Imessage for iphone 4s

My iphone 4s imessage cannot be activated. It slid to the right and showed green but the status kept saying: waiting for activation. What is wrong and how do I fix this? Thanks.

It has my head scratching.....it works for message balloon, phone and facetime apps, I can text to anyones now not before but the imessage and facetime apps in setting show green (On) still say "Activation Unsuccessfull. Turn on imessage to try again". What's going on? I'm afraid of turning imessage button to off and on again to activate it, it may screw up and it never work again. I'm going to leave it alone. The olds said " it ain't broken don't fix it"....

  • Are deleted iMessages for iPhone 4 recoverable?

I deleted a very important message. It was an iMessage and not a traditional text message. Is this recoverable? I'm willing to go to a data recovery service if that's necessary.

very unlikely.  The iPhone uses flash memory rather than magnetic storage like a computer's drive, making data recovery next to impossible.  You can contact a data recovery service and see what they say.  Expect to pay a LOT of money.

  • IMessage connected to wifi doesn't work for iPhone and ipad

My ipad and iPhone worked great with iMessage on wifi until one week ago. As far as I'm aware nothing has changed. So, I'm not sure what happened. I've checked for updates on both devices and on iMessage and everything is currently updated to the latest version.
On both devices, I have tried turning iMessage off and on and I've confirmed I have both a phone number and email to send and receive messages. I have tried to reset all network settings as well as the hard reboot. I have also logged out and into my iMessage ID and Apple ID. Nothing seems to work.
The thing I find very strange us that started happening with both devices at the same time. So, I confirmed that my wifi signal is fine as well as trying wifi signals in other locations. I am still having the same problem. Can anyone help?

How can I turn off imessage for just one of my contacts? Me and my husband just upgraded (both had iphone 4), I got the iphone 5s and he got he note 3. All my text to him automatically send as a imessage. Ive tried to delete his contact and then went back in and reentered it but that doesnt work.

Have your husband text the word "stop" to 48369. This should take his number out of the iMessage system.
Go into your settings under messaging and make sure the box to send as an SMS if iMessage is unavailable is checked.
Hopefully this will get your messages sending/receiving to each other.

  • Message sent as iMessage instead of text for iPhone without data

My iPhone does not have data. When I am in a wifi zone iMessage works and texts are received. When I am not in wifi, anyone who sends me a text from an iPhone using iMessage does not come through. Is there a setting where iMessages get automatically changed to text messages when receiving messages

    Hey there lg2222,
It sounds like you are not getting iMessages from other people when not connected to Wi-Fi. I would first do these steps, if you have not already:
The first step to resolving an issue with iMessage is to update your iOS software and your carrier settings to the latest versions. If iMessage still has an issue, follow the steps below for your issue.
Then use these troubleshooting steps to help isolate and resolve the issue:
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.

    Hello ctb4408,
With iMessage, it is meant to show up on all your iOS devices and Mac. If you do not want them to go across all your devices, then you will need to turn off iMessage on your iPad and Mac Pro.

facetime and imessage of iphone waiting for activation

okay, i have been having problems with both facetime and imessage on my iphone and decided to look onto it today and after some searching around i managed to fix it!! this is what i did:
Went into settings, clicked on messages, scrolled down to " send & receive' and made sure the number shown was mine. Clicked on "send & receive" then clicked on " use your apple ID for message", this is to make sure my apple ID is correct and if it isn't this where you will change it. Backed out and went into "general", scrolled all the way to the bottom and clicked on "reset" then clicked on "reset network settings". I also went to:
https://appleid.apple.com. Clicked on the "Manage my ID" button. Make sure your email address and phone numbers are correct. Then click the "Save Changes" button. I didn't change anything but as soon as I clicked the "Save Changes" button, my iMessages instantly activated.
Doing these two things worked for me and hope it works for you all out there as i initially thought it was a network problem and it does not seem to be one but it does seem to be an apple thing...

All my contacts use iPhones but one doesn't use iMessage because it uses data. I want to use iMessage for other contacts but i have to turn off for just one contact. Can I turn iMessage off for just one contact?

You need to delete here conversation and start another one using her phone number and not her Apple ID. You cannot delete iMessage, you can disable it. If the Apple server still sees her iPod with iMessage on and using her Apple ID, then it will continue to appear to your phone that she has iMessage. She needs to take a look at this support document about permanently disabling iMessage for her account. Can’t receive text messages on a non-Apple phone

  • How do you change iMessage for a single contact?

When trying to message someone that was an iPhone user but changed to a HTC phone, for some crazy reason, iMessage is still the default how can the on contact be changed?

To disable iMessage for a former iMessage contact, two things need to happen in succession:
    1) the iPhone user must RECEIVE an SMS message from that contact, and
    2) the iPhone user must SEND an SMS message to that contact
    (not necessarily in that order)
It should also be noted that if the contact ever sends an iMessage again, your iPhone will revert back to using iMessage until the above two steps are repeated.
