IMessage - Facetime not "connecting" mountain Lion

Hi,
here is my problem.
I just updated to 10.8.2 from Lion, and i got two issues in iMessage and Facetime. When I try to connect to my icloud account, the app keeps for 3 mins triying to log me in, but it shows a message saying "could not connect to server, please check your internet connection".
How I know the internet is not the problem? because I`m using the same mac to write this question.
I tought the problem was my iMessage app, beacause I was using the beta version before the update, so I deleted it and reinstalled Mountain Lion, still no success
Some advices and solutions triyed:
Switch beteween ethernet/cable and WiFi. no success
Reinstall M. Lion. No success
Look for the com.apple.facetime/imessage file on the library. There was no such file in that folder.
Check if 2 iCloud accounts were on the app. There was one 1 account
To check the internet - wifi - account. I used my iPad and iPod Touch to send messages and I can send them from there.
Try to log in with another account or fake account. No success, same response
Use another account to log in with iMessage, like gtalk, it did
I can use my iCloud account to everything else, but this.
So... that`s it... if there is another solution, please tell me

Gracias de antemano, disculpen mi ingles.

Ralph,
I have tryed the with a public DNS before, still no success.
I checked the files in the ~/Library/Preferences. and both file are there... when i opened the com.apple.imessages.bag.plist with text edit, i got this:

  • Two iMessage Accounts on OSX Mountain Lion???

Is it possible to have two iMessage accounts on OSX Mountain Lion?  My wife and I have our own phones with separate Apple IDs for use in iCloud, etc, but share a computer at home.  We would like to be able to use the iMessage functionality in Messages without having to switch between user accounts on the computer.  I don't see a way to add a second iMessage acount on the computer version of Messages.
Please let me know if this is possible.
    Thanks,

There is nothing to overcome, your mac is too old to run Mountain Lion.  For an iMac it must be a (Mid 2007 or newer)  http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/

  • Keyword search in Apple Notes on Mountain Lion?

Hi friends. I hope someone can enlighten me and help put some faith back into Apple's software development.
Does anyone know how to do a keyword search in Apple Notes on Mountain Lion?? I know that sounds completely stupid but let me explain...
In the top left corner there is a search field. When I enter a keyword it searches all the notes, and in the left hand pain it filters the notes that have the keyword in them. It doesn't actually show me *where" the keyword appears, it only shows the notes that *contain* them. It's just a filter, not a search. Try it for yourself.
It would be like doing a keyword search in a PDF, and it only tell you which pages it appears on, rather than where on the page. It is completely useless.
I fail to believe the program would be this limited. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Please no suggestions to go find another note program. I need notes for particular reasons.

This behavior makes complete sense to me.  If I designed it, I would do it exactly the same way.
Here's why:  Notes are not expected to be treatises.  They are expected to be reasonably short.  You should easily be able to find the search target in your relatively brief note.
Nonetheless, if you fee like you'd like to ask Apple for this feature, here's how to supply feedback to Apple:

  • I have OS X 10.5.8 and I want to upgrade, but not to Mountain Lion.

I have OS X 10.5.8 and I want to upgrade, but not to Mountain Lion. How do I upgrade to Leopard or snow leopard?

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • Export (Backup) Notes in Mountain Lion?

    Dear Apple Community,
is there any possiblity to export the notes in mountain lion?
On Lion I could export the notes!

    William Lloyd wrote:
Your notes are stored in a Core Data database.
    The location is ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes/Library/Notes/
There are 2 or 3 files in there, called NotesV1.storedata (stuff).
Note on Mountain Lion, that the ~/Library folder is hidden by default which explains why you can't see it.
There is no way that I'm aware of to do mass import or export of notes from within the Notes application.  However, Notes is AppleScriptable so you could write an AppleScript that would do it.  This obviously requires knowing enough AppleScript to do it.
You can Google for something like "Notes.app" "mountain lion" "import" and find stuff, like this:
    http://macscripter.net/viewtopic.php?id=39166
That's to import.  You could reverse the script to export stuff.
You have got to be kidding!!!!
I looked at the page you reference.
One of the biggest selling points for me to get an apple was that I could use time machine to recuperate "lost" items.
    This is WAY too complicated!!
    Any easier solutions?
    Thanks

  • Notes in Mountain Lion with images

I created notes on Mountain Lion and they sync with my iPad/iPhone.  However notes on Mountain Lion that contain images dont sync, the note sync but the images dont.
Is there a way to fix this?  Is this part of iOS 6?

