IMessage: I can send pictures but I can't receive it correctly/it doesn't show

Hi everyone, I can receive pictures by iMessage but can't actually see it, I only have a message saying "click tot download" but doesn't work ! Can anybody help me ? Btw, I only use wi-fi on my iPhone atm for some reasons -so it's like I'm using my iPhone as an iPod because there's no sim card inside it-.

Just to be clear, iMessages can only be sent between Apple devices.
Check your settings here:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Make sure your phone number it is listed in You Can Reach Me At and selected in Start New Conversations From

I have an iPhone 4 and my iMessage will not send pictures but I can recieve them.

I can send it as a text message but I can't send a picture thru iMessage and it just started happening. I have tried resetting the network settings, turning iMessage on and off, turning facetime on and off, turning the network on and off, I turned the phone on and off, I held the lock button and home button then turned it back on, I turned SMS/MMS on and off, I updated my roaming capabilities with Verizon, I deleted the threads of messages and sending different pictures thinking it was the picture itself but nothing has worked.....any suggestions??

Settings > Messages > Receive At > Apple ID.
Select your Apple ID and at the menu window that appears, select Sign Out.
Follow this by signing back in with your Apple ID to see if this makes any difference.

Perhaps some more detail on how you have Messages set up would help in diagnosing your problem?
My response was simply to tell you that iMessage does work with photos in iOS 6.
There could be a transient problem with the iMessage servers which is causing your problem.

That's more likely to be a carrier issue than an iPhone issue. You should each contact your respective carriers.

It happened after the last update.. when I send a picture or video, it would show as sent, but then have the red exclamation icon and say message not delivered. I would try and deliver multiple times but it just won't work.

It depends if the contact is not an apple product it will not work at all ..iMessage is only used for apple products.Just check.Well you should know if the contact is an apple user or not so yeah thats all really.But if it's it that important f.of a pic download a texting app it helps alot.

Sent as an MMS, or as an iMessage?
If sent as an MMS, the carrier reduces the size and quality of a video sent as an MMS.
The same shouldn't apply with iMessage but it might.

Hi. I have an iPad 2 and a Mac Mini that aren't able to send or receive pictures. My wifi is restricted, and I need to know what website it is that apple iMessage uses to send its pictures so that I can submit it for approval.

Changed my password
Changed the number to 000000000 on my iPhone
Switched iMessage off on my iPhone
Deleted the device from my iCloud account.... HELP.

Hi zara343, I had a similar problem. I have a iphone and my daughter changed from iphone to android. We couldn't receive text messages to each other, she had no other problems with her other contacts, just mine. It was driving me crazy. My phone kept recognizing her android as an iphone. Yes I turned iMessage off and yes I could receive my daughters messages, but my two other daughters and a few friends had iPhones, so I didn't get their messages. My problem is now fixed, I tried to send a message to my daughter and it came up undelivered, so I pressed the red exclamation mark to the right of the undelivered message and it gave me the option to try again, send as a text message or cancel. So I pressed send as a text message and my daughter received it, I tried again and message undelivered, so again I pressed the exclamation mark and went through the same process as before. I thought what a pain but did a third and now my iphone does not recognise her phone number as an iphone. So your husband would have to do this with his iphone and I am confident it will work, and me as an iphone user can keep iMessage switched on. Hope this helps.

Send Pictures but Cant Receive them

I can send pictures in emails to people but when those people try to send pictures back to me i dont get them. I have tried it from their iPhones so i know the address is right and we are all on yahoo servers. Is there a setting i have turned off?

When talking through normal text(not imessage), my texts send fine however,I don't receive all texts.

When sending a text via normal texting ( I turn my mobile data off whilst out and not on WiFi so I am not using IMessage ) I can send the message without a problem. However when the text reaches the person ive sent it to and they reply,I don't always receive the text they have replied with. I have tried doing simple things like turning the mobile data on and off again and nothing has changed,still not receiving all the texts I get sent. Any idea why this could be happening?

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
If the issues continue, you may need to consider restoring as new.

I have a prepaid iphone 4. cannot send picture messsages. all setting and updates are correct

For several days now my i4 has been super slow on internet. i message. no matter if im on wifi or data i cannot send photo messages. I regret to learn of the issues with iMessages, jeangenie6! Lets try to reset the network settings and test out the messages while Cellular Data is turned on and WiFi off. Here is how: settings > general > reset > reset network settings.

I can send pictures, but can't receive them.

When I send people picture messages, they receive them just fine.
But, when they send me a picture message, my phone doesn't react at all. I woudn't know they tried to send any message is they hadn't told me.
Is this a network issue? Should I contact my provider? I tried restarting the phone and the network connection.
