  • Activation Failure

We've been trying to get our Verizon DSL set up for days now, but activation never goes through. It always fails out with the message "WARNING: Your account has not been activated. You will not be able to use your broadband connection until this problem is resolved. Please call Verizon Support."  Verizon support has been absolutely awful so far.  I've spoken to 4 different agents so far, the only advice I get is "reboot your router."  On top of that, I have to explain the situation all over again to each rep, and usually multiple times to each rep before they finally understand what I'm saying. Every single agent I've talked to so far has insisted on running line tests, usually multiple times, only to tell me everything looks great.  One rep told me, and I quote, "If your service is activated, why don't you just stop going to the activation page?"  Really?! If Verizon would stop routing me to the registration page over and over again, I woudn't need assistance. Sometimes, after a reboot of the router, I'll get a page that says "Due to an account related issue, your Verizon service has been suspended. Please click continue below to begin the process to restore your services."  This of course links back to the activation page, which always greets me with "Your account has been activated"... but still requires me to sign in to "complete a few more steps."  I am so beyond frustrated.  The last agent I spoke with actually refused to send an agent out because "it's a problem on our end."  Is anyone else having activation failures?  I couldn't seem to find this anywhere else, but I have absolutely no faith in Verizon tech support to fix it.  We supposedly have a second modem on the way from Verizon and an open ticket for the issue, but judging from the previous topics in this forum, that apparently doesn't mean much for Verizon tech support.  If this keeps up much longer, we'll have no choice but to cancel the service.  No use paying for something that doesn't even work.
So far, I've tried rebooting the router at least 10 times.  Did 3 resets of the router by holding in the reset button.  Tried signing into the activation page with order number, by name / zip, by phone / zip, cleared browser cache, used Chrome and IE, power cycled PC, nothing.  The router is connected fine, all lights are green and good.  Another problem I noticed is I'm unable to log into the router settings through a web browser.  Default username / password for the D-Link 2750B router I have are supposed to be "admin" and "password", even listed on Verizon's site, but they don't work.  Even after my service is up, not sure how I'm going to configure my WiFi without logging into router settings.

OK, good news and bad news.
Bad News: You will have to figure out why you can't get into your modem/router. If you call tech support and specify that you only want help getting into your modem, they may be able to help.
Good News: This sounds like it might be an issue with the redirect setting. Once you can get into your modem (see bad news above), go to 192.168.1.1/verizon/redirect.htm - You are looking for a disable button. Click on it, and your issue *should* be resolved.

  • IMessage Activation could not sign in IOS 8.1.3

I recently had to erase my phone and restore from the cloud.  After doing so, I have been unable to turn on iMessage or FaceTime.  I'm receiving an error message when I log into iMessage with my AppleID stating "iMessage Activation.  Could not sign in.  Please check your network connection and try again."
Tons of threads out there about this.  I've tried every solution posted though.  I started simple....
    - Tried everything from http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201422
    -  -  - Confirmed wifi and cellular connections
    -  -  - Confirmed Date & Time was set to automatically
    -  -  - Turned off, restarted, turned on
    -  -  - Confirmed latest version of IOS (8.1.3)
Then I tried solutions from the internet...
    - Turn off IMessage, turn it back on, tried signing into iMessage
    - Turn off IMessage, put on airplane mode, turn airplane mode off, tried signing in
    - All of the above, and restarted the phone
    - Confirmed no restrictions
    - Turned off wifi, tried signing in over cellular
    - Entered correct AppleID and incorrect password, then when it prompted I entered correct password.
    - Reset all network settings,  set up wifi again, tried signing in
    - Reset ALL settings
What perplexes me is how the phone is able to recognize my AppleID in other areas, such as the iCloud & iTunes.... it logs in just fine.  Also, if I put a bogus AppleID into iMessage, it immediately recognizes a bad password.
Somebody please toss me a bone here.

So far, I've called Apple support twice with no resolution.  I have another call in this morning, though I do not know what else there is left to try.
    - We've tried signing my apple id out of all my devices (ipad, ipod, etc).
    - We've tried using itunes to restore the phone
    - We've tried setting the phone up as a new phone, and signing in to only iMessage
I speculate this is related to the latest IOS release; 8.1.3

  • Since update 8.1.3. iMessage activation "an error occurred during activation. try again"an

SSince update 8.1.2---iMessage activation will not occur. Says "an error occurred during activation.  Try again

The update to iOS 8.1.3 was supposed to fix that issue, not cause the problem. Unfortunately, it didn't work for many. take a look at one of these two ongoing discussions. You might be able ro find help in one of them.

iMessage activation fails: could not sign in. It waits for activation endlessly.
The issue started with contacts not being available for iMessage. I ended up not being able to sign in on both Mac and iPhone. Everything works fine on my iPad though.
Any ideas other than those posted around here? iMessage is becoming a real pain.

