IMEI Unknown

I have just encountered an IMEI & ICCID unknown connect to Itunes error message whilst using the phone on a holiday in the us. It now only lets m edial emergency calls but alerts me about calender meetings. I have no phone, no GPS, no wireless, no email and no access to preinstalled Apps for sat nav, travel guides and hiking Mercator mapps paid for and downloaded for my holiday in the US.
I am 3000 miles from home with apple support contracts, 1 yr warranty and cannot find any information on what to do. I connected my Iphone as requested to itunes on my portable PC but was informed iTunes cannot connect to the phone unless I key in my password which I cannot do because the phone will not let me access its applications.
Can somebody please tell me what I need to do as i seem to have wasted a lot of money on a phone and apps which no longer work but cannot determine if this is a telco or apple issue and my nerest apple store is in Chicago.
Can anybodody please advise a solution for a phone that has not been unlocked and every app has been paid for and downloaded through the apple store. My holiday is now somewhat ruined because I cannot use the phone and apps i have paid for which all seem to be working in the background because i keep getting alerts for events in my caender.
Many thanks

  • My 16b 3gs was working perfectly.  The battery died and I plugged it in correctly to charge and it also neohook up to itunes for restore.  It also had a little exclamation button that reads: IMEI:unknown and just below it read ICCID: Unknown. Nothing else

My 16gig ipone 3gs was working perfectly since it was replaced only a month or to prior.  I was visiting with some friends around the ole pipe and low and behold the phone was completly dried of it's go juice.  One we noticed I reached into the kitchen and plugged it in to the outlet.,,,  The battery died and I plugged it in correctly to charge and it also said Emergency calls only in various foriegn languages. It also said to plug it into your itunes. All the while haviing no calling options to say the least.  I followed the apple instructions perfectly when it said that there was a new version of itunes I should download first, prior to refreshing it.  It went through all of the installing and so on then at the end you still get a useless phone that doesnt work.  IMEI: unknown and ICCIC; unknown (both of which can be found by you on the box or on the sim card case.  I  completley removed the sim card and it worked in my hubbies 3g.   I tried several times and also AT&t had made sure the imei and iccic where correct.  So I spent hours getting nowhere with this.  Its new and nice and broken.. Im going to leave that Apple store with a brand new iphone 4 tomorrow.  Simply b/c it is for my pain and suffering and for giving me a crappy refurbished phone.  Fair is fair.  So if you've found a way to fix great, but Im going to get that free iphone 4  xoxo  toodllloooo

    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

  • Error 1013!!? (iPhone IMEI: Unknown ICCDI: Unknown)

    Hi,
Last week I updated my Iphone to 4.3.3 (it was 4.2.1). After two days, when I wanted to make a call but I couldn't. I realized that the network is lost and it is searching! I just tried to search the network manually, but it didn't fix. Then I turned it off and on! But as it turned on, I noticed a message that said my Iphone needed restore! Also, it said that "iPhone IMEI: Unknown ICCDI: Unknown". I tried to restore my Iphone through different ways, tiny umbrella was one of them. But it didn't work. Moreover, it is like a dead phone! In fact when I restore it, it seems that the process is finished but just at the end of restoration error 1013 pops out.
What should I do? Do you think that there is something wrong with its hardware or I can fix it by myself?
    please help me!

Moreover, it is like a dead phone! In fact when I restore it, it seems that the process is finished but just at the end of restoration error 1013 pops out.
There's some advice on that one in the following document:

  • IMEI: Unknown ICCID: Unknown need to restore but how?

My Iphone 3GS is displaying a message IMEI: Unknown ICCID: Unknown and will not allow me to get past the lock screen on the phone. I also have a message that says that I have to restore through Itunes but when I plug the phone in Itunes cannot access the phone b/c of my password protection. I only have the option to make emergency calls and have no option to unlock the phone. I have tried multiple resets and have removed and replaced the sim card. What do I do?

    You're welcome.
If you can't force the phone into recovery mode you can try DFU mode:
    1. Close iTunes.
    2. Connect your iPhone to your computer and then launch iTunes.
    3. Turn your iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone).
    4. Then, hold down the sleep/wake button and home button together for EXACTLY 10 SECONDS, then release the sleep/wake button.
    5. Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected. When you are in DFU mode your iPhone screen will be completely black. Remember that if you see the restore logo, iTunes logo, or any message on the iPhone screen, you are not in DFU mode but standard Recovery Mode.
    6. Hit the OK message that should popup to restore your phone.
Bear in mind, you could very well have suffered a hardware failure. IMEI & ICCID unknown are indicative of a hardware failure. You will not be able to restore your phone if, in fact, it has suffered a hardware failure. Your next step would be to make an appointment at an Apple store.

