Imessage and notifications work intermittently on ipad mini

I got my ipad mini about a week ago and ever since I got it, my notification system works between certain times which is usually between 9 pm and 5 am, sometimes they also work during the middle of the day but that's for 2 or so hours and then they just stop working again. imessage does the same thing and if imessage isn't working then the notifications for anything don't work either. I have googled some solution and I do have my notifications set to ON, my date and time are set to autoupdate, the DNS for my network is also set to 8.8.8.8 but nothing seems to work (I've also tried 8.8.4.4 for the DNS), I've tried rebooting the device and I'm also running the latest versio of ios6. Could anyone tell me what my problem is ?

Vince0909 in the thread that is referenced above made this suggestion and it worked for a number of users. You may still need to resolve the time zone issue as well.

    Look at no. 5 in this text which was copied from Apple's support site for troubleshooting Messages and FaceTime activation.
    Troubleshooting Apple ID activation
    After each step, toggle iMessage and FaceTime off and then on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
    Update to the latest version of iOS.
    Ensure that you have an active Internet connection. You can complete activation using Wi-Fi or a cellular data connection. Check your Wi-Fi network using standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting.
    If you receive an error when signing in to your Apple ID, visit myinfo.apple.com, sign in to your account, and ensure that the primary email address has been verified.
    Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
    In Settings > General > Date & Time, ensure that Set Automatically is on. If Set Automatically is on, but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
    Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to another Wi-Fi network in a different location.

    When surfing or working on my iPad mini, frequently my applications close and it goes the home screen.  This problem started about a week ago.  I did do a hard reset.

    Make sure you do not leave a lot of apps open in the iOS multitasking bar.
    Dbl click the Home button, look to see now many apps that are still active in the multitask bar.
    You can safely quit some of these by holding your finger on one app until all the icons wiggle.
    Tap the red dash in the upper left corner to quit each app from running. Then just tap anywhere else on the iPad's screen or single click the Home button to stop the wiggling and close the Multitask bar.

  • TS4268 Is there a real fix to get iMessage and FaceTime working with iOS7 on my iPad?  Tried that 8.8.8.8 and time rest thing but they don't.   Everything else works.... Says the network connection is the problem but only for these two programs.

    Is there a "real fix" to get iMessage and FaceTime working?  Tried the 8.8.8.8 and time,rest thing.   Passwords and Apple ID are ok.  At log in the message says it's a network connection. 
    Any ideas?  Is here a fix coming from Apple?

    Apps are on my iPad and worked fine with iOS 6. When iOS7 was loaded, I can no longer sign in to these two apps using my Apple ID. These apps are on my phone and work fine.  This problem is on on my iPad.

    iMessage on My iPhone 4 works fine after doing the same update.
    Have done all the usual things plugging into computer, complete shut down and reboot, nothing has worked.
    It keeps asking for password for Apple ID, I know I am entering the correct ID,  check network is also being displayed.
    Nothing wrong with my network either, other iPads and iPhones are working fine on the same network.
    Would like this fixed ASAP.

    You would also know if the computer had stopped for an Update.
    On the Mac in the Contacts App in the Contacts Menu > Accounts is it shown to be using iCloud to Sync the info between all devices ?

    I discovered this lovely little forum entry that solved my problem!
    (Remember this is for Windows, I'm not sure if the same will work for Mac)
    This is what you do:
    1: Have iTunes up and plug in your iPod.
    2: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons down until the iPod shuts down.
    3: When the screen is blank, release the Sleep/Wake and just hold the Home button down for about 15 seconds.
    4: After then, iTunes will recognize an I iPod in Recovery Mode.
    5: That's when iTunes will ask you to Update/Restore your iPod.
    I'm pretty sure those are the steps.
    (If anything is wrong, can someone fix it, please?)
    But that really does work.
    The writer said that his iPod was "stuck on the apple screen, and not going anywhere after that."
    That was my issue, so hopefully this will work for you!

    The 10W charger will work on all of Apple's iDevices. It will charge your Mini faster.
    The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging).     You can use the iPhone / iPod touch version on your iPad and just press the 2x button to expand it to fit the larger screen.
    The alternative HD version has been optimised by the games developers to perfectly fit the larger iPad screen without doubling the pixels and they have chosen to charge for this HD version separately to the standard iPhone version. Some developers choose to charge, some include the iPad version in with the iPhone version at no extra charge.

    Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    Hi Mate, yes it's fine with the mini (and iPad 2 onwards), the interface has plenty of room so is great to use too.

    I recently posted elsewhere:
    "I am very interested in this issue as I want an ipad for 7 months travel in Southern Africa and the particular app I want is Tracks4 Africa map app On App store it says "This app is designed for both iphone and ipad" and later on "Requires iOS4.3 or later." and "optimised for iphone 5"
    In emails with the developers their junior tech assistant says it is not compatible with an ipad mini with wi-fi.  My attempts to differentiate whether its compatible with an ipad mini running both wi-fi and mobile has fallen on deaf ears.
    Does the ipad mini offer 4.3?
    Could you understand why an app wouldn't be compatible with a wi-fi only app but would be ok on a wi-fi and mobile unit?"
