Imessage is not activating on my number

imessage will not activate on my phone number, it only activates on my email. It does not even show my number part of the imessage options!

IMessage does not show my phone number on iMac.

iMessage does not show my phone number on iMac. My family has 3 iPhones we sync to this computer and only the other two are available to checkmark in preferences on the iMac. I tried updating my profile online, but only my number is listed on my account. iMessages works fine on my phone. I've tried signing out and back in and rebooting.

My Apple ID profile does not contain my mobile (well either of them actually) number it make no difference to iMessages.
To get an iPhone Number on the Mac the Apple ID must be added to an iPhone AND when you get the Pop ups on the Mac they should be accepted.
If the the Apple ID is on the iPhone check it is set for Messages and not just iCloud.
Check it is also set as a Send and Receive item And that the iPhone Number is itself (this should be greyed out so you can't turn it Off).
If the apple ID is missing then add it.
If the iPhone Number seems to be turned Off then Remove the Apple ID
Set the iPhone to Airplane Mode.
On taking it out of Airplane Mode check the iPhone Number is active for iMessages and Verifies and logs in.
Check by sending a Message to the Apple ID so the Mac sees it.
Now add back the Apple ID and make sure that verifies.
Now restart the app on the Mac.
this should prompt the Pop ups.
Accept these to add the iPhone number to the Receive At list (It will also be added to the Send From drop down list)

i have tried signing out of imessage and signing back in. (when i do that and am asked to select my email adress, i see my new number but it is greyed out and i cant select it)

But under send and receive, my old number is still displayed while my new number isn't.

I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing, and/or what you are seeing when you try to login on your new iPhone 5s. Usually, when FaceTime/iMessage is used with a phone number, that phone number and the Apple ID are linked, as outlined in the following article:

IOS 6 - iMessage does not verify my phone number

Hello.
After updating to iOS 6, my phone can't verify a phone number for using iMessage.

Has the number been added to your AppleID?
And just to be clear, adding this as an address to Messages on the iPad will NOT allow you to receive SMS messages, just iMessages.

Imessage does not combine the telephone number to one username in address book

Hi guys,
last week I received an Imessage from a unknown number, I replied "who are you?" and he replied "it's me.. name and surname". I have this person in my address book but I continue to receive imessages (with the tel number) and imessages cannot combine his tel number to his name, if we imessage using email address than I can see his name and surname.
If I send a message to him with this procedure: address book, open his contact, press the button send message, choose the tel number, press send, then I see in imessage message list that I have sent a message to his number, not to his name and surname.
I do not use the Apple Address Book but the google address book. Every other user is working fine. From Viber and whatsapp i can send messages to the same user without this problem.
I have also tried to delete and recreate his contact many times, both from gmal web page and from the Iphone itself but then Imessage is not able to "link" his tel number to his name and surname.
Imessage recognize his number as Imessage user so it send imessages and not sms, but in the imessage messages list I can only see his telephone number and not his name and surname.
I cannot find a solution, attached a picture taken from my phone, I choose "andrea ...surname" from the address book, sent the imessage, immediately IOS changed "andrea ..surname" to +393402433...

IMessage waiting for activation. Phone number not listed in Send and Receive at?

I'm going to try to be as descriptive as possible, as I'm not too sure what else I can possibly do to resolve this issue.
3 or 4 days ago I requested a number change through my provider. Not knowing that I had to turn off iMessage whilst waiting for the change to occur, I left it on.
Later that day my friends were complaining that I was sending them texts from two different numbers, one being my new number, one being my old number. The thing is, I'm using the exact same SIM card and it's a little unusual to have two numbers for one SIM. I then realised that iMessage is ONLY registering my iTunes e-mail address and OLD phone number as an option to 'Send and Receive at'. I have spoken to Optus (my provider in Aust.) and Apple, I have gone into an Apple store, had the phone replaced, restored newtwork settings, restored phone altogether, turned on/off iMessage and Facetime, checked date and time, made sure my correct number is listed in Settings > Phone, etc etc etc I've done EVERYTHING listed in all forums that I've read from people experiencing this same issue.
I can choose to select my old phone number in iMessage, and can then send messages to others using iMessage from the old number, and if I switch it off, I'm then using SMS to send messages, and it's from my new number again! It's very frustrating not having all features on my phone working correctly.
If I switch iMessages and Facetime on, not using my Apple ID to sign in, it simply says 'waiting for activation' and after a few hours, tells me it was unsucessful and to try again. I'm all out of options now, Optus don't know what to do, Apple don't know what to do and I don't know what else to do! It's been 4 days! Someone please help!?

Just thought I'd let everybody know how it finally got resolved 1 week later!
After trying absolutely everything, and I mean EVERYTHING that Apple support, apple forums etc told me to do, the only thing that worked was turning iMessage off, waiting for at least 24 hours at then turning iMessage back on.
It activated itself within a few minutes, no dramas at all!

I have seen other answers like putting it off and on. Toggling the imessage and FT buttons on and off. Have reset it. Tried all sorts and not happening. It disappeared when i changed the password of my Apple id.

My iMessage does not recognize my phone number under "send and receive"

I had to restore my iphone and now it is unable to connect to iMessage. It says "waiting for activation" and then it will fail. Under send and receive, my phone number appears to be clicked on, but does not have the check mark next to it.

I did the new update OS7 for my iphone 5. When I turn on imessage it makes a werid number which is not my phone number. I have called apple support and no one has been able to help. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue. It also does this to facetime. I have checked and made sure my account setting has my number which it does. I wanted to make sure before I do a full wipe. I believe it happens when it goes to activate though imessage.

It may be that you have more than one outgoing mail account, and you're sending from the wrong one. From the Mail menu bar, select
          Mail ▹ Preferences...
The Mail preference dialog opens. Select the Composing tab from the row of icons at the top. From the menu labeled
          Send new messages from:
choose
          Account of selected mailbox
Note that this setting may have no effect if you start a new message while a VIP or smart mailbox is selected in the mailbox list. Those are saved searches, not actual mailboxes.
If the problem remains, select the Accounts tab in the preference dialog, then select the affected account in the list on the left.
In the Account Information pane, select the correct server in the menu labeled
          Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
If there's only one server in the menu, select
          Edit SMTP Server List...
and add a new server with the correct settings. If you're not sure how to do that, try the Mail Settings Lookup.
Another possibility is that the wrong card in your address book is selected as yours. Select your card in the Contacts application. Then select
          Card ▹ Make This My Card
from the menu bar.

Imessage is not connected to my number?

On my send and recieve on imessage my phone number is not connected... All I can connect are emails but I want people to recieve my number on imessage not my email. Called my service provider and Apple but neither could help? Please help! I have an Iphone 5.

I have this issue too. To elaborate when I go in to facetime/imessage settings and go to the section "YOU CAN BE REACHED BY FACETIME AT" it only provides email addresses. My mobile number is there but its grayed out and cant be selected. People have told me when they try to facetime me now they get a message saying I'm unavailable for facetime. I'm assuming these are people still on ios 6 that are still able to call my number which evidently doesnt work anymore??
Same applies to imessage. Texts are sent from my email address now. I dont want this! I might want to text someone and not have them know my email address. I hope this is a bug or something. Anyone know?