  • IPad1 S/N and IMEI unknown at Apple Store, help?

I need your advice on an iPad1 that refuses to activate after a recent reset.
    Background:
iPad was reset the other day, then hung on the activation, stating the activation servers were not responding.  Kept trying assuming it was a problem with overloaded activation server.  Took device to Apple Store Genius Bar, he was stumped.  He searched for serial number and IMEI in his repair database, and it didn't find any records of those numbers.  Doing a serial number search on the warranty check webpage results in normal output - that the purchase date is known and the device is out of warranty.  Genius recommended I email SelfServe to ask a ticket be escalated to a group that could manually add the serial number to the update server.
I am going to do that, but I thought I would ask here first as the genius was just guessing.
    Anyone see this issue before?
    Thanks:
If it helps, here are the original numbers:
    SN#: gb0430ldhp3
    IMEI: 012326007209047

    More followup, closer to solution.
Took iPad to Apple store to ask Genius to open incident for me, as I am unwilling to pay incident charge just to activate my working hardware.
Got to see the same Genius from other day, he decided to call Apple, talked with Software support, escalated to a supervisor.
Found out the device originally started out as a demo iPad for an ATT store.  Something happened in their system recently to put the SN and IMEI into an inactive status - thereby not letting it access the iTunes store to activate.  Currently I have an Apple ticket open so an engineer can re-enable the serial number.
    Keep you posted.

  • Cannot unlock iPhone with error 'IMEI: unknown, ICCID: Unknown"

    Hi
I have the above mentioned error, restore is required but I cannot connect to iTunes due to this error message below'
'iTunes counld not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter the passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.'
The problem is, I cannot go to the 'Enter Passcode' screen. Please help

    Hello:
Unfortunately, 3 weeks ago I had the same error on my iPhone 3GS. After reading and reading all about this error on discussion forums on apple.com, I had to take my iPhone to the Applce Care Center: my iPhone was completely dead and no chance to get fix. Fortunately the garantee haven't expired and I got a brand new iPhone.
    Good luck!

  • Unknown imei and unknown iccid

my iphone 4g 32 Gb after restore is showing emergency call no service and unknown imei, unknown iccid

If you are stuck on the Emergency Call Screen and have not access to your iPhone, then first step is to Restore the Firmware again, and Set Up iPhone as New.
If your iPhone is ON, then go to Settings App>Airplane Mode and toggle ON and OFF several times to see if you get reception bars, obviously leave it OFF.
If still problem, Settings App>General>Reset near bottom>Reset Network Settings.
If still problem, Restore Firmware and Set Up as New.
If still problem and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take iPhone to Apple for resolution of this problem.

  • IMEI and ICCID unknown

Hi everyone. My 3Gs has just advised me it needs to be Restored and cannot make or receive calls I have also clicked on the little information button and it tells me the IMEI and ICCID are unknown.
I plugged it into iTunes and was advised the iPhone I conected is not recognised and cannot be activated for service. It is recommended I visit my nearest Apple store for more information.
This has happened before and when I tried to restore it, it kept giving me the Error Code 1013 (unknown.) I had it restored yesterday at a Vodafone store (the local seller and network provider for the iPhone) and it was working perfectly until this evening (a whole 24 hours of use.) The Restore he did also installed the new iOS4.
Has anyone else come across this problem and can advise of what can be done to rectify it?
    Thanks in advance.

I bought a brand new 3GS in March. Now it keeps doing same thing: imei:unknown iccid: unkown
. Well, in the end you have to RESTORE your phone. However, if you leave it long enough, it'll actually fix itself somehow (Fully charged battery? Reset? I don't know why it suddenly fixes itself). Then the problem will be opening apps. Just install and update or get a free app, it fixes the closing windows.
My question: WHY? This is the 8TH TIME IT HAS STOPPED WORKING, THE 3RD I'VE ACTUALLY HAD TO FULLY RESTORE!! This SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING WITH A 4 MONTH OLD PHONE!
The WORST part (Can ANYTHING BE WORSE??)?! The nearest Apple Store: 3 hours away!!!!!!!!!
Best Buy where I purchased all 3 of our family's IPhone LITERALLY told me, "Well, I'm sorry you didn't buy the black tie protection" and the guy LITERALLY HUNG UP ON ME!!!!!!
Of course I called back requesting a manager.
This is a TRAVESTY! I had NOT even installed the newer versions of the IPHone updated software OR ITunes-so I KNOW it's NOT that. It's STILL occurring AFTER I DID Update: I KNOW it's NOT that!
How many hourse am I going to need to waste on this? My suggestion: The 1ST TIME IT DOES THIS: INSIST! INSIST THEY GET YOU A NEW PHONE!!!! It's NOT something that's going to go away!!!!

