IMessage has become unreliable?

Has anyone else noticed that iMessage has become horribly unreliable in the past few weeks?
I regularly use iMessage to chat with friends, and my account is activated on an iPhone 5S, iPad Mini and two Macs running Mavericks. Until a few weeks ago every time I got a message it would appear on all devices and I could answer from any which is very convenient.
However lately the messages will appear only on my phone, then suddenly if I reply from the Mac it will 'catch up' and start working again, but if there's a pause in the conversation before another text arrives it will appear only on the phone again. Obviously I've done the usual signout/signin to no avail. Messages are being sent to the phone number not e-mail address, and yes they are ALL blue ie all going over iMessage not SMS.
I believe Apple made some server change to address people who move from iOS to e.g. Android but seem to have completely broken iMessage for the rest of us in the meantime.

Working fine for me.
I would try resetting your iOS devices (the "reset all settings" option).

I have Yosemite 10.10 on an early 2009 iMac, and an Elgato Video capture device with latest software (1.1.5)
The messages "Device could not be initialized" and also "Please connect your Elgato Video capture hardware to any USB 2.0 port" come up after I have had a shutdown and restart.
For 2 or 3 years i have operated this system with no trouble, but as the iMac software became upgraded, and also the Elgato S/W upgraded, the problem has come up, so now I am reluctant to shut down. However, there are times it must be, such as when the power company shuts service down for maintenance - happens a lot lately. I have tried different ports, and done the unplug and replug routine, but it takes dozens or even hundreds of attempts until one time it works. then i have to be sure not to "quit" after a recording session, or the problem comes up all over again. Also I tried using a USB hub, with no success. Also, I have tried to reset of the USB bus routine (Command-Option-P and R keys during startup) with no success.

Get rid of CleanMyMac and DivX. Add much more RAM. You don't have nearly enough for all that you are trying to load.

One contact's iMessage has become silent.

No changes made by me, that I am aware of. Yesterday iMessages from my girlfriend became silent always.

If iMessage has become deactivated on your iPhone, which, apparently it has, the phone will need to send an SMS to activate it again. Therefore, you'll need a cellular connection.

Spotify on Windows Phone 8.1 has become practically unusable

Hey Folks, I've had this problem for a long time (many many months) and have been too lazy to post assuming that this is a issue affecting loads of others and that it would just get sorted but I've come to the point where I really need to find out what is happening. I absolutely love Spotify and use it reuglarly on my ipad and windows phone however my love affair with Spotify on my phone ispractically over. The app has become really unreliable and more often than not...unusable. Often it takes forever to load and I just see the scrolling (loading) green dots for ages before I give up. Ages being 5-10 minutes before I lose interest. Assuming I do get in, I then go to my playlists and the whole thing happens again, more and more scrolling which sometimes results in the playlists being revealed or again i just simply give up. If I do get to a playlist, I will select it....cue more scrolling whilst it tries to load the track lists which invariably never happens. Art work, none existent and if I do manage to play one track, the rest of the tracks on the album fail to get listed. If I even dare to go back to look at the playlists again, the whole thing starts over. It can literally take me twenty minutes to get round to playing one track! You'd think that this might be the sort of behaviour you'd get in a area of bad signal but this happens when i'm at home using my 50mb wifi and despite being connected to my wifi, which is reliable on all my other systems, I often get the message saying that Spotify is offline or can't connect to the network. I assume that this isn't a problem with my phone and is affecting others out there but it's become intolerable and since i pay my monthly premium Spotify subscription I expect a product that works. I understand that things get glitchy but this has been happening for the best part of the year and I really should now cancel my payments. If the problem gets fixed then I'd gladly sign up again and pay the fee but at the mo I'm not sure what I'm paying for. I never have this problem with the app on my ipad so clearly this is a windows phone problem. I have tried deleting the app and resintalling but nothing seems to work. Could you guys advise anything else I can try or at least let me know that you're aware of the problem and are trying to fix it and let us know when an update will be sent out. Hi, So glad it's not just me that is having this issue. The app is virtually unusable at the moment. The thought of having to uninstall and then spend hours, maybe days, re-syncing is not something I'll consider. Just sent the following e-mail - I'll let you know their response. I have been a Spotify premium customer for a fair while now, and up until recently, would have recommended you to anyone - in fact, I have done just that, many times. However, seeing as you seem unable to sort out the issues with the app on Windows phone, I feel our relationship is at breaking point, and that makes me sad. A summary of the issues I have.1) Speed - It would be quicker for me to go visit the band, ask then to set up their instruments and play a song for me than it is to start the app, and get to a playlist - even when connected to wifi. When I eventually get to a playlist, try and open it, it crashes. Sometimes it just stops (seemingly randomly) and says 'pending'. I later found out that this is because songs on the playlist had been removed by the artist (yes, I'm looking at you Prince!!!). Once I'd fired up the desktop app, removed these from the playlist) and then re-opened the app on my phone (after it had crashed) it would start syncing again. And then stop. And then crash. Surely it could simply skip unavailable files rather than just stop. I'm really rather fed up. I love Windows Phone. It's UI is far better than anything Android or that other lot have come up with, it syncs with my other Windows devices, and the majority of the apps I use (with the exception of iPlayer) are pretty darn perfect. They work. They don't crash, nor take an age to load. So please, please, please tell me that a) you are working on a fix, and b) that you will treat us Windows Phone users as equals. I think a pin inside my ipod has become a bit loose and now my iPod wont charge

