IMessage Group Chat Appears in Multiple Chat Windows

Hi all!
I am having an issue with iMessage on one of my group chats. There are about seven of us in the group chat and sometimes our group chat will randomly appear in a different window (based on who is sending a message). For example, I may be texting the group in our original chat (Chat A) and someone will reply to me, but it appears as a new chat (Chat B) with all the same members.
Most of us are using iPhone 5 or 6, but not everyone has updated to iOS 8 (I suspect the new operating systems are causing the issue). I have updated my phone and iPad to the newest system and just recently updated to Yosemite on my MacBook Air, but still have the issue.
The weird thing is, not everyone sees multiple chats/threads. Sometimes only one person appears to be texting in Chat A for a few people, or I might have Chat A, Chat B, and Chat C, but other members of the chat group do not.
I know this is all pretty confusing, but was wondering if anyone else is experiencing a similar issue? I have another group chat with only three people total and we do not have this issue. I really suspect it has to do with the operating systems.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! (Also, I posted in the iPhone community because the majority of the group uses iPhones to send messages, but if anyone has advice on another community that would be more helpful please send it along!)

This happens with me as well.
Messages has 2 threads with the 3 same people. The group threads are named the same. Messages will appear in one of the 2 threads with no regular pattern. Deleting 1 group deletes that message history but can temporarily relieve the problem.
On my Macbook running Mavericks there is a single group. I have never had the multiple group problem on my Macbook Messages app. This only appears to happen on Messages on iOS 7 and 8.

I too have a question about how im works in a group setting that I came across today.
I have a group of friends all in Canada(so there's no group messaging option in the settings->messages). Everyone had im enabled, then one person disabled it and now there is no group from my view. However, I'm receiving messages from other members and it shows up in the group view. If I were to reply it'd go as an sms. The same would happen if I were to individually msg that disabled im user(makes sense). But I'm confused as to how the group is not failing for the others but instead for me. This group was created by me, but that doesn't matter since there's another group it fails at too, so I'm completely lost here. Every other member in the group is able to use im in the group convo except me!

W/ Multiple chat accounts...which is sending?

I have multiple chat accounts that I use for different purposes. The new iChat app consolidates everything into one neat column...but takes control away from me. How can I make sure, from the very beginning, to choose a specific account to send FROM? Now with the new Messages Beta installed, I see no clear way there either.
I wish Apple would put a very clear way...a pulldown or some way to choose...the sending account...a very clear "TO" and "FROM."

Thanks for the points.
It has taken a while to find all the little quirks iChat 6 had over previous versions.
I also used iChat 4 for much of my stuff (my tower) until I got my iMac (Lion) and there are quite s few differences between the two versions.
I have tried Messages "Full Screen" but this only seems to take the Mesage window itself to the new pane (two finger gesture left or right on my Mouse).
It does not take the Buddy Lists with it which seems a little odd.
I never really spent time trying to get Spaces to work in earlier versions to find it useful so I have no idea on that front.

When I message someone, the chat appears half way ...

Alright, last night I had this problem that is still continuing today. When I chat somebody the chat appears not in the correct spot. Sometimes half way up the page, sometimes one message up, it's confusing. How would I fix this problem, I can go more in depth with this problem if you'd like.
I am not going to post any screenshots or gifs since I don't know if I am allowed.

Can i video chat with someone on a windows pc using yahoo messenger?

hi, i am considering buying a macbook laptop and would like to know before i purchase, can i video chat with someone using a windows pc with vista os on it if we are both using yahoo messenger? if so please tell me how to set that up correctly b/c the tech support site hasnt been helpful. Also, can i plug my Logitech QuickIM or ExpressIM webcam into the usb port and the macbook pick it up and allow me to use it with yahoo messenger to video chat with? can i still use the headphone earbud that came with the webcamera also if i plug it into the headphone jack on the macbook? if so how do you do that? i know that macbook has a built in webcamera, but i like to turn the camera instead of having to turn the computer all the time to show different parts of areas, etc. in my house, etc. please help me so i will know whether or not to purchase it or not. and also, can i use microsoft outlook to check my email with on a macbook, or what email program would i need to use?

regarding video, yes you can do a video chat with another pc user. the pc side has to right click your name and find the "view video" (using yahoo mesenger and built in cam)
have not use audio though so i can not assure you that it would work. (but most probably it would)
as to using external cam and mic, you can try to borrow someone else cam or go to a mac store and ask for a demo
as to microsoft outlook... there is no mac version of microsoft outlook as far as i know. (correct me if im wrong) how ever you can use bootcamp and have windows installed and use your mac as if your using windows

