  • Problem sending iMessage from MacBook

I've got a problem. Maybe it's nothing serious but I still need you gyus to help me So I have 2014 MacBook Pro 15. When I bought the Mac and paired it to my Iphone 5 with message forwarding everything was fine and I was able to send iMessages and also SMS but now I can only send SMS but not iMessages. When I try to send iMessage it just instantly shows "Not Delivered". I tried everything resetting network settings(on Iphone), restarting Iphone, tried some tricks with Airplaine Mode and switching iMessage off/on and everything is up to date, this did not worked. Then I tried to forward messages to my Ipad and I was able to send iMessages from it. So I guess the problem is in the Mac but I can't find where is the problem. I opened Messages preferences and signed out and in to my Apple ID, also changed "Start new conversation from" from my apple ID to my phone number and to my iCloud account and back, still did not work. Restarted Mac. Also logged out of Mac's iCloud account and back in, and guess what, still did not worked. I really tried everything I could find on the google. So please guys do you have any idea what could be the problem?

  • IMessage photos stopped sending to one contact.

I have an iPhone 5 and the recipient a 4.  Photos and voice recordings have been sending fine in iMessage for a while and all of a sudden in the past three days they are not sending.  Regular iMessages (without pics or voicerecordings) send fine but not with pics or recordings.  I have to send those as a text message not iMessage.
I'm able to send pics and recordings in iMessage to other contacts just fine but not one specific contact.  This also happened to another contact a while back.  What's going on with these people?
    Thank you!
    Megan

    Hello MJ in Oakland,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Since you are having an issue with just iMessage, please follow the troubleshooting below in order:
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.

  • How can I send imessages from my phone number instead of my email?

My phone reset and now my imessages only send from my email address instead of from my phone number. I tried settings> messages> send and receive and unchecked the email listed like i saw to try on previous questions, but instead of fixing my problem, it just made it so that now i cant send imessages whatsoever! How can i fix this? I just want to send imessages from my number instead of my email address!

    Hi gracem0324,
Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, and click on your Apple ID and sign out of Messages. Then sign on again. Sometimes it needs to reset itself....

  • Sending iMessage from my number versus email account

Every time i send a iMessage out, the receiver says its coming from my email address. How can i change it so that people will receive iMessages from my phone number versus my email?

  • I no longer can send iMessages from my iPhone (iOS 6.0.1) to one of my contacts.

Started about a week ago.  I can send them from my Mac, but not my phone.  Other iPhone users are receiving iMessages from me. Just not this one person.  I also note that in my contact info for her on my phone, I cannot select iPhone as her mobile device. Just "mobile".  She has an iPhone.  Very puzzled as to why this is occurring now.  Any thoughts?

Try this. I don't know I it will help but it solved a similar issue I had a while back. In the messages conversation with this person tap the time at the top of your screen to scroll to the top of the page and tap Contact. Are the messages being sent to the phone number or the email?
In my situation they where being sent to their actual email account and therefore where not received. This was the fix
From the contact of this person scroll down and tap Send Message then select the phone number from the options that pop up. Send a message and then check the Message app. In my situation that created a second conversation with that person which went to their phone number. I delete the old conversation so as I didn't get confused.
Long winded, I know. Not an easy thing to explain. Hope that helps

  • I want to send iMessages from my email address

I seem to have the opposite problem of most iMessage users. I want my iMessage to use my email address to send messages, NOT my phone number.
I am currently living overseas, but all of my contacts are still back home, so I want to use iMessage with my email address, since my email address is permanent, while my overseas phone number is temporary. I have set up iMessage to start all conversations from my email address. This has worked for several months, but occasionally it will switch back to using my phone number, breaking up the conversation on the recipient's phone. Although my contacts all iMessage me from their email addresses (to ensure they don't get dinged for overseas SMS), occasionally my phone will receive messages from their phone numbers, breaking up the conversation on my phone.
iOS appears to choose sending iMessages from phone numbers and email addresses at random. How do I ensure that my phone consistently uses my email address for messages, as it is set up to do?
    Thanks.

Settings > Message > Send & Receive > Start New Conversations From ...
Of course, this will apply only to new conversations.  If you are replying to something that someone else sent to your email address, then it will be sent from your email address.

  • Why does my iphone send all text from only one of my contacts to my email?

Why does my iphone send all text from only one of my contacts to my email? I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this issue with the Iphone 5s...

imessage has a new setting that shows all emails associated with your apple id.  There are two sections, send and receive.  Since you are using the same apple id, Im sure if you adjust one of those settings to your mobile number instead of your appleid, it wont send double.
You might also have to adjust your wifes settings too, so those emails dont overlap

  • Macbook and iPhone iMessages from different contact?

