since then I have been recieving a imei and iccid: unknown screen. I did a bit of research and someone suggested to connect to I tunes and restore. My phone show s that it is updating and installing software. However, my phone is now flashing on and off for several seconds. What's going on? Any ideas out there??

Unknown IMEI/ICCID

Hi, after using the phone for several hours my carrier crashes and after i reboot my device i get to see the iTunes logo and when i press the sign it shows;
IMEI: UNKNOWN
ICCID: UNKNOWN
When i reconnected the iPhone several times, iTunes will activate the phone.
The phone is bought at a local retail store, and is factory unlocked. If i restore it with iOS 4.2.1. it works for a few hours and after that it stops again.

There are no officially unlocked iphones sold in the US from official sources. If your phone was sold to you as unlocked, it was either hacked to unlock it(likely) or is an import from an official source that sells officially unlocked iPhones(highly unlikely). If I were in your shoes, I'd retun the phone & get my money back.

Unknown IMEI & ICCID on 3G iPhone

My 3g iPhone seems to have lost it's IMEI & ICCID id's and as a result it refuses to restore or sync with my macbook. for what it's worth it has the 2.2.1 software which has been loaded almost since the release.
Any ideas please ?

If you haven't already, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.
To reset the iPhone hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple logo as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743

If the iPhone shows the default IMEI, it will likely need service.

IMEI number unknown and in recovery mode, after putting sim card back in ?

Got my phone back today from the phone shop as the charger block needed replacing, as it wouldn't charge as it had shorted out.
Phone was working fine when got it back for good few hours without the sim in it, then when I put my sim in it went all AWOL and went into restore mode with message (IMEI number unknown) & (ICCID unknow).
The phone was on a contract with o2 and then after it finshed, was unlocked to any network by them for a pay as you go sim phone, which it has been for the last 18 month's.
I've read I may have to restore it but as there's many photo's, videos on there, they would get wiped off completely. It's running IOS 4. summit as never upadated due to not having enough room on my hard drive to ever put all the content on it for to do so, so I kept it the same and not backed anything up. Which I should of done but never had enough room as the hard drive pretty smal on the laptop, and the stuff on there thats important to delete to make space.
So if anyone knows what to do or can help that be great thanks cheer.

Once in recovery mode, all data is lost, there is nothing to recover.
The missing IMEI number suggests a serious hardware failure.
Buy a new iPhone.
Apple will not touch the device since it's been opened by someone other than Apple.

Brand new iPhone 6 ICCID unknown

As the title implies, I recently purchased a new iPhone 6 64GB from an authorized apple reseller. As I have not upgraded to the new nano SIM, the iphone has not been configured. Upon hitting the information button in the configuration screen ( the encircled "i"), the following pops up:

unknown
Is this a potential issue? Should I return this phone?

The ICCID number is in the SIM. If the SIM isn't installed then it is unknown.

A long shot but you might try using the phone to send an email to the phone asking the owner to call their mobile phone. If the owner has a computer they may get the email and get in contact with you.
But Roger's suggerstion of turning it over to the police is the best bet.

Answered in your other post. Basically your iPhone has been hacked
or otherwise modified in the past and the most recent update has not
been able to proceed due to past changes. Google may provide some
help, but more likely the iPhone is unrestoreable.