As of August 2013 this DOES NOT WORK with the Windows 8 version. To prove: Start a text chat, let both parties create a few messages. Follow method for clearing chat (Windows-C, Settings, Options, Clear History) Go back into Skype chat of same person as before Entire history is still there. Shut down PC and restart. Go into Skype. Open chat window for same user. Entire history is still there. Install Skype for Desktop Log on Go into settings, IM/SMS Set history to "do not save history" Clear history Log off Skype for Desktop Go back into Skype Windows 8 version History all still there. DO NOT KEEP TELLING US THIS SOLUTION - IT DOES NOT WORK. You demonstrate that you're more interested in getting points in here than actually testing the supposed solution you suggest. Limitations on multiple chats..

I have created a server program in java that takes 2 people, puts them in chat, takes the next 2 people, puts them in chat, take 2 more people puts them in chat , etc..
Essentially it manages the transfer of data between chatrooms of 2 people..
I am going to create a website using this functionality, however I do need to know how many chats a computer can handle at once before it messes up. Where can I find information like this.. Is there a limit? I need to know in case lots of people use the chat functionality on my website.
Also, if there is a limit, I need to set up the chat functionality on multiple computers yet I have no idea how to do this..
Any advice on anything in this post would be much appreciated :).

a limit? Yes it depends on the hardware it runs on, how well it is coded and other factors such as this. The best way to find out would be to do load testing on it to see at which point it is no longer usable that will give you your answer.

IMessage group keeps opening "new groups"

So my friends and I opened an iMessage group, to chat. But somehow, every once in a while, conversations get shifted to a new "group/screen" with exactly the same people. This is very annoying, how can we solve this?

Another advantage of list view (for me) is that if there are a number of keywords on the clip, I can see more of them.
The keyword editor will only stretch a limited amount and sometimes doesn't display all the keywords. It's also impossible to tell from the keyword editor whether there are multiple keyword collections on one long clip (if they overlap).
In the browser list view, the disclosure triangle tells you there are items to view, and if you twirl it, you can see how many groups of keywords are assigned to that clip. They are listed separately.
If you stretch out the browser column containing the clip names, you can see more keywords than it's possible to see in the keyword editor without clicking in the editor and navigating with the left or right arrows.
(Well, I know what I mean, even if nobody else does).

How do I move a group of tabs before closing a window?

I recently lost all my custom settings on Firefox after an aggressive tech support person "cleaned" my browser settings. When this happened, I lost the ability to move my open tabs to a new group before closing the window they were in.
Previously, when I had multiple windows open, and I initiated an "Exit" or "Close" command on one of the open windows, 2 things happened:
(1) First I received a warning message asking me if I wanted to close the window
(2) Then I received a second warning message asking me if I wanted to move my tabs before closing the window.
Now, I only receive the 1st message, and I am no longer offered the option of moving my tabs to a new window before closing the current window.
I've tested this both with and without the Tabs Group Manager which I was using prior to the time my browser was "cleaned", and I still have not found a way to restore this missing feature.
Unfortunately, I don't know if this feature/option is:
-- provided as a default in Firefox
-- a customizable feature in Firefox, or
-- a feature in a Firefox add-on.
Can anyone tell me where/how to restore this option to move a group of tabs before closing a window?

Thank you, guigs2, for your feedback, and my apologies for the confusion. After rereading my question, I realize I made a couple of typos in my original help request which cannot now be corrected. Specifically, the 2nd sentence in the first paragraph should have read:
"I lost the ability to move GROUPS of open tabs to a new WINDOW before closing the window they were in."
This means that, as far as I can tell, neither of your plugin recommendations applies:
-- Apparently, Tab Mix Plus only applies to manipulating tabs WITHIN the existing window and, unless I am missing something, I did not see any reference to the option I'm looking for -- specifically, an automatic prompt offering to move groups of tabs to a new window before closing the existing window.
-- Unfortunately, the other plugin you mentioned (Tag Cloud) appears to be non-functional in the current version of Firefox, based on the most recent user reviews.
In light of this, I will consider the possibility of resubmitting my question with the typos corrected -- and, in the meantime, if there is any additional feedback that you (or anyone else) can offer, I would be most grateful!

