IMessage coming through as emails

Everytime I use iMessage since I've downloaded the new operating system it is sending iMessages from email and not allowing me to send iMessages from my phone number? If anyone has any ideas why this is and how I can change it the I'd greatly appreciate it. I've already tried going to settings>message settings and changing it from email to my number but my number is appearing in grey and won't allow me to select it!

My computer restarted this morning and now my thunderbird email isn't working properly. Some emails are coming through but when I check emails on my iphone there have been other emails coming through (on my phone) which are not showing up in thunderbird on my computer?? I haven't changed anything, all I did was restart my computer. Help please!!

Not sure what would cause that but you might try setting it up as an Exchange account to see if you have more success, as explained here:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/32784/sync-hotmail-with-your-iphone-or-ipod-touch -with-exchange-activesync/. (If you don't want to sync contacts or calendars just turn these to off.)

IMessage sent through iCloud email

I recently restored my phone to an earlier state from a few hours ago. After doing so, I sent an imessage to a friend; however the imessage didn't go through and kept saying "sending". I double tapped it and hit "send as text message" and it went through. However, after setting up my imessage setting on my iPhone and Mac, that one friend has been receiving imessages through my iCloud email. But all my settings for receiving/sending imessage's and facetime are to my phone number. The weird thing is, everyone else is receiving my imessage through my phone number, but only this one friend is receiving them through my iCloud and when they try to text my number it goes through as a SMS text message.
Does anyone know a solution for this? I have tried turning on/off my phone after I signed out of imessage and the app store.

I bought a T-Mobile iPhone a month ago and it was already activated when I got shipped to me. I didn't have to actiavte it.
Any T-Monile sim will show the T-Mobile logo when inserted and will show the signal bars . This is so you can use the T-Mobile data signal to activate if you have no WiFi, especially useful for iPads.

How do I stop iMessages coming through to all my devices?

We have 2 iPads and 3 iPhones and all our iMessages seem to be sharing across the lot of them??? How do I isolate each device to send and receive from only 1 device at a time? This applies to every IMessage that is sent even from friends!!

Use different email addresses - gmail - that you just use for FaceTime/iMessage.

Texts are coming through as email addresses

twice when ive texted a coworker from my cell phone and they show me the message it says that the sender of the text is my personal gmail account NOT my phone number like it should be why the **** is it doing this?

If you go into Settings - Messages - send / receive
Your phone number is usually in gray and cannot be changed \
But you should be able to tap on the email and unselect it
What happens if you try? Any error message?
And have you tried to reset your phone and try again?

Found a fix on another thread that seemed to work.
Go into Messages preferences and uncheck "enable this account." Wait a few seconds, then recheck it.
Also disabled and re-enabled imessages on my 4S just for good measure.

Something similar happened to me also when I got an iPhone using the same Apple ID as my iPad. Here is what I did.
I added myself as a contact on my phone with my phone number as well -- the phone recognized that and the msgs to the iPad stopped as the e-mail wasn't associated with that...

This is what it is and what it does. You both have to have iOS 5 installed on your supported device. If that's not what your setup is, then that's your answer.

All my emails from my hotmail account keep coming to my phone, how can I stop them coming through?

After recently updating my iPhone, all the emails from my hotmail account keeping coming through on my phone. I have opened all the emails from that account so I don't understand why they keep coming to my phone unopened. Also I have tried deleting and re-adding the email account a number of times but it still won't stop sending them through. How can I stop this?

You can share the same Apple ID in
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID: here
But for all other Apple services like:
FaceTime, iMessage, iCloud, etc, one of you should use a different Apple ID.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
