IMessage in UAE, problem since late Mar '15

Hi
I'm using an iPhone in UAE since some years. I've always used iMessage and i've always used the phone + iMessage on the same carrier, i.e. Etisalat. I'm continuing with the same phone (equipment) and same carrier (Etisalat) and same phone # (GSM # even). So pretty much no change
I use the official & latest version of OS IoS 8.2. NO Jail break or anything.
All along I had connected my phone and one e mail id to iMessage. But all conversations were started using the phone # (choice / setting on iPhone -Settings - General - messages etc etc). My friends could locate (in iMessage) me using my GSM phone #. This was till approx 10 days ago..
However, say since late Mar '15, I'm unable to send iMessages using just my phone # . I'm forced to use (set up) an e mail as my address to send / receive iMessages (add e mail option in message settings). If I remove all e mail, then when sending, iMessages fail !! Also when I add an e mail along with my phone, the conversations start with my email !! Friends see my message as from an e mail
Is this Etisalat banning / blocking iMessages ? or what ?
Does some other setting mess with iMessage ?

Howdy Subu,
Just as an initial troubleshooting step for this issue where your phone number is not an option in iMessage, I'd like you to please sign out of iMessage and then sign back in.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
On your iPhone first, sign back in to iMessage.
If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

    Back up all data.
    Quit Messages if it’s running. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it and test after each of the following steps. If the problem isn't resolved, quit again and go on to the next step.
    Step 1
    Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
    If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
    Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
              Change Settings for Keychain "login"
    In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
              Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
    If the box marked
              Keep login keychain unlocked
    is not checked, check it.
    Select
              Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
    from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
    From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select My Certificates. Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them is marked with a red "X" as expired or invalid, delete it. Also delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name, whether valid or not.
    From the menu bar, select
              Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ Certificates
    There are three menus in the window. Change the selection in the top two to Best attempt, and in the bottom one to  CRL.
    Log out and log back in.
    Step 2
    Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
    from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (some may not exist):
              Containers/com.apple.corerecents.recentsd
              Caches/com.apple.Messages
              Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
              Containers/com.apple.iChat
              Containers/com.apple.soagent
              IdentityServices
    Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in.
    Step 3
    Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
              Messages
    Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
    If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place.
    Step 4
    In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
              com.apple.iChat
              com.apple.ids
              com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
              com.apple.imessage
              com.apple.imservice
    Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
    Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
    Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
    If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post your results.
    If you later decide that you don’t like the results of Steps 3 and 4, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

    (A) Reset iPad
    Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
    Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

  • Imessages won't send since updating to iOS 6.

    The problem started out quite sporadically and now it is completely unable to send messages.  Yesterday, 9/26 imessages started out fine then later in the afternoon I started getting not delivered messages on my Ipad.  Imessages on my Iphone 4S works fine so far.  Both devices were updated to the iOS6.0 system.  Has anyone else experienced this bug and is there a fix out there anywhere?

    I have an iPhone4 and upgraded to iOS 7.1. 
    Since then imessage does not work properly on the iPhone4. 
    iMessage is working on my iPad normally.
    I have reset network settings after turning iMessage off.
    Turned iMessage back on.
    iMessage is activiating and after doing the above.
    I have also turned the phone off (Held home and power buttons for 10 seconds etc)
    Other devices cannot reach the phone using iMessage.
    My local Brisbane Apple store said last Friday evening it was most likely not the device and there was a problem in the 'cloud' side of iMessage out of my control.
    This does not seem to be the case as I search for the thousands of people this would most likely affect.
    I had a brief period where it appeared to work normally a few days ago.
    Inerestingly when addressing a message in the 'To:' screen iMessage capable names come up blue as if they are about to be addressed and sent as an imessage.  Once selecting the name however it turns green as if to say this will be sent as a text.
    I am at a loss at what to do.  The phone was working perfectly well under iOS6x

  • Many problems since the update - help?

