IMessage in iCloud

I just started using the IMessage tonight between my ipad2, iPhone and family's iPads and iPhones. If I send a message from my ipad2, it only posts to the recipients iPhone but shows up on both of my devices. When I send from my iPhone, the messages will show up on both devices of the recipient.  The same thing happens when they send to me from their devices.  If sent from their ipad, I only receive on iPhone.  If sent from their iPhone, I receive on both devices.  All systems have the ios5 operating system installed. The only setting that I can see is different is in the settings, messages.  There is a receive at..line.  On the iPhone, you have two addresses.  When going to the next screen, the sources are your cell number and your email address.  On the iPad, you can only enter email addresses here.  You don't have the option to set up a phone number.  I am not sure but I can only assume after all the research I have done on the settings that this is where the problem lies.  Can anyone shed some light on this?  I would appreciate it.

I would also like for iMessage to be stored in iCloud so that if I restore my iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or MacBook Pro, I can set up the device as new without having to worry about my messages being lost. This is the only part of iCloud that I still feel is "missing", aside from the fact that we're unable to see our Photo Stream on iCloud.com. Baking iMessage into iCloud's servers would mean that messaging would have a truly seamless aspect and that you could acess your content from anywhere, anytime, in any part of the world simply with your Apple ID card. Now THAT'S a seamless experience!

  • I reset my apple ID password but when I sign in to iMessage or iCloud it tells me incorrect password

My iPhone 5 wants me to sign in to iMessage and iCloud. I successfully reset my password using my pc and then tried signing in on my phone, but I keep getting told the password is incorrect. So I restarted my phone and tried again but got the same thing. Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi pete7685,
When you go to the My Apple ID website - are you able to sign in with your new password?  What about the www.icloud.com website?  If the password works in these two places, try deleting the iCloud account and adding it again on your iPhone.

  • Why can't I remove iMessage from iCloud backups?

Why can't I remove iMessage from iCloud backups?
I've noticed that my iCloud backups are constantly hitting their 5GB max, even after clearing out camera rolls, etc.
After some testing, I've found that iMessages are also backed up.   For someone like me, I'm constantly sending pictures / videos to friends and family, having a little guy under a year old (but that's not important).
In any case, it seems you can set iCloud backup for just about every app EXCEPT iMessages.   The only way I've found to solve this is to constantly delete message threads from my iPhone, so that they aren't taking up iCloud space.   But this honestly is a bit of a pain (okay, only a little bit)...  why can't I keep my messages around for as long as I want, without backing them up?

Make sure you have their icloud email they use for imessage in their contact information before sending them an imessage.

  • Imessage on icloud

Apple or anyone in the know... are there any plans to incorporate imessage from icloud.com?

Yes, the question is will Apple incorporate sending and recieving messages as a feature within the iCloud platform? This would be a very good move for apple, as Google has already incorporated Google Voice into there platform, a very powerful yet useful feature that allows its users to send/recieve text, initiate calls, manage voice mails, store all incoming and outgoing communications, and record incoming calls. The only thing it lacks is direct MMS multi media messaging. If you want to send a picture for instance via Google Voice, the media is uploaded to a web page and a link is sent to the recipiant and once the recipiant accesses the link they are diercted to the web page containing the picture that you wanted them to recieve.
As an avid user of both the iCloud and Google Voice platforms I would have to agree it seems only right that this feature should be incorporated with iCloud. Apple has built a reputation for intuitivness within its products; and with Facebook buying "Whatsapp" at over $16 billion and Google Voice already in full effect, the two factors alone suggests that the market for messaging and media messaging maybe on an incline. So, I wouldn't worry to much, I believe apple is soon to adopt and capitalize on this trend in order to remain relavent in this particular arena, as they are a software giant and I don't think they'll lag too long on this.

  • How do i shut 0ff my imessage on icloud because i now have a android

how do i shutb off my imessage omn icloud?

If you still have your iPhone, go to Settings>Messages and turn off iMessage.  If not, if you registered your device with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it.  You can also try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage by going to https://iforgot.apple.com.  If neither of those work you'll have to contact Apple support for assistance.

  • Iphone 6 -- iOS 8.1.3 -- screen constantly freezing, Apps instantly crashing, Photos not deleting, iMessages disappearing, iCloud not reflecting correct backups

Ever since downloading iOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 6, I've been experiencing quite a few issues (I am assuming all are related to the update, but not sure)
I apologize in advance for the lengthy post! Here goes:
         • Screen constantly freezes--sometimes it freezes on the home screen (no apps open), other times when I am in Settings, Photos or any of my downloaded apps. Each time this happens I have to restart the phone by holding the home and lock buttons in order to unfreeze the screen...this happens approximately 4-5x per day.
         • All of my apps either freeze or crash upon opening, and my Mail app either refuses to stay open or it will show an empty inbox with 'no mail' --even though my email has always been synced to the phone.
         • I am not receiving a lot of iMessages or incoming calls to my iPhone, but most of the missing iMessages will appear on my MacBook Pro. And when I do receive iMessages normally, entire portions of certain conversations--both sent & received--keep disappearing (whether my iphone is on all day or if I have to restart it). *the convo that has gone MIA on my iPhone will still appear on the other persons phone.
         • When I open Messages or Recent Call logs, the contact names do not appear..only 10-digit phone numbers. (Even though all of the #s are saved by name in Contacts).*This has only happened a few times so far.*
         • Furthermore--and most frustrating!--my camera and photos are practically inaccessible. Almost every time I open 'Photos', the app crashes.. I have no available storage to use the camera so when I try to select photos and hit 'delete' the app crashes instead of deleting the photos.
         • I have considered performing a factory reset... however, my iCloud states I have 4.6gb available (w/ 5gb plan) even though my photos are turned on in iCloud, and should be taking up most of the 5gb storage space..they appear 'On,' but do not show up under 'Manage Storage'...the only apps/documents/data shown are WhatsApp and Mail so I am afraid to reset the phone as I have no idea if the photos are actually backed up or not.   (Screenshots are attached)
If anybody has been experiencing any of the same issues I would greatly appreciate your insight or advice for how to fix this! I'm hoping it is just a bug with the new iOS software and not an issue with my phone itself as it is only 3 months old.. Thank you in advance!

