IMessage crashes my computer. I have to disable it to do anything
for some reason my whole system crashes if I enable iMessage or face time on my iMac and Mac book pro. Its fine on my iPhone and iPad. I would love to use this service but it completely disables my system. After many hours of testing and trouble shooting, iMessage was the conflict.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
So no Grey Screen with some text rolling down it first then an instruction to restart the Mac in different Languages ? (Kernel Panic)
So error messages that pop up ?
No Pop ups with Logs to Send to Apple ?
Lets consider Fonts.
Most apps NEED Helvetica to be present and Enabled. In the past with iChat there have been issues with Helvetica Fractions.
iChat and Messages also need Lucida Grande as this is used to title the Group Bars in the Buddy Lists.
It was found in Messages 8 in Mavericks that the app also needs the AppleGothic.ttf Font to be present and active.
It needs this Font when it registers the Apple ID and if you turn the app Off or the computer it seems the app re-registers the Apple ID each time you launch the app.
The AppleGothic.ttf font is in /Library/Fonts which is unusual as it is a required Font which are normally kept in /System/Library/Fonts (where the Helvetica and Lucida Grande ones are).
In Mavericks some people fond the font was Off using Font Book to look at it (it appears near the bottom of the list in this app).
Some found that Duplicating it in the Finder (File Menu) and then removing the Original and changing the duplicates name to the Orginal name also worked as did moving it to the /System/Library/Fonts location. (with a computer restart).
Do you have these Fonts Active ?

How to disable iMessage from a computer if your iPod got stolen?
My iPod got stolen and I have things I don't want people to see on it, How can I disable iMessage from my computer?
- If you previously turned on the FIndMyiPod feature and location service is on, and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud, sign in, and go to FindMyiPhone. If your iPod shows you can remotely wipe it. Otherwise there is nothing you can do.It the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- Did you have a screen-lock passcode ?
- Report to police and change the passwords fro all accounts used on the iPod.
- Apple will not help

I am trying to upload photos from my digital camera. Every time I try to plug it into my USB, the following error message comes up: "Because a usb device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled."
I don't have anything else plugged into my MBP, so I am confused as to what's going on. This problem has never happened before. MBP is less than a year old - about 9 months old. HELPGet a powered USB hub.

I live in a house with multiple iCloud users. When they try to turn on "Find my computer" they get the message that they will have to disable my "find my computer" setting in order to enable theirs. How can they all be enabled at the same time?

When I plug in my son's iPad I get this message "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled." I only have one charger for this iPad all my other chargers are for iPhone 4s. I have pluggerd it in different outlets around the house and the iPad will not charge. When I plugged it on my lap top to back it up it gave me the warning message. HELP!!
I have the same problem on my Air. The message first came up while my iPhone was connected to it for some time. Since then, it pops up ALL THE TIME, whithout anything being connected to the USB port, at what appear to be random intervals that vary between about one hour and a few seconds. I have tried resetting the SMC and the PRAM, but no results. A quick search revealed that thousands of users are facing this problem, but Apple has yet to provide a solution. Please help!

Here is the total error message:
"Because a USB devce was drawing too much power from your computer, one
or more of your USB devices have been disabled.
To prevent damaging your computer, the USB device drawing too much
power has been disabled. Other devices may have also been disabled.
When you disconnect the device drawing too much power, your other USB
devices will be enabled again."
Now in contrast to every other thread on this i get this error message eveytime i connect my soundcard (interface). Not when i start up the mac or anything, just when i connect the sound card. (the soundcard does not have its own power source but note that this has never happened before and i have had this soundcard for about a year!)
It deactivates so i cannot use it.
I have tried:
Connecting the soundcard to my mothers mac -> it worked!
Connecting an external harddrive to my mac -> it worked!
so basically, i can't be the soundcard or the cable and it cannot be the mac USB port?
I don't know what to do! i really need this to work! anyone got an idea??Hi, ryankeenanrk.

I have a new iMac 27" and just plugged in a Apple USB superdrive and get message, "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled." I am trying to load Office mac2011 what to do?
If you just bought the iMac and the Sjuperdrive take the superdrive back and get a refund. The by any other brand external DVD drive that connects by USB and try that. Most come with a Y USB cable to allow you to connect to 2 USB ports to supply enogh power to the drive IF Needed.
Or take both back and get a refund on both, you have 14 days to return it no questions asked, and buy another iMac and some other brand external DVD drive. -

Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled?
What do I do?Not Charge
- See:
iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use. One symptom of a bad Lightning cable is the message you are getting.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

i plugged in my ipod and now i get the error message: Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled" - i have a MAcBook pro and now my USB ports do not work - can anyone help me ???
Sometimes you have to reset the SMC two or three times for it to work, don't know why. I've seen that error message before and 100% of the time it was fixed with an SMC reset. I suppose it's possible that your keyboard or mouse IS drawing too much power, do you have access to another you could try?

Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled. - This is what shows up sometimes even when no USB is connected. What could be the reason?
Try a different USB cord, seen this many many times, its highly likely a damaged USB cord.
Restart the computer to redefine Port definition. If still a problem
You can also resetting PRAM/NVRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard on both of my computers.
Some time ago, one crashed my computer and I had to reinstall the operating system and all applications.
After I had installed once Acrobat 9 Sdt in the computer, I wanted to update the software version 9.0.0 update to the same level as it was before the crash and that the other computer has version named 9.5.5.
The system for update from version 9.0.0 does not work at all. "There are no updates" listed in the dialog.
Can you advise how I get my Adobo Acrobat 9 Standard (Version 9.0.0) could be updated to the same level as the computer had before the crash.ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/9.x/
