Imessage doesn't say delivered?

Ok so I text this person a lot and his phone tells me if he read the message.
So today he texts me and I respond and it doesnt say delivered.
Then he texts me again a few hours later and the text I sent still doesnt say delivered or read.
So I respond with a question...and he didnt answer and the text still doesnt say "delivered"
He has an iphone and the text is still blue.
I'm not sure what the problem is.
Both him and I are online so it's not the internet.
and I turned on SMS messaging.
Not sure what else to do. Any help?

Try the following:
Log out of and then log back in to iCloud on both of your devices.
Restart your iPhone.

Green messages are SMS messages sent to non-iOS devices or iOS devices that do not have iMessage enabled. They go through your carrier and count towards your SMS limit, if any.
Blue messages are messages sent to other iOS devices (Iphones, iPods, Ipads) and Macs through Apple servers and are therefore not SMS charged by the carrier.

WAS IT DELIVERED? Sent on iChat & doesn't say Delivered, but appears on iPhone & says Delivered.

I sent a message from Messages on my MacBook Pro last night and it still does not appear as Delivered. The blue box is there and it never alerted as unable to deliver/not sent. However, when I open Messages on my iPhone5, that same message DOES say Delivered. Was it delivered or not?
Other iMessages sent from both devices indicated Delivered on both devices before and after this particular text.
The recipient in question is an iMessage user. Messages have always been fine with this recipient in the past.
Preferences on my Macbook Pro Messages app are set so that I can be reached on my phone number and apple registered email address.
My computer and iPhone accounts have always been synced and have never been a problem.
RECAP:
Message sent on MacBook Pro Message DOES NOT say Delivered. Appears as normal blue box. No alert that the message failed to send.
This message appears on iPhone5 Message application and DOES say Delivered and time stamp indicates delivery at the time it was sent.
This is the ONLY message with a problem. Other messages are, and have been, functioning as usual.
QUESTION: WAS THE iMessage DELIVERED OR NOT?????

At one level it is debatable and another the answer is yes.
I will explain further.
You have two different apps on an iOS device and the Mac that act a little differently despite using the same service.
You also have Apple IDs and linked iPhone numbers in some cases and a form of syncing between the two.
Lets start with a basic set up and expand from there.
Lets say you and a contact are both on Mac sending iMessages using your Apple ID with no linked iPhone Number (i.e no second "listening" device)
You send an iMessages and you get the Delivered and possibly Read depending on their settings when they Receive it.
Basically an Original Message to the intended person on the intended device.
Now th next step.
The contact Adds an iPhone to the set up, linking the Apple ID to the iPhone Number
This means his (or her's) end has two devices, one with the intended ID and the other capable of "listening" as it were.
You send an iMessages again to their Apple ID (potentially the Mac).
This is the device that can respond with "received " and therefore the Delivered response you see.
The iMessages server is pushing the iMessages to all devices. they all respond they "received" it.
The iOS side seems to be slightly faster.
This can mean "Delivered" gets posted on your Mac briefly before the iMessages servers sort it out.
Now lets presume their Mac is Off line.
You might see the "Delivered" reported briefly from his/her iOS device before the iMessages server realizes the Apple ID device has not responded.
However the iMessages, due to the sync process is on their iPhone.
Add in to this the fact that the Mac can send as If it is the iPhone.
If you then Send to the Mac/Apple ID the iMessages server treats your iPhone as the Sender and posts Response back to the iPhone (number) and not the Apple ID.
Depending on what device is off line at the other end you can find the responses are not synced the same way the actual iMessages are.
However the Sync process tends to mean that at least one device has seen the iMessage.

When you text someone from imessage and it says delivered..does this mean that the other person received the message already through their ipod and a notification pops out?

im just wondering if the person im texting using imessage actually received my message when it says delivered..doesnt mean they read it but does it mean it applies the fact they can c the msg alrd like their ipod touch has received the msg and can b seen tru notification as well

A red check means the text wasn't sent (maybe the number has been changed, they have texts blocked, there was a network problem).

I use iMessage with my wife and messages don't be delivered sometimes. It says "sent" on my iPhone 6 but my wife doesn't see the message.
We are both in Wi-Fi and 3G networks but there may be network issues instant.
I send another messages then and they are delivered. The message that doesn't be delivered doesn't be delivered still.
We use iOS 8.2
Is there any solution for this tedious problem?