  • I Phone Restore Problem IMEI Unkown, and ICCID Unknown

My iphone 3g will not find the 02 simcard, and when i turn it on it goes staight to the defult start up screen, IMEI Unknown, ICCID Unknown when i plug it into itunes it says that there is no sim card in the iphone even though it is in the iphone and it works perfectly in my older phone. This is not a jail broken iphone 3g, I brought it in the O2 shop brand new it has been working fine. this haperned after i was charging my iphone from the plug charger when it went completly flat i charged it back up, and i have tried turning it on and of, and taking out the sim.

i had that problem twice, the first time i was able to get it to work again but now it doesnt work so i have to send it in, but what you can do is put it in "DFU mode" which is a full compleatly factory setting restore which formats the WHOLE thing!
first you shut the phone off either hold the sleep button and slide and turn off or if u have problem i have where it freezes up you can hold the sleep and home button till it shuts off.
next you hold the HOME button for about 30 seconds or so till iTunes tells you the phone is in recovery mode then you restore it.
this should work unless your iPhone is messed up like like mine is now.
if it doesnt work then call apple or go to the nearest apple store to fix it

  • Unknown IMEI/ICCID

    Hi, after using the phone for several hours my carrier crashes and after i reboot my device i get to see the iTunes logo and when i press the sign it shows;
    IMEI: UNKNOWN
    ICCID: UNKNOWN
When i reconnected the iPhone several times, iTunes will activate the phone.
The phone is bought at a local retail store, and is factory unlocked. If i restore it with iOS 4.2.1. it works for a few hours and after that it stops again.

There are no officially unlocked iphones sold in the US from official sources. If your phone was sold to you as unlocked, it was either hacked to unlock it(likely) or is an import from an official source that sells officially unlocked iPhones(highly unlikely). If I were in your shoes, I'd retun the phone & get my money back.

  • IPhone 3GS Not Turning On After Being Dropped

I dropped my 3GS on a tile floor today (NOT in water)and now its malfunctioning.
When I plug it into the wall charger it turns on an i get this screen: http://i53.tinypic.com/29zsvhx.png
I can only make emergency calls.
I can also click this little i and it says: *IMEI: unknown ICCD: unknown*
I have no clue what this means.
Whenever I unplug it from the wall the screen automatically goes black and i get this: http://i53.tinypic.com/2utnuol.jpg
The screen works fine when its plugged into the wall and there are no black spots where there isn't a picture.
When i plug it into the computer, and more specifically iTunes, nothing happens. It doesn't even turn on.
Ive tried doing a hard reset when its plugged into the wall (I cant other wise) and nothing changed, it went back to that same screen in the first picture.
I cant for the life of me figure out whats wrong with this thing, help?

    It's broken. Probably beyond repair.
IF there is no visible sign of damage, they might cover it under warranty, if it's still under warranty. Otherwise, you're probably going to have to investigate 3rd party repair or just get a new phone.

  • Iphone 3gs won't start at all.

Hi, i have a Iphone 3gs and i was charging it last night, when it was done i took it off the charger and put it in my pocket, about 20 minutes later it completely shut off. I've had this happen to me before and i held the home and start button and it worked, and recovered all the data and has been working great. So I did the same thing this time, and nothing has happened, I've tried it multiple times, and have even tried to get it in DFU mode. I waited all night thinking it might just need to cool down, and it still did not work. I bought my phone from Best-Buy and am willing to take it back to see if they could send it in and fix it, but i would rather not go through that hassle, if anyone has any ideas, it would be really helpful. Thanks a bunch.

My 3Gs broke down totally after upgrading to 4.1
    I think i had 3.1.3 before.
The display shows the iTunes icon with the usb connection and also imei:unknown, iccid:unknown. When i connect to iTunes says no Sim installed even if there is...the device is unusable.
    Please,anyone can help?