I was using iMessage on my Macbook Pro talking to a group of friends and the messages were showing up as the contact they had my number listed at in their phone. However, once I got a new iPhone 5, iMessages from my Macbook Pro started to come through as an iMessage from my email address, not my contact. Is there somehow I can make iMessages from my Macbook Pro come through as my contact in someones phone?

On your Mac, go to iMessages > Preferences > Accounts.
Select your iMessage account which should be your Apple ID registered with iMessage.
At Start New Converstations From, you can select your iPhone's phone number if that is what you prefer and if that is what you have selected for Start New Conversations From with your iMessage settings on your iPhone.

  • How do I get iMessage on my Mac and iPad Mini to send from my phone number instead of email?

How do I get iMessage on my Mac and iPad Mini to send from my phone number instead of email? I've signed out and signed backed in on all devices but it still doesn't work. Phone number shows up on my iPhone only. Apple support article does not help, the screen don't even match mine.

    Hi believer924,
Happy Holidays!  What version of Mac OS are you working with?  The article below will explain how to confirm your phone number is linked to your Apple ID for iMessage.  On your Mac, you should be able to remove the checkmark in front of your email address in the "You can be reached by iMessage at" and "Start New Conversations from" sections of iMessage settings.
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201349
Your iPhone telephone number is linked to your Apple ID when you sign in to FaceTime or iMessage. This allows you to use your iPhone number with FaceTime and iMessage on other iOS devices.
This feature isn't available on iPod touch (3rd generation) and iPad (1st generation).
This feature is available with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later.
On OS X, find out which addresses are enabled:
In Messages, choose Messages > Preferences > Accounts. Select iMessage in the left column. Your contact preferences should appear under "You can be reached for messages at:."
    OS X:
Phone number missing on OS X
If your phone number isn't listed on your Mac, follow these steps:
Update to the latest version of OS X on your Mac.
Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you're using on your iPhone.
Sign out of your Apple ID at these locations on your Mac:
Messages > Preferences > Accounts tab. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out.
FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Open FaceTime and Messages, then sign in to your Apple ID in Preferences.
If your phone number still isn't listed on your Mac, follow these steps:
Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign out of your Apple ID on your Mac at the following locations:
Messages > Preferences > Accounts tab. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out.
FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Sign in to your Apple ID on your iPhone.
When activation is complete, your Apple ID and all verified email addresses should be visible in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and also in Settings > FaceTime.
Open FaceTime and iMessage, then sign in to your Apple ID in Preferences.

Triple check the Outgoing Mail server info that you entered in your Mail account. If that area says the info is optional enter the outgoing mail server and your password anyway. Also if you have more than one email account check the server that is selected for the GoDaddy account and make sure it's the correct server for the account.

  • Imessage wont send unless i add email in a seperate contact

i have just updated mine and the hubbys iphone 4 and mine works fine i can send imessages to family without any hiccups just by goin into my contacts findin them and sendin a txt as you normally wud except it says now imessage... but when i try and send to my hubby it says normal text message yet hes got the new software??? so i tryed his phone to text my cousin and it worked for imessage it just wont send to me unless i type my email in his phone and then it wil send as an imessage but then he has 2 boxes of messages from me 1 normal green tetxs and 1 imessage box in his messages when mine are all under the same messages he text me yesterday and when i replied testing earlier mine was sent in the same message list bit confusin to explain lol its very strange his is playing up yet works to everyone else and my family  just by using there numbers he has in his contacts already not emial as i dont have there emails yet he has to have my email to allow it to work??? any ideas???

about 10 minutes ago, we tested out if he was able to send to me, he was able to and i was able to send back.. to be honest, its pretty frustrating as to why this was such an issue for me and not for him, and was fixed with a single imessage from him (that up to 10 minutes ago was not accessible to me because he was not "registered"). Anyways everything is fine now. thank you!

  • Sending iMessages from Messages Beta comes from email only

I have an iPhone so naturally all of my contacts receive iMessages from me via my phone number. Majority of these contacts do not have my email address. While my iPhone is properly syncing with the Messages Beta App on Lion every time I respond to an iMessage it comes from my email address and my contacts ask who this is. Is there a way to fix this? Does Apple plan to address this for the final version?

    Hi,
It is possible to Link various ID s in the iMessages setting on the Phone.
It is probably possible to do this in Messages Beta on the Mac although I saw nowhere obvious.
Check what is ticked form one name/ID in System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars.
My son had trouble sending from his Apple ID on his iPhone until he looked at the setting on his phone.  I surmise the reverse is also true.

  • Why can't i send an email from a group in my contacts

why can't i send an email from a group in my contacts? In the address bar of my email just shows up the title of my group...

You are not doing anything wrong. Unfortunately, that's just the way that the built in mail app works. It really is a basic no frills mail app with not much to offer compared to other apps.
There are third party apps that let you create groups and email to those groups. I don't use either of these, but I've seen them recommended here in the past.
