IMessage in iOS 8 won't send/receive from my mobile number, but will send/receive from my email

When I send a message in iMessage it will only send using my email address, but will not send using my cell number (Verizon). When I go to Settings>Messages>Send&Receive I see my cell number and my email address (Apple ID) but I cannot select my cell phone number. I am only able to select my email address. This is the same under "Start new conversations from:". I have both iMessage and send as SMS on. Because of this I am not able to send a text to anyone not using iMessage.  I am running the latest build of iOS 8 available, per the Software Update section in my settings. Any help is appreciated.

What I did to fix the problem is: Go to your contacts and create a contact for yourself. Make sure you enter your name, your phone number and your apple ID email address. Then go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > scroll down to CONTACTS then select "My Info" > select the contact for yourself. Hopefully this works for you!

I apologize. I misread your statement.
The information that I provided about adding the phone number back to the iPad is valid and should work. Now as for the activation of messages, take a look at these support articles for starters. Hopefully, something in one of these will help.

  • I bought my iPhone 4s in the Uk and then brought to Cyprus where I live. I used Siri to call my husband 2 days ago without problem but now when I try to use Siri it won't call any local Cypriot number but will call my Uk contacts. Help please

I bought my iPhone 4s in the Uk and then brought to Cyprus where I live. I used Siri to call my husband 2 days ago without problem but now when I try to use Siri it won't call any local Cypriot number but will call my Uk contacts. I can call the same numbers manually so it's not my network. Any help would be appreciated.

This sounds like an international issue? Although I can not see why? I brought my phone in Australia and operating it in Indonesia, I have the same issues.... Otherwise Siri works fine, even texting (SMS) to local numbers siri works well, but dialing local number it just wont work...! I will try using my Australian SIM card and see if that is the reason.. I tried changing the number in the contacts and took out the international prefix, I turned the international assist on and off still nothing.. How frustrating. I called apple, the technican had know idea and we to his supervisor, had to wait fro 40 miuntes and then I hung up..
    PLEASE HELP..!

The two things to try first are renewing your network lease, forgetting the network and if that doesn't work to reset all networks. You might have tried one of these but I'll repeat the steps just to make sure.
Settings > Wi-Fi > tap the blue arrow to the right of your network name > Renew Lease
    If that doesn't work then
Settings > Wi-Fi > tap the blue arrow to the right of your network name > Forget this Network
    If that doesn't work
Settings > General > Networks > Reset All Networks > then reset your iPhone by
Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
I hope one of these will help.

my ipad 2 and iphone 4S won't connect to app store via wifi but will connect via 3g - both are running 6.0.1 - I have tired several wifi networks but same result.

    Hi LandJ1980,
I would recommend first trying these steps:

If that does not work, this article has some additional ideas to try, even though you are only seeing this with the App Store:

  • When i send a imessage the reciever see's it as sent from my email adress why and how do i change

when i send a imessage the reciever see's it as it was sent from my email adress rather than my phone number, why, and how do i stop this?

settings -> messages-> receive at-> caller ID ->  [choose your phone number]
The advantage of using your email address is so that imessages sync across your icloud devices.  But if the only apple device you have is an iphone, then your phone number would be the obvious choice to pick here.
Once ios6 comes out, this situation won't matter (they're fixing the sync of imessages across devices)

  • Iphone won't send or reply to emails

iphone (iOS 7.0.4) can receive, but can't send email (either new or a reply)
Message: "Unable to send ... Copy placed in outbox ... sender address .... rejected by server".
No problem on iPad (iOS 7.0.4).
Have tried switching off iPhone, deleted email accounts, reinstalled etc.
    Anyone else had this?
[This corrects my first ever post (whcih had a mistake in) earlier]

Double-check your outgoing server settings. Find out from your email provider what might be causing that error.

  • When sending iMessages in iOS 6 the message sends as both an iMessage from my apple I.D. and as a text as well

    Hi there,
So I recently upgraded to iOS 6 on my old iPhone 4 and had it also come preinstalled with my new iPhone 5. I also have an iPad (3rd gen) and iPod touch running iOS 5. Whenever I send iMessages off my iPhone 5 with other iPhone owners the message sends as both a text and iMessage from my apple I.D. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it all connected to with my other iOS devices? I'll also add that my old iPhone 4 no longer has a sim in it.
Do I need to upgrade all my devices to iOS 6?
    All help is much appreciated!!

Settings > Messages > Send and Received > Uncheck any number/email that does not belong to the device
Note: The little blue (>) will give you an option to remove the number/email from the device
Note: Check this setting on any device(s) using the same Apple ID

  • TS2755 Since updating my iPhone 5 to ios7 my phone has trouble sending iMessages. Sometimes it won't send the message and will not automatically send it as an SMS despite this option being selected in settings. It's happening with 3 other people I know to

Since updating my iPhone 5 to ios7 my phone often fails to send iMessages. It won't automatically send as an SMS despite this being switched on in the settings section.  This is also happening wig my partners phone and my mothers phone.  I want to report it to Apple but I don't know how.
Firstly, is there a way this can be reported to Apple so they can fix the bug? And secondly, does anyone have any suggestions in relation to fixing this problem?
I usually love my phone but I am finding it unreliable at the moment and am wishing I didn't update it.

    Restart your phone.
    Apple Feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Send a bug report  via its Bug Reporter system.
To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that.
Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report. You get a response and a follow-up number thus starting a dialog with engineering.

  • Can't create eprint service account, says already exists, won't send password to my email ????

When I try to create an ePrint service account it tells me there is already an account with my email address. I do have an account on the hp website but it does not accept that password. When I request that is send the password it asks for my email and when I type it in and submit it comes back with the error message to give the email address associated with the account.
This is crazy and frustrating. If the email address has an account associated with it then why won't it send password info to that email address.
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Hi,
More likely your ePC account was assigned to the SnapFish service during its first registration and therefore the described behavior appears.
Please try the following steps and check if that may help:
    1. Go to http://www.snapfish.com and click the Log In option at the top.
    2. Click 'Forgot your password?' and follow the directions.
    3. Make sure to log in to Snapfish using the temporary password and complete the proccess to select a new password.
    4. Go to http://www.eprint.com and login using the modified account details