This is normal. For the moment. IOS notes should show a paperclip instead of an image. For images to sync you have to wait for IOS6.

  • HT4865 Notes in Mountain Lion

Do notes in mountain lion get stored securely on the iCloud server.  now that notes is separate from mail, apple would not need to store them in IMAP servers like they were doing when notes was integrated into the mail app.

    thanks for the link Winston.
I did read this article before I posted.  the article came out before Mountain Lion and maybe it needs to be updated to be clear.
It does clearly say that notes are transmitted security but it does not say for sure that they are stored on IMAP servers.  it says iCloud does not store data on IMAP servers securely but doesn’t say whether this applies to both Mail and Notes.
before the separate Notes app on ML, I would assume this KB article was referring to both Mail and Notes being stored on the IMAP server because the interface for Notes was embedded into Mail.
It may be that Notes are still stored on IMAP servers even though they now have their own app but since the KB article pre-dates ML, it makes me wonder.

I attempted to uninstall QT and reinstall- the QT 7.4 installer failed to install (it said a more up to date version was present, even though I'd trashed the old one). I downloaded and reinstalled 7.5 but itunes still did not work.
    While my solution wasn't ideal
    1) It was what Apple told me to do!
    2) It seemed preferable to A) A complete system reinstall, B) removing 264 .plist files one at a time, rebooting, and seeing which one was causing the problem.
I still have the old .plist files in another folder, and can replace them in my preferences folder if I decide I need them. Most apps will create a new .plist file on start-up if there is not one present, so unless it is a program where I have gone to great lengths to change preferences from default, I'm guessing I will not notice much difference (and if I do, I can always go to my archive of .plists, or on Time Machine for that matter...)

If it's a Core Duo, it can only be upgraded to 10.6.8; Mac OS X 10.6 DVDs are available in the online Apple Store.

  • IMessages doesnt work on Mountain Lion

    hi guys
ive been trying for ages now to connect to IMessages via jabber to my facebook account but i keep getting this msg "chat.facebook.com: Sorry, your account isn't available | Your account is temporarily unavailable. Regain access by logging into your account from your computer's web browser:"
can anyone please help me with that?
plus, how can i strart chatting with a friend who has an Iphone with IMessages? i really dont know anything about this thing
id love to get an answer back
    thanks

    HI,
As has been said the "Chat" option on your Facebook Account settings needs to be enabled to Chat in the first place.
In Messages > Preferences> Accounts server setting the server name  should be whatever this page tell you
http://www.facebook.com/sitetour/chat.php  (Click the iChat entry as it will be the same - I don't have a Facebook account so I can't tell you)
It should be something like the bits after the @ in your ID name
The Link above should tell you if it require SSL or not.
SSL will automatically change the port to 5223 and non SSL will be port 5222
iPhones and iMessages from the Messages App on a Mac.
You will need to "register" an Apple ID with the iMessages server.
Messages should have asked you to do this the first time you launched it.
From there you use the main Messages window
Use the icon top Left to Open a New Message
Then the Blue + icon that appears top right to access the Contacts list.
Select their Apple ID or iPhone Number
Or as has been suggested type their Name in the "To" field.
Once you have a Name in the "To"  spot you can use it like a drop down
If your Card in the Contacts List (Formerly the Address Book) contains AIM or Jabber info as well that may also show up as in this Pic.
Your friend will have needed to register at least their iPhone number with iMessages as well.
