IMessage isnt picking up camera

All of the sudden, my iMessage isnt picking up my camera on my mac. When I go to the facetime app it picks up the camera but not on iMessage. Can anyone help?

Removing Messages' preference file might help.  It's good that you tried the new account before doing this.
Here's how to remove the preference file:
In Finder, hold the option key while clicking "Go" in the menu.  Then go to Library (which only appears when the option key is depressed).
Select the Preferences folder, then find the file called com.Apple.imessage.bag.plist
Drag this file to the trash.
Open the Message app and try again.  if it works, empty the trash and your problem is solved.

My imessage isnt working. Why is that?

There has been an outage for both iMessage and FaceTime today.  Started at around Noon time, PDT.
There is nothing you can do from your end, this problem is on Apple's servers.

  • My 7d video picks up camera hum. What accessories do I need to shoot music videos for youTube?

HI, could you specify more clearly what kind of sound does it pick up?
Any AF noise will likely be picked up by the mic/audio recorder. Disable AF for serious video shooting if you can't place the mic far from the camera.
TIPS FOR AUDIO RECORDING WITH EXTERNAL DEVICE connected to the camera:
This is possible thanks to the latest firmware 2.x for the 7D that allows to select Manual Audio Gain control. It's also possible in every other camera with Manual Audio Gain like 5D2, 5D3, 60D, T3i, etc.
    - Disable Auto Gain Control. Select Manual Audio gain instead.
    - Move the gain slider all way to the left (to zero) and then move it only one click to the right (this will enable audio gain, but to its minimum)
    - Connect the mic/recording device to the camera via male to male stereo cable (usually shipped with the audio recorder) this way:  "Line Out/Headphones" (in the audio recorder) to the "Mic input" (in the camera).
    - Set the Audio Gain / Headphones Volume in the recorder (checking the audio levels on the LCD of your camera) to reach about -12db as average (with the sound source you will record). Avoid clipping audio, and setting it too low.
    - Using this method you will get audio on your footage with LOT better quality than using the buil-in mic of the camera and the audio will be already synchronized with the video.
    - If you want to record audio with the audio recorder, you can, so you will have a second audio file (called "double audio recording") of even much higher quality (if you set the recorder accordingly) that you can easily sync in post to replace the audio track recorded by the camera.
    NOTES & SUGGESTIONS:
    - If you use a mono Mic/Audio recorder, you will get mono audio in your footage (obviously)
    - Place  the external Mic/Audio recorder as near as possible to the sound source, and as far as possible from the camera. If you can't put the mic/audio recorder out of your rig, then put it as far as possible from the camera and lens (and not behind it). In this case the best position is in front but at a side.
    - Good Audio recorders that have extremely versatile features are Zoom H2n and Zoom H4n. You can record audio as mentioned above with both of them using just the buil-in mics of these recorders. Just be sure to adjust them right.
    - Always do some tests before shooting. Fixing bad audio is very difficult, sometimes more difficult than fixing video.
    - Always use some kind of wind screen over the mic/audio recorder, otherwise you'll get noise even from a slight breeze or when moving your camera setup.
    Hope this helps!

  • Siri has stopped reading new iMessages when iOS 8 came out.  I have not updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.  Any ideas?

I use Siri all the time.  I have found it very helpful.  When the new iOS 8 came out, Siri stopped reading new iMessages.  I have done all of the usual reboots, etc without any luck.  Since it happened the same time as the new iOS 8 ( even tho I did not update ) I wonder if there is some other issue.  Have you heard of this issue and do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks

SSiri has also stopped reading my new text messages. She just says "you have no new messages." This also occurred at the same exact time I upgeaded to iOS 8. I have a 5s

  • Stand alone Isight mic isnt picking up sound.

I recently was given an isight cam to use with my mini and I get video transmission but i dont get sound. I put my system sound setting preference to use the isight mic for sound input and also did the same with the ichat preferences and it doesnt seem to be working. Any thoughts on what it can be?

