IMessage & Facetime connection error
Everytime I try and set up facetime or iMessage, my ipod says check your internet connection - but safari, itunes, and the app store on the ipod work fine? Any help would be appriecated.
- Go to Settings>General>Time&Daate and make sure it is set to automatic
- Go to Settings>wifi and change the DNS to Google's 8.8.8.8

Fix for iMessage/Facetime login error following iOS 7 update
Go into Settings. Correct your Date/Time settings because the update threw them off. This is common with apple updates. It will fix your iMessage/Facetime login errors.
This won't work for the iphone 5...

Why can't we get Facetime to connect? Apple ID etc. are all verified. Our WiFi and internet access are working fine?
At sign-in the system comes back with the 'check your network connection'. I haven't a clue what it wants us to do.
Anyone have a solution? Thanks, K.I FOUND THE FIX!!!!!
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/IdentityServices
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. Log out or restart the computer, empty the Trash, and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Basically drag the items in the identityservices folder to trash log out, log back in, empty trash, start messages or facetime!!
GOOD LUCK! -

there has been a big problem with facetime and imessage. The best solution for this case is to restore your device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Make sure you back it up. and I would set up facetime before you reinstall your backup and make sure its working. -
I can't get on facetime. It says there is there is a connection error, and I have tried all the troubleshooting.

Conection Error iMessage & Facetime
Hi! I restored to iOS 8.1.1 my iPad air. Now when I try to sign in imessage and facetime I have a connection error... I tried to restore backup, didn't work...
Create a new apple id, didnt work... restore again my iPad, didnt work... I try to put my apple id in another iPad and its work! I dont know what is happening with my ipad air... Can you help me?
I have the same problem in my macbook but I dont need it in my mac.
ThanksHello JBendahan12,
It may be that the time zone on your iPad Air is not set correctly. Incorrect time and date information can prevent successful activation of iMessage and FaceTime.
Tap Settings > General > Date & Time. Make sure that your iPhone is set to the correct time zone. If Set Automatically is on but the wrong time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.

I can't get FaceTime or iMessage to connect, I enter valid password (tested and works for Apple account) and it won't connect. I have checked all settings, upgrades iOS to 8.3 rebooted, changed Apple acount PW still wont connect. My internet connection is fine Safari works and I can access all sites. I have an iPad 2. Any help on this will be greatly appreciate. iPad 2, iOS 8.3
This is an ongoing problem as you will see by searching the forum.
Out of curiosity, do you have 2 step verification enabled? It was recently extended to include iMessage & FaceTime & I'm wondering if it might be causing some of the issues that some users are experiencing. -
I cannot connect to FaceTime, encountered "error processing registration, please try later" message on my Macbook Air, but I don't have this problem on my IMac. Can anyone help?
I have the same problem on my iMac. My facetime has been working, but now I'm getting the same error as You. I've been through the following:
The stuff that Linc Davis suggested, new profile on iMac, moved iMac into DMZ zone with no firewall rules, tested with other Apple-ID, checked hosts file, checked different timezone settings, tried to connect to 2 mobile APs (with diferent providors), changed DNS servers (ISP's DNS + Google DNS + Open DNS) - Nothing helped. Also talked to Apple Support, since i have Apple Care, but the seem to be a bit clueless also Well I've mailed them the results of my different tests, so lets see what they come up with - Unfortunately I'm sure it will be the same suggestion as all the major PC manufactures suggests, reinstall and test - RIGHT !!!!!!
If I get solution, I'll post it here.
Kind Regards

I have just downloaded ios7 and have lost all use of my iMessage I have reset all my settings but still nothing. Hello JD_NINJA,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Error 9006 when restoring your iOS device indicates that there is security software on your computer which is preventing connection to the Apple server or your device. To troubleshoot this issue please follow the directions below.

Why do I get a "poor connection" error every time I try to use FaceTime on my new router
I Have a new router, now every time I try to use facetime I get "poor connection" error. Can anyone help?
Did you already check this article?
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
More things to try:
Wi-Fi network issues
Make sure that your Wi-Fi network is set up using the recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points.
If you encounter issues using a Wi-Fi network, use standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting to resolve interference and other issues.
If you're using router, firewall, or security software that restricts Internet access, make sure that the ports documented in Using FaceTime behind a Firewall are open.
FaceTime requires a broadband connection. Performance might vary according to network throughput and usage.

IMessage & Facetime log in error - The server encountered an error processing registration.
I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Both my iMessage and Facetime was working fine until yesterday when I get logged out all of a sudden. I tried signing in to my iMessage & Facetime and all I keep getting is an error saying "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."
My Apple ID is active and working on my iTunes, iCloud, Macbook Air and iPhone but it's only on my iMac that's giving me this problem. Both my MBA and iMac are running on Mountain Lion.
I tried deleting the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imessage.plist method as suggested by others. It did NOT work. I tried setting my date/time automatically. It also did NOT work. I'm just puzzled as to why my MBA is able to log in to Facetime and iMessage but not my iMac.Hi,
Try booting into Safe Mode and if successful reboot and use Messages normally.