    Hi all,
    Let me start by saying that I am, for all intents and purposes, a huge Apple booster. I have a new 24" iMac. I have an Airport Extreme. I have an iBook G3 I use for travel (I'm a journalist) and recently handed down my old G3 iMac to my son after loading it up with RAM. I extoll Apple products because they are elegant and simple, and a pure pleasure to use.
    Unfortunately, this hasn't been my experience with Apple TV since the 2.0 update.
    My problems since the update include:
    1) My Apple TV regularly "hangs" when trying to connect to ATV content. About 50% of the time when I try to play a song or podcast or movie preview -- whatever -- instead of connecting to it, I'll get an "Accessing iTunes Store" message which, after about 30 seconds of the little spinning icon, will inevitably revert to "The iTunes Store is currently unavailable. Try again later." I have to "back out" of the submenu (e.g., "Movies" or "Podcasts" or "TV Shows"), and enter another, different submenu before it will connect. I've tried all combinations of Airport settings ( both 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz N, mixed b/g/n), and many different channels, but this keeps on happening. I have troubleshot my network connection with my ISP, and have tested the integrity of the line at DSL Reports. The connection and line quality is fine. Connection strength: signal = 54; noise = 92. In other words, decent.
    2) When attempting to play HD Trailers, it is now hit and miss whether or not they will load. Instead of a blue progress bar, my screen goes black for about 15-20 seconds. (During this time, I cannot exit out of the action by pressing 'menu' on my Apple remote; it is effectively unresponsive.) After the 15 seconds or so are up, I get the following message: "Selected content is not available. Format is not recognized" -- or something close to this. After I exit, play an SD trailer, and then hit into the same trailer again, it will often (but not always) work.
    3) Album cover art flips often "stick" when turning, especially when playing songs with long, scrolling titles. (I spent a lot of time on the phone with an Apple TV Product Specialist and, after he replicated the issue, he passed on his findings to the Apple Engineering. It is, I was informed, not high on their list of priorities
    4) Unplugging and then replugging the ATV to reboot causes a small electrical spark. Needless to say, I don't tempt fate by doing this any more, and instead use the "-" and "menu" restart method.
    All in all, a very disappointing experience of late. Very un-Apple.
    By the way, connecting to YouTube videos and Flickr contacts ALWAYS works. No problems at all with any non-Apple site accessed through the ATV. So the problem lies with Apple.
    Is anyone else experiencing similar difficulties? I'm at my wit's end with this thing. Never thought I'd be saying that about an Apple product. But I want to try and solve it, so I'm asking for help. If nothing can be done, I'm going to ask Apple to replace it, or return it.

  • Sniffer Result Code: 3 / CUDA-Problems since Mavericks update

    Hey Guys, first, thanks a lot for helping / or checking this out.
    I have this problem since upgrading to Mavericks from Mountain Lion.
    After upgrading I noticed there is a CUDA-Panel in my System prefs - which was new to me, having the classic onboard ATI Radeon of my MacPro.
    Starting After Effects since then results in:
    Last log message was: <140735271506704> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 3
    Generating crash log, which may take a few minutes.
    then OSX tells me AE has stopped working.
    System Specs:
    MacBook Pro
    15 Inch,
    Late 2011,
    AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512MB,
    OSX 10.9.2 (13C64)
    So it's the classic on Board graphics card and nothing NVIDIA/PC-fancy.
    What I've done so far:
    Installed newest CUDA-Version (even though, the system prefs plane tells me it needs an update, even when downloading the newest from NVIDIA)
    Deinstalled and installed the whole CC-Suite, cleaned it, made a new admin-user, deinstalled again, installed on the news user (same problem), installed on the old one.
    CUDA-drivers deinstalled from within the terminal (killing all relevant NVIDIA.kext and GeForce.bundle files), rebuild the extensions files with kext-utility.
    Used disk-utility in the system and by rebooting with COMMAND+R, checked the volumen and the permissions, nothing Adobe relevant came back.
    I'm kinda very stuck here...
    Any help would be very welcome.

    The problem is that you installed CUDA software on a computer that has no CUDA-capable hardware. Don't do that.
    You must remove the CUDA framework from your computer. See the last part of this article:

    But i had already authorized it and even signed my apple id.
    Moreover, i have only authorized 1 out of my 5 computers.