I had the microphone option checked in ichat and in system preferences i did raise the volume of the input. It is still unresponsive. I found an old webcam i had laying around it doesnt transmit video since i believe i need a driver for it but it does work as a mic. So I have to use 2 webcams at the moment, my isight to send video and an old usb webcam to send sound. I also grabbed an old desktop microphone and plugged it into the back of the mini thinking I could use that instead of the webcam and it doesnt seem to pick up sound either. I tested the mic on a pc and it worked and yes I did make sure to change the input source to line in on both ichat preferences and system preferences. Any suggestions?

  • Photo from iMessage saved to my camera role, how come the saved photo is not available to edit with iPhoto on my iPhone?

When I save a photo from iMessage to my camera role, how come the saved photo is not available to edit with iPhoto on my iPhone?

I tapped a photo in Messages to vie it full screen.
Tapped the Share icon and saved it to my camera roll.
Opened iPhoto for iOS and my image library updated. After the update I could see the image in my camera roll. I selected the amera roll, then tapped the image I had copied from Messages. I was able to edit the photo with no problem.
Did you follow this same procedure or ry to copy the little thumbnail photo from Messages?

  • IMovie not picking up camera

Hello everyone. I have seen a couple people with a similar issue to mine, but no solutions yet, so I will try to provide a little more info. I am using a MacBook Pro, and am trying to import video into iMovie from my Canon ZR80 via Firewire. Plug into the camera and Mac. Camera says "DV IN", Mac does nothing. I have tried any and all fixes mentioned here in the past few days. I went into Console and in the logs there is this message repeating over and over while the camera is plugged in.
"Mar 31 23:23:53 justin-unsers-computer kernel[0]: FireWire (OHCI) Lucent ID 5811 PCI: Bad selfIDs, issuing bus reset (retry 2)
Mar 31 23:23:53 justin-unsers-computer kernel[0]: FireWire (OHCI) Lucent ID 5811 PCI: Bad selfIDs, issuing bus reset (retry 3)"
Of course it will go to retry 4 and so on up to 14 before starting over on 2 again. I have another MBP, and have the same exact results. One MBP is a 1.8, the other a 2.0.
I know the camera is compatible, and the wire is good because when I plug everything in the camera reads "DV IN".
The other MBP does not have this error message, but also will not work with the camera. Any thoughts before I go to the Genius Bar?

Try changing the settings to 44100Hz (CD Quality) or to 48000Hz (typical of the iMovie formats).
Others call this the GarageBand fix. Opening GB also resets the Audio MIDI Setup.”

  • My imessage isnt working please help asap!

i have an iphone 4 running off straight talk, the phone has worked without any problems until a day and a half ago, i even called apple care with this problem. whenever i go to send an imessage the message sends but doesnt deliver idk if its my phone or theres but the bar will go all the way but not always send my phone has full service and full wifi so i dont understand o.o. I've tried hard reset, network reset and even a restore and it seems like it doesnt want to send my messages so please someone help me :/ been kinda bummed and worried about this. thanks!

There's probably not much to be done now.
Generally, the damage isn't caused by the water as much as the short circuits the water creates when the device is used and charged. Since you've already used it the damage may already be done.
The recommendation when a device gets wet is to leave it in dry rice for a period of time (days to weeks depending on how wet it was). The rice will wick out the moisture.
When you think it's dry you can then charge your device and see if it comes back or if it's dead.
Since you've already used it, I'd just leave it sit for a day or two. Let the rest of the moisture evaporate, then see if it works or if the damage is permanent.

  • The screen saver keeps shifting back to generic picks that came from iMac

I have a set of pics that I use as screen saver. But every once in a while it changes the screen saver pics to the National Geographic pics that came with the iMac. Why is that happening and should I be concerned.? I switch it back, and afyter a while, it goes back.

Back up all data. Quit System Preferences if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return. A folder should open. If it does, look for a file with a long name that begins "com.apple.screensaver". There may be several such files. Move them all to the Trash.
Log out or restart the computer. Test. If the problem is resolved, empty the Trash and recreate your settings in the Screen Saver tab.

Turn iMessage off in Settings->Messages->Off. Leave it for a minute and then turn it back on. This will re-activate it and it will be working again :-)
