IMessage accidentally turned off. Can I now retrieve ones that were sent to me?

I accidentally turned off iMessages for the past few weeks. Now that I turned it back on, is there any way I can retrieve the messages? My friends that sent me iMessages said their phones claimed the messaged were "delivered." Are they lost in space?

I think iMessage is like the Bump App. It could be akin to an immediate "peer to peer" type arrangement coordinated by Mother Apple.
Your device (iPod, iPad, iPhone) tells Mother Apple, via the internet (Wifi or 3G) that mobile No. or an eMail address is "online" and can receive messages.
People who want to message you from their devices are doing the same thing in "advertising" their presence and availability to Mother Apple with their "addresses" which could be phone numbers or eMail addresses.
When you want to send a message then it basically goes via Mother Apple who matches you up and makes the connection. If the other party drops off the internet during the messaging session for any reason, then, whilst your message is considered by Mother Apple to be "delivered" it is not actually received. I don't think Mother Apple have the facility to "hold" or store messages for later delivery, they are just the "exchange". Mother Apple could, however, snoop on conversations and this might be in the fine print of the terms and conditions.
If iMessage (ie an internet connection) is not available, then the SMS will most likely be sent as per the 3G network.
Re-registering your device is probably not a bad idea !

Lost Pages Document when Computer Turned off---Can it be retrieved?

any chance documents that i'm working on in pages & haven't saved can be retrieved if the computer is turned off?
was working on something all day, left, came back to continue, but computer somehow had turned off and I can't find it.
is there a place that "drafts" in pages are saved? or documents in pages that have never been saved?

There is also an AppleScript able to autosave iWork's documents.
Not only it saves the doc in the native format but it saves a time stamped zip archive allowing us to recover file if the HD crash.
File recovery tools are unable to recover iWork's native documents but they are able to recover zip archives.

iMessage on my phone somehow got switched off while I was traveling abroad. I didn't realize it about a week after I got back to the US (and realized I wasn't receiving texts from certain friends). I compose an iMessage with the destination as my email address and I attach 2 photos I want on my PC. I send them several times from my iPhone 5C but they never arrive. I look at my ipad later and realize that it's iMessage app is getting ( and swallowing) these emails. I then turn the ipad off. Still can't get the photos through because iphone is now getting them on it's iMessage. I turn off the iMessage feature and try to send photos from text msging. Phone tells me it can't send photos unless iMessage it turned on. What happened to regular MMS text messaging? I go and try to send photos as an email attachment and see that there is no option to attach from the stupid email program. I look up online to learn about the brave new world of apple attachments and send them.

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

The problem is your friend's music does not belong to you. It is owned by your friend.
I'm afraid you cannot do what you are trying to do. Restoring the iPhone is what you would have to do.
In the future, put your music on the computer and transfer it to the iPhone, not the other way.

Elliot probably has your solution. You have to tap a text field - anywhere that text can be entered - in order for the keyboard to pop up but you can also try these basic steps
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