  • 2 problems since upgrading my operating system on my iPad2 wifi

    I have an ipad2 - wifi 32gb Model
    Since my update to ios5, I have encountered two problems which I can't see. To figure out. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Someone did the update for me on my iMac well
    The first problem is after the update several hours later I turned on my iPad only to be shocked that I no longer had any of my important bookmarks.
    Also I do not have the same bookmarks on my desktop and iPad (eventually I was planning to do that) and I heard about the iCloud which is great and I know it can do photos, music, apps but I don't know if bookmarks apply to that.
    IS there anyway I can get these bookmarks back ?  
    My other problem is later once I go to use my iPAd I end up with a black screen and the white spinning circle probably 2/3rds of the time. So far I just end up doing a hard reset?? I am not sure if I am using the right name, but I hold down the home button and power button at the same time and that does the trick. I have tried plugging in the iPAd to the charger but that had no effect. IS there something I can do to prevent this from happening so frequently?

    iCloud never stored music. That is what the iTunes Match service is for.
    The only way to get back non-iTunes-purchased music is to import them to your new iTunes library however you did it on your old computer.

  • Problem since updating to 9.3 on W7 64bt

    I accepted the auto update for Acrobat Pro 9.3. No apparent problems with installation and when first used to view some PDFs I had no problems. Later in the session when I reopened the program it tries to reload all the previously viewed PDF, then Windows detects a fault and closes the program down with message “Adobe Acrobat 9.3 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available”.
    I’ve tried reapplying the update and rebooted the system a couple of times, but the problem persists.
    Anyone else seeing this ?
    Is there a way of starting Acrobat and deleting it’s preferences ?

    Following up to this;
    I seem to have fixed the problem, through some guess work and experimentation.
    I tried holding down the shift key when launching Acrobat Pro, hoping like some other Adobe programs it would launch without using it's standard preferences. That seemed to work and not every previous PDF loaded and eventually it stopped loading older PDFs and allowed me to access it's menus. I reset various options in preferences to their defaults and cleared the document history and have had no problems since then.
    Hopefully this might help anyone else with similar problems.

  • Problem: Fitting Lev-Mar with Error Function

    Hi everyone,
    I have very little experience with LabVIEW and I'm trying for the first time to do some NonLinear Curve fit for some data I have.
    I've searched in forums for almost a day and couldn't find what I need. The problems are:
    1) I need to fit a function of the following type: P = Po/2 - Po/2*erf(sqrt(2)*(x-xo)/w) , where Po, xo and w are my parameters.
    But in my error2.vi I cannot link my y=sqrt(2)*(x-xo)/w  variable of the erf function to the input, because the erf.vi does not accept 1D array as input and doesn't give that as output as well. The output thing is another problem, since the input of F(x,a) needs to be a 1D array.
    2) I read about the Lev-Mar NonLinear CurveFit VI and I think I got what needs to be done. However, a I was having problems in wiring my Static VI Reference to the F(x,a) input in the Lev-Mar VI and it didn't give me a broken wire only when I made de Reference a "Strictly Typed VI Reference". What does that mean? Why did it only work with that?
    I know these are some pretty basic doubts, but I've been trying to understand it for quite some time and couldn't get this done.

    (don't try to graph the best parameters, graph the best fit output!)

    Are you trying to use the phone in Bahrain with a supported carrier there? I suspect not. If you try to use this phone outside of Bahrain, you won't have FaceTime. This is done to prevent folks from simply crossing the border to purchase iPhones in Bahrain...FaceTime is banned in Saudi Arabia & the UAE. Sorry, but you'll only have FaceTime on that phone while using it in Bahrain on a supported carrier's network there.

  • USB problems since EFI firmware update 2.6

    My MBA has been suffering USB problems since this update.
    I have an IOGear USB 3 GUH374 hub.  I connect my iPad mini and USB 3 disk to it.
    Since the update, the iPad has stopped charging through the hub.  Now, I can't find the power specs of the hub, so I don't know that it should work, but it was working fine.  Now, the iPad says "not charging".
    The USB disk has spontaneously disconnected a few times, with the system reporting that it was improperly disconnected.  One time, the disk was corrupted.
    This could be a coincidence, so I've contacted IOGear.  But, I'm also having new, different, sleep problems with the MBA and Mountain Lion.