**Adding to the final photo in my original post... When I select the 'Kendall Anderson's...This iPhone' using 324.2MB, Photo Library is turned 'On', but has 'No Data'....I know this is not possible because my photos that were previously backed up used up ~3.5GB of storage.
Either I am doing something wrong here, or my iPhone just has a mind of its own with this new update!

  • How do I delete imessages in icloud

how do I delete imessages in icloud

iMessages aren't in your iCloud account, except being included in your backup.  If you want to delete your iMessages, delete them from your devices within the Messages app.

  • So if iMessages deleted from one device are not deleted from others why not recover deleted iMessages from iCloud?

I accidentally deleted ALL the messages from my wife from my iPhone, nearly all of them iMessages.  Yet, I can see all of them on my iMac and on my MacPro.  Indeed, there is a discussion item (https://discussions.apple.com/message/21313040#21313040) that confirms that messages are deleted and maintained independently on each device, even though they are all ultimately resident only in Apple's cloud.
I would dearly love to have all of them back on my iPhone.  Yet, reading about 20 or so discussions here, the only way to recover them would be a recovery from my iTunes backup.  I have a somewhat recent backup, but I'll still lose about 100 messages that way.
So, if all the messages are still in the cloud, why CAN'T I recover them directly from the cloud to my iPhone?  Any ideas?  Any software?  Is this an App just begging to be built??
    Thanks

It depends on the type of email account you are using, not on iCloud.  If you are using an IMAP or exchange account, when you delete from one device, it is deleted from all devices.  If you are using a POP (POP3) account, it won't.  (iCloud email, Gmail and Yahoo are all IMAP accounts.)

  • Imessage in ICloud and Mac OS  10.8?

    Hi.
I dont get my I message working via iCloud id? I just got Mac OS 10.8 and iMessage but I dont get it to work with ICloud id.
The symptom is that when I try to logg in to my Apple Id it get stuck with nothing that happens. No respond at all. Not any error report just nothing.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Please give me some assistance.
    Göran W

    hi,
I have friends like this when their AppleID is different than their @me.com address.  iMessage use the AppleID and not the @me.com address.  In order to reach them, you need to use their AppleID which are in their case another email address that even may longer exist.
Maybe I'm wrong, but you should check what your AppleID is at https://appleid.apple.com and try to login iMessage with that and try this same ID for people to contact you.
I talk with Apple Customer Care about this arguing that this would make no sense of not being able to use the same AppleID and @me.com address.  He did agree but to no ends; they cannot change your AppleID since it is registering all the purchased.
If that your case too, that will make this thread interesting because it's quite a customer issue of not been able to use your @me.com as your primary email address.

  • Is there a way to remove stored iMessages from iCloud?

My phone will not back itself up because I do not have enough storage left.  However, I know that I do not need my iMessages or emails backed up.  Is there a way I can remove these unnecessary things from my iCloud?

You can delete those, by that removing from next backup.
Your emails do not go against your storage, unless those are icloud emails, cause they are not included in backup. Only e-mail settings are included and emails sync afterwards.

  • IMessage and iCloud not working?

I have the iphone 5s. I recently moved to the Dominican Republic and my phone had no problems at first, but after about a month my imessage stopped working. It says "waiting for activation" but it's been about two weeks. I don't know if it's related, but another problem I have is with my iCloud. It says that to use iCloud I must agree to the new terms and conditions but every time I try to do so it says "unable to connect to server." If anyone has any idea how to help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Use iMessage with iCloud email alias?

I set up iCloud with my old .mac / mobileMe account. So far no trouble.
But I've been using some email aliases that I use for actually emailing and kept the "core" email address (the iCloud log in) a "secret". (Just because I'm afraid of spam. An alias is easier changed than a whole Apple-ID with iCloud in the backseat now - in case I end up on a spammers-list).
Now when using iMessage I need to give out an email address (of course). I tried to use one of my iCloud addresses (aliases) but it won't accept those. Only the iCloud log-in Email address. Which I don't want to give to my friends or other people.
Is it supposed to ONLY work with your iCloud log in?

This worked for me as well. This is what I wrote in one of my previous replies above:
I'm still having problems with my aliases as well and haven't figured out yet how to solve them, but at least I was able to add all of the real and aliases emaill addresses in Settings>messages, as Received At addresses by adding them first directly into my Apple account (https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/9/wa/directToSignIn?w osid=HjlK10qeSWnPnWAP22tUF0&localang=en_US) and then I was able to enter all my aliases in the iPhone and iPad under the messages settings. Having figure out yet how to sync the iMessages between my iPhone and iPad, though.
But even though I had issues when I wrote the reply above, I was able to add my aliases and now I'm using it for iMessages without any issues. I think is worth trying to add the emails and aliases to the apple id account profile and do it more than once if it doesnt work the first time. I did it like three times until the server added and recognized my aliases There's still server issues causing headaches to people.