other the past weeks my iPod has become very unreliable at charging. it was not until today that i considered looking into the charging port! for weeks ive just been blowing in it! a few of the pins inside my ipod charging port (i think 2-3) have become a bit... loose and some seem wonky. i take a great amount of care with my iPod and will apple be able to service it? thanks

I'll like to know why my macbook has become so unresponsive?

It has started a time ago, probably since Lion. But with every update in Safari, iTunes and OS X it has become worst. And Aperture, uffff, another story. When this happens the fan goes very fast, it is very rare I can normally hear the fan of the laptop. If I have any other app opened like Mail or iMessage or any other they start crawling. Sometimes when a notification comes, whatever I'm doing freezes! I have tried a lot of things and whatever I do fix the problem for a few days. The only quick fix is to turn off the computer and turn it on again. I'm getting very tired of this. I'm not into Macs for slowness! By the way, I don't have too many apps, documents, etc. I still have more than half of disk space. I'll appreciate any idea, other than throw the laptop away and change to a cheaper DELL, lol.

How much memory (RAM not hard drive) do you have? While 2GB is the OS X 10.7 and 10.8 minimum, 4GB is recommended.
If you look at your Activity Monitor (In Launchpad, under Utilities), under system memory what does it say for page ins/page outs? If page outs are more than 10% to 15% of page ins, then you can use more memory for what you run. The system writes a page of memory to the hard drive when it runs out of physical memory to run programs, and that can take a toll on system performance if it happens too much.

My imac has become extremely slow

Hi, I have a 4 year old 27 inch imac, running 10.10.3; it has become extremely slow to boot up, to open apps and to get online. I'm a fairly heavy user of dropbox, and I am wondering if that is the issue -- other than that I run very run of the mill apps -- itunes, word/ppt/excel/, ical, imessage, firefox and safari, adobi acrobat, some use of iphoto. Suggestions?

As an update, I installed an update 5.7on my Mac laptop, now the Lightroom 5.0 has become a "Lightroom Mobile" version. How can change it back to the laptop version?

LR on your laptop is still a desktop version. It is just now able to upload to the cloud to replicate photos to either http://lightroom.adobe.com/ or an iPad that has LR Mobile installed.
I think you probably just want to change the LR 5 identity plate back so it doesn’t mention LR Mobile all the time. Hover over the identity-plate area, and click on the little triangle that appears, then choose Change Identity Plate.

"Remote" App Has Become Sluggish, Slow to Respond

I've searched this and other forums and have yet to see the issue I'm having addressed. After successfully installing and using the iPhone "Remote" app to control my Apple TV, its performance has become erratic. While selecting and/or swiping actions were instantaneous, they're now delayed, sometimes by four or five seconds. My Apple IR remote still works perfectly. Also, the Remote app on my iPhone works fine on the TV set up in various Apple Stores I've visited. A clue that may be relevant is that my RF Dish receiver remote is a bit slow now, too, although not as bad as the WiFi-driven iPhone Remote app. It seems that something in the room is creating these problems (there are no fluorescent lights) and all worked fine months ago. Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? (I didn't post this on the Apple TV forum since that device and its dedicated remote are functioning normally.)

Encountered this too and only recently. In my case appears to coincide with downloading most recent version of iTunes.

ok well it seems unlikely that your issue is with the appletv itself.
could well be wifi interference.
any cordless phones or cordless doorbells, or any new cars turned up close by with remote car alarms, or a new microwave (or old one starting to fail) ? all this sort of stuff can kill wifi.

I was trying to move iphoto library to my external hardrive, realised it was incompatible with Mac. The iphoto will not open now, message is "Iphoto library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable". I have read other posts.

I was trying to save a copy of my iphoto library by copying images to my external harddrive. I wasn't sure how to do it, realised the hard drive is not compatible. Now the iphoto library wont open and reads "iphoto library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable".
I have tried to use options command and click on iphoto then rebuild yet nothing happens and same error message occurs.
I have gone to my personal drive, desktop, iphoto library, and found file Albumdata.xml and when i click on it, there is a lot of text in it, i am assuming these are all my photos.
I have tried clicking and dragging this file to iphoto app and it doesn't work, as the same error comes up in iphoto being in use or unreadable....
What am I meant to do with albumdata.xml file and how do I reopen Iphoto from here on in?
Please help as I am not technically minded and still trying to understand how to use the Macbook at all as I am used to Microsoft.

