IMessage and FaceTime won't let me log on
I have an iPod 4th generation 16gb and it seems to think I am a new member so asks me to log on to iMessage and FaceTime with my apple account so I have logged on successfully but now it asks me to choose the email address/phone numbers people can contact me with so I pick the ones I want and select next but then it goes back to the logging on page. To try and solve this I tried switching it on and off multiple times, changing settings, looking on the internet, yet nothing was exactly the same, so nothing worked. Please can people help me.
Other users have reported same problem with 4G iPod/iOS 6.1.6 and I have not seen a solution. One user reported yesterday or the day before that it just started working again.

IMessage and Facetime won't let me change apple id
Read through similar postings but can't find a solution. When I try to change the apple id for both facetime and messaging i can get past the "sign in" screen, which takes me to the next page which verfies the email address. But before I can click "next" it reverts to the "sign in" page. This happens in both Messaging and Facetime. I use the same apple id for iCloud on this device - no issues. I've also tested this apple id on other devices and have had no problems. Thanks in advance for your help.
- When you go to Settings>Time%Date is it set to Automatic?
- Go to Settings>wifi>the connected network and change the DNS to Google's 8.8.8.8 -

When I first got the Ipod Touch 4G about a month ago, I tried FaceTime with my kids and it worked fine. Now I tried to log in and keep getting "The user name or password ... was incorrect" My Apple ID is an email address and have changed the password three times without any luck with FaceTime, I even used their listed requirement for FaceTime password: Capital and numbers.... Welcome to Discussions, 67siia
(0) Because is worked once, you must change the password back to the one that worked initially.
The only alternative is to create a new iD and password and replacing the one that does not work with a fresh activation of FaceTime using the new info. If you need help, see this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40
(1) Test to see whether the problem is the same when your "kids" invite you to FaceTime.
(2) Does "log in" mean you initiate a FaceTime call?
If so, you should not need to change anything because it worked before.
Try restarting (turning off and back on) your iPod. If you need help, see this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
Then test again. If the problem remains, try from another location that offers known FaceTime-friendly wi-fi. Examples include Apple Stores or VARs and Starbucks. If it works for you at other locations but fails at home, restart your modem and router/wireless. If they are separate devices, wait for the modem self-test to finish before starting the next device. Then test again. If restarting does not help, you will need to troubleshoot your wi-fi. If you need help, see this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
(3) If your problem remains, try "Restoring your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a previous backup." If you need help, see this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
You might even want to consider restoring your iPod to "new" condition and then starting over on setting up your "new" iPod.
(4) If everything fails, and if you want to continue to try to resolve this yourself, post back all the new information you found while trying these suggestions. We will try to offer other suggestions based on the details in your reply.
(5) Alternatively, seek help in person from the "kids" or an Apple retailer.

IMessage and FaceTime won't accept my Apple ID after upgrading to Mountain Lion
iMessage and FaceTime won't accept my Apple ID in order to activate after upgrading to Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro.
My Apple ID works to sign in to the App store as well as on my iphone and iPad.
What do I need to do?This Apple doc might help ya out -> iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
Troubleshooting Apple ID activation
After each step, toggle iMessage and FaceTime off and then on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection. Check your Wi-Fi network using standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting.
If you receive an error when signing in to your Apple ID, visit myinfo.apple.com, sign in to your account, and ensure that the primary email address has been verified.
Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
In Settings > General > Date & Time, ensure that Set Automatically is on. If Set Automatically is on, but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to another Wi-Fi network in a different location. -
iMessage and Facetime won't activate on new iphone 5. Both indicate "Waiting for Activation." How do I fix?
I just activated a new iphone 4s and restored from a backup of my former iphone 3gs - had the same problem - Waiting for Activation on both facetime and imessage. I tried all the usual fixes, reset all, hard reset, turn facetime/imessage on and off, and on and on. 2 hours on phone with tech support to no avail.
I just found the fix on my own - no clue if it will work for everyone. But it's ridiculously easy and worth a shot so you don't waste hours and hours resetting/synching as I did.
All I did was go into settings>phone>my number - erase it by touching the ">". Then re-enter it making sure to input with the "+" and country code. For example in the US: +1(508) 569-9901
No hard reset necessary. I went into settings>facetime and imessage, immediately after inputting my phone number again and the dreaded "waiting for activation" message was gone. I tested sending a message - came thru to the other party fine and facetiming another device (my mom's ipad some distance away) and it rang thru with everything working properly i.e., video/audio. -
I ve just upgraded from the 4s to 5s and my iMessage and FaceTime will not work or log in any suggestions
Hello there, Bromers87.
It seems that you're having issues with activation of both of these features on your new iPhone 5s. The following Knowledge Base article offers some pointers with issues activating them on your iPhone:
iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4268
If it seems that activation has gone through ok, then the following two articles offer in-depth troubleshooting for each application:
iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime

and
iOS: Troubleshooting Messages

My iMessage and Facetime won't activate, says waiting for activation. All photos and contacts are restored, using email and wifi only, no service. Only issue is date and time will not automatically set.
Howdy eewebe13,
So you have no cellular service but are on Wi-Fi yet iMessage and Facetime are waiting for activation.
Please step through this article for that scenario.

Yes, that's why. You must take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to have the problem corrected.