Can't open multiple FF windows anymore

Hey there,
maybe two months ago I updated to FF 31.0 and then the problems started.
The first thing I recognized, one of my AddOns didn't work as usual, but I thought
"ok, new FF version, maybe in one or two weeks it'll work as well"
Then I recognized that I can't open anymore multiple FF windows. Tabs works as
usual, but there is no way to open more than one window. I tried:
- Strg+N
- rightclick on tab and "open in new window"
- drag&drop tab outside of the FF window
... nothing works!
A new update of my AddOn was released, but this didn't change anything.
Then I exported my Favorites, uninstalled FF 31.0 and installed 32.0 beta.
I reinstalled my AddOn, few days ago I installed 33.0 beta - always the same!
Please gimme some advice =)

Group policy Preferences server 2008 and windows 7

Hi I have been struggling with an issue with group policy preferences for a while now with regard to pushing out printers to windows 7 (32/64 bit) Machines. I have two DC servers one is 2008 and the other is 2008 r2. I have setup the group policies on the
2008 server as it is the only one i am allowed to access regularly to do this.
Basically here is my problem. I have created multiple GPO's to send out printers from out print server to classrooms across the school district I work for, I have a mix of xp and windows 7 machines. I have the server setup with both 32 and 64bit drivers
for all printers on that server, we have a mix of oki and hp and ricoh. I know all the connections work and the drivers work well, however when I push them out using the group policy, the windows 7 machines don't install the printers. The xp machines do this
perfectly well when I install the client side extensions patch, but they just will not pull down on the 7 machines unless i install the printer first manually, then delete it and then run gpupdate. In that instance it will work, but obviously i don't want
to have to go round thousands of computers doing this manually.
Just as a side note, each classroom has its own user account and its own printer.
If anyone has any advice as to how i can go about resolving this issue i would greatly appreciate it, this has been a problem i have been researching and trying to fix since January.......

gpresult/h gpreport.html with admin privileges to collect group policy result on the troubled Windows 7 clients to check the issue. Besides, we can also check event logs in Event Viewer to see if some related error events were logged.

Point and Print Restrictions under both User Configuration and Computer Configuration. To have a consistent experience, it’s recommended that we disable the policy setting in both locations if we are dealing with mixed-level clients.

How to stop concurrent programs from appearing in the SRS window ?

Hi All,
We have hundreds of custom concurrent programs registered under a custom application.
Except for 3 hidden programs (which will be submitted internally from another concurrent program), all the others should appear in the SRS window. Therefore, instead of individually registering each program in the request group, we have registered the application itself, in the request group.
However by doing this, the 3 hidden concurrent programs are also appearing in the SRS window. The concurrent program define form doesn’t allow us to uncheck the “show in SRS” checkbox if we have parameters define for a concurrent program.
Is there any way that we can prevent these hidden programs from appearing in the SRS window, in our case?

Outlook contact groups not appearing in iTunes Sync

I was having trouble getting contact groups to appear in iTunes froma outlook. For awhile I got 1 group to appear and no others. I expermentally deleted that group and it remained while nothing else showed up. Apple support had no idea what to do and I stumbled upon a solution eventually. Since other people seem to have had a similar problem judging from the forums I thought I'd post my fix if nothing else is working for you.
When you create a new group in MSoutlook (by right clicking and selecting new folder) in order to keep your contacts orginized it makes that folder in a subfolder of whichever folder you clicked on. This doesn't display in MSoffice at all, all folders simply appear in a straight line with no way for you to tell where they are. The issue is that if you have these groups in any other directory besides Contacts they will not appear in iTunes. In my case everything was a subfolder under Suggested Contacts. In order to fix/check this simply click on your groups 1 at a time and select the "move folder" option, select Contacts, then hit OK. Rinse and repeat until all your folders are filed under contacts.
Once you've completed that open iTunes, go into the info tab of your device, and sync contacts with outlook. Just select sync all if nothing appears. After the sync all your groups should appear below for you to pick and choose which groups you'd like to upload. I hope this helps.

I would like to create two folders - one for me and one for my wife. So under 'My Contacts' in Outlook 2010 it looks like this:
Suggested contacts
Contacts
Suggested contacts (email address)
Simon's contacts
Julie's contacts
iTunes has picked up these sub-folders - THANKS!
However, I would like to keep the 'Contacts' folder with all the contacts in and only copy selected contacts from there and place them into my wife's folder and mine. The 'copy' function does not seem to work.
Obviously my contacts are different to my wife's and she does not want hundreds of names on her contact list.
So, basically how do I copy contacts without moving them out of the contacts folder and manually typing them all back in my wife's folder (some contacts we both need)?