    Hello, Hannaabe.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I see you have already been through most of the troubleshooting steps for this issue.  Make sure to take a look at the section below labeled If you've waited 24 hours and still can't activate FaceTime or iMessage.
If you see "Waiting for Activation", "Activation unsuccessful", or "An error occurred during activation"
These messages occur when your iPhone is trying to activate your phone number with iMessage or FaceTime.
To resolve these status messages, follow these steps. After each step, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Make sure that you have a cellular network connection with your cellular provider. You need a cellular network connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
Go to www.apple.com in Safari to make sure that you have a data connection. You need a data connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
Make sure that you can send and receive SMS. You need a valid SMS messaging plan to activate FaceTime and iMessage.
Make sure that FaceTime hasn't been restricted: tap Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
Set iPhone to the correct time zone: tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: If Set Automatically is on but the incorrect time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.
Contact your carrier to verify that there are no restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messages. Restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messaging will prevent iMessage and FaceTime registration from completing.
If "Waiting for Activation" still appears after you perform these steps, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime. You may need to wait up to 24 hours to complete activation. Most attempts will take less than an hour, but some attempts may take up to 24 hours. If your issue isn't resolved after 24 hours, please contact Apple for assistance. If you've recently performed a remote wipe on your iPhone, wait 24 hours from the time you performed the remote wipe, and then turn iMessage off then back on.You can still activate iMessage and FaceTime with your Apple ID when these status messages appear. You can see that you've activated FaceTime and iMessage with your Apple ID by tapping:
Settings > FaceTime > You can be reached by FaceTime at:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:
If you've waited 24 hours and still can't activate FaceTime or iMessage
If you're still unable to resolve the symptoms above after performing these troubleshooting steps, please contact Apple for assistance.

  • Imessage activation could not sign in - Issue

    Iphone 4s,
Error - imessage activation could not sign in please check your network connection
Updated the new IOS 8.1.1 a few days back and this error keeps coming up when I try to sign in and activate i messages, it's been like this for a few days now and I've tried all the suggestions mentioned, any ideas?
    Cheers

This may sound silly but after trying loads of different things I noticed I made one mistake in the advice in a previous thread.
If i message and face time do not work and you can't sign in to i message with your id and pw try the below in this order, I tried it in different sequence and it didnt work. So try exactly as is below.
    1) turn off i messages in the settings-> Messages menu
    2) turn off face time in settings -> Face time menu
    3) Turn off phone
    4) leave phone off for one minute(not sure if this length of time matters but worked for me so)
    5) Turn on phone
    6) Check that i messages and face time automatically turned themselves on again and you should now be able to use your messages & face time.
Hope this can help someone else at some stage.
    Good Luck.

  • IMessage Activation

I can't activate iMessage.  I sign in with my Apple ID, but I always get the message:
"Could not sign in.  Please check your internet connection and try again."
AND I HAVE A STRONG INTERNET CONNECTION!!!
    A little help?

I tried everything everyone else had ever listed, including a full reset and restore as a NEW phone all to no avail.
As a last ditch attempt, I changed the password on my iCloud account, which was 32 characters long and made it 24. imessage activated instantaneously. Hallelujah and all that jazz.
    Changing the password was easy.
Don't as me why but it did. All the other fixes with reboots, resets, airplane mode, time settings,DNS servers, logging in and out etc failed.
I realized that in my case, there was something amiss with the iCloud account because the problem with iMessage activating occurred either on wifi alone (in Airplane mode) or using cellular alone, so it could not be the carrier/network issues. The hard reset/restore as new phone told me it was probably not the phone software. I was about to go to Apple and ask for a new phone under Apple care. This was weird because I could easily log into iCloud with the original long 32 character password.
Hope this adds some help to all you frustrated people.
My solution probably will not work unless you have reason to think your iCloud account is amiss in some way - as noted above

  • Trying to activate Iphone 4. Says activation failure. Why?

Activated Iphone 4 on verizonwireless.com using MED. Iphone is now not letting my activate through itunes or wireless connection. Saying Activation Failure. Any ideas? Trying to avoid driving 2 hours to apple store.