Rule Number One - NEVER go directly uinto the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it and making any change no matter how small can corrupt your library and cause data or photo loss
Exactly how were you trying to save a copy of your iPhoto library?
Albumdata.xml does not contain your photos - and again NEVER make any changes to the content of the iPhoto library - no dragging - no changes - never go into the library
We need to know exactly what you did
And probalby the easiest solution is to load your backup from before you messed things up
For reference after you get things working
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

Recently my Macbook Pro has become sort of lagging. The lagging is sort of intermittent, but is possibly becoming more frequent. Sometimes when I type, it takes a while to catch up and gives me the rainbow wheel mouse while this happens. I have been getting the rainbow wheel thing a lot lately due to lagging in typing or clicking a link and it takes (seemingly) forever to load (based on how fast it used to be). Sometimes when I scroll using the trackpad (my main method of scrolling), it takes a while to actually scroll. When I open a new tab, what should be my top sites sometimes is a distorted/pixelated picture of black or black and white or whatever was on the screen previously. I am also having a lot of flash problems: I'll be using the internet and then randomly the flash will just close and I'll get an apple pop-up saying that my flash program unexpectedly closed and I should send a report to apple. I refresh the page and the flash is working fine, but the closing will still randomly happen. I use my macbook pro mainly for internet use and microsoft office use since I am a student. This only started recently and I haven't used any microsoft office products since before this started so I have really just been using Safari (it's been a while since I've used firefox also). Therefore, I don't believe an application is causing this. As I am typing this, I ran a software update and found that 10.6.8 is available. I think I will hold off until I get a few responses on this discussion. This computer is JUST over three years (my extended warranty just ran out... of course).

Pages on my iPad3 has become very slow to open documents after upgrading to ios7. I've clicked on a folder 5 minutes ago and am still waiting. The work-around seems to be to force-close it, but I've needed to do this many times in the last few days.

I posted on here about this a few weeks back and someone suggested force-closing Pages -- and that does indeed enable me to open things -- but I have had to force-close many times in the last 24 hours, which is worrying. Are there any other suggestions?
I am sometimes also finding that, when I have been writing something and then click on "documents" the screen goes blank, there is a wait of around a minute and then the same document is re-displayed, before clicking "documents" again lets me look at other documents -- which is a pain if I am trying to move between documents repeatedly. Again, words of wisdom on this would be great.
Pages under iOS6 opened quickly, and there was an immediate loss of performance when I upgraded. I am finding this very frustrating because I don't feel that the new Pages has added to the facilities I was using, but a slowness to open documents is frustrating.

All my photo's are missing from iPhoto and I'm getting a message "your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable"

Yesterday when I opened iPhoto all of my photo's were missing. After many hours of frustrating time looking how to resolve, I decided to try again this morning. When I tried to open iphoto, I got the message I referenced above regarding the library is either in use or has become unreadable.
My photos are not in iPhoto anymore. There's nothing there. iphoto acts like its never even been set up. I have iPhoto '11 version 9.4.3. I have OS X Lion version 10.7.5. However, when I go to "All My Files" and then under "images", there are over 10,000 images. I see my photos (I guess it's all of them - i have no idea how many there were) and other "images" also. When i go to "pictures" I only see the 15 or so items I have scanned. In "iPhoto Library", there is 1 picture of what looks like a deck of playing cards with flowers on them - I don't know where that came from. But also in "iPhoto Library" under the heading "desktop", it shows a size of over 27GB and under "kind" it says "package". Still under desktop and "Photo Booth Library" it shows 53GB and under "kind" it says "Photo Booth Library". Before I opened iPhoto to view my photo's, I went to "empty trash" yesterday (not in iPhoto) and it showed over 65,000 items to delete. There were no more than 200 that I could actually see. So, I don't understand. I let it delete a couple of thousand before I stopped it because I didn't know what it was doing. I know - not too smart. I don't know if that has anything to do with iPhoto or not; I'm just throwing that out there. Today I went to "empty trash" and it now shows the 200 items that I can see in there. Don't know what happened.
I do have a time capsule but not sure if I’m using it correctly. If you were to tell me to restore to a certain point, I’d have to be walked thru the process.
I downloaded “iPhoto Library Manager”, not exactly sure how to use it, but got a message basically saying the library nor the database could be loaded and that album data file for the library “iPhoto Library” could not be read.
I’ve spent hours and hours and hours searching the web for answers but I’m scared to do much of anything thinking I could end up losing all my photos if I haven’t already.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