It sounds like your wife does not receive some iMessages that you send her from your iPhone 6.
Start with the steps in this article to troubleshoot this situation:

Since your wife is not receiving the messages, she may want to try these steps on her iPhone as well.

IMessage doesn't deliver from my iPhone 4s to an iPod who it has delivered to before?

Sometimes when I try to send iMessages from my iPhone 4s to my friend's iPod (who has an email as his iMessage), it doesn't deliver. When it does, it says Delivered. However, he has gotten them before, so randomly it will stop working. I tried resetting network settings and resetting my phone, still doesn't work. Help!

Iphone won't send image on iMessage says "delivered"

I'm suddenly having this weird issue where i can't send images through imessage. It would say "delivered" on the bottom of the image but none of my friends are able to receive it. Another thing that is acting up is my imessage on my macbook. Whenever i send a message to someone, it would deliver as my email, not my number where it used to be. I resetted a whole bunch of stuff, made sure all my settings are correct including the option where it being sent to is my phone number.
Anyone has a solution for this? this just suddenly happen a couple of days ago. The imessage sync between my phone and my mac used to work perfectly fine.

It means that the device the message was sent to did not reply that it had been received by the device.

I turned on and off everything and did all the necessary trouble shooting.
I'm on a Verizon 4S. and I'm sure Verizon has nothing to do with iMessage system, since it's on its on server.

Thank you soo much ! Every now and then I would check my DNS and it would say 8.8.8.8 but I just checked now and realised it was somethin something something THANK YUU SOO MUCH ! REALLY APPRECIATE IT AND YU DESERVE THOSE 49,085 points !!!

I'll send an iMessage or SMS and it will say delivered, but the recipient never receives it. Sometimes i'll send a message and it won't arrive until I send the recipient a second text sometimes hours later

iMessage will say "delivered" but it will not be received. Also will sometimes send a text, and it will not go through until I send a subsequent text , sometimes hours later. Like the first message was stuck in some sort of text limbo. Happens sporadically but often enough to be an annoyance. Already tried restore, resetting network settings, switching on or off iMessage, and calling verizon. Does the +1 in front of my number have anything to do with it? any suggestions?

Will iMessage say delivered when the message is being sent to a dead device

My iPad was dead and someone messaged me and it said delivered, is it normal to say delivered even when the device it's sent to is dead?

This exact thing also happened to me. Additionally when other iMessage users responded to me, they also got a Not Delivered message even though I did receive it.
I tried resetting Network settings, turning iMessage on and off, restarting, etc.
Finally this morning I went all out. I made sure I was backed up to iCloud and then did a full reset and erased all data. I restored from an iCloud backup and now things are working.
There was a little glitch at first, although it may have been user error. I have two iPhones - personal and corporate and I sync my iMessages between them. (Personal is the one with the problems that I reset.) I found that in my iMessage settings (under Send & Receive Addresses), my personal phone wasn't selected after the restore, and it wasn't using it as the source for sending a new message. I had to put a checkmark back in front of the personal phone number and select it as the new message number. It's possible I messed up when setting up the phone, but I didn't think so.
Anyway, I have done multiple tests and my iMessages are now all sending correctly and seem to be working.
Hope that helps someone. I've found a few reports of this since the 7.0.3 upgrade rolled out, but nothing with a fix. May not work for everyone, but it may be worth a shot.

Anything is possible.
it could be off or not connected to wi-fi.
It could have been found and restored.
In any of these cases you will not be able to find it.

WHen you go into iMessage settings at the top it will say your email account you are using for iMessage, press that and it will give options. Press sign out and it will use your current phone number if you're using an iPhone, if you're using an iPod then it will turn iMessage off. P.S. it doesn't sign you out of your itunes account for iTunes and all that, just for iMessage

My pictures send through iMessage only to certain people. And others the message is saying " delivered" but the person on the other end isn't getting any of my picture messages and sometimes regular iMessages with no pictures.

I was sure this curse was an Android feature since I had it constantly with my Nexus phones for the last two years, but sure enough it affects iOS8 too. Turn off wireless and and your MMS will go out fine over cellular ever time (in my experience anyway). Ridiculous, right?
