IMessage messages all arrive at once

Hi,
I am having some difficulties with iMessage.
Once enabled I am able to send messages on my iPhone 4 to my girlfriends iPhone 4, however after maybe 10 messages I notice there's always a long delay in receiving one back. Once I send another message with even something like "Hello?" I suddenly get flooded with the 2 or 3 that she's maybe sent in the mean time! She's the only contact I have that has iMessage and so we are currently moving back to simple SMS.
This issue occurs on both 3G and WiFi, but can't figure out if it would be an iPhone issue or a provider one. (O2, UK).
It's the most frustrating thing ever, and renders the function useless as it's completely unreliable.
Thanks for your help
Mark

Hi there!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your wireless service provider for formal support.
Good luck!

i have an ipod, ipad, and iphone. ilike to use imessage on all of them but i dont want messages to appear on the devices i am not currently using. nor do i want to have to keep a saparate account / id for each device  how do i fix the settings on each so that with the same ID / login I can chech me emails, share contacts etc, be able to use i messenger on each without the whole conversation automatically beiing picked up by my other devices? some conversations just arent intended to be shared!

Turn it into the local police department with an explanation as to who you tried to contact and what they told you. That's the only safe procedure, as otherwise the owner could report the iPod as stolen, even though you tried to return it, and get you into trouble.
    Regards.

  • Why do i keep getting "Message Send Failure" every time I send pictures on iMessage? All are sent to other iPhone/iPad users.

For a few months now, I've been getting "Message Send Failure" every time I send pictures to other Apple devices (iPhones, iPads, Macs), despite the recipient receiving them. So, even though the pictures are going through, the "Message Send Failure" notice keeps showing up. I checked with other people who have Apple devices and they also encountered the same issue whenever they send pictures (usually send an email to make sure it was received).  I thought when iOS 7.1.1 came out that it would fix this issue. Has anyone else encountered the same issue? Thanks!

I started getting the error on my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.1.x) several weeks ago - if not a month ago. Today I finally decided to run through a wholesale sign-out/sign-in process on all my devices (iMac, MacBook, iPad 1, iPad 3 and iPhone5) and it worked!
I signed out of iMessage/Messages on all devices. I also deleted my iCloud accounts on all my devices (make sure you tell the software to keep local copies when you are prompted - relax, it all stays in the cloud, too) Then I signed back in to iMessage/Messages and then re-added iCloud accounts all around. I just sent a message with a photo attachment and did not get the "Not Delivered" message - yay!
(FYI - even though I received the error every time I sent a message with an image attachment, the message still went through - very, very happy, though to finally get rid of the message...)

  • HT1688 why are my imessages now turning into text messages all the time?

Why are my iMessages now turning into text messages all the time?

There are a number of reasons why they may be sent as regular sms and not iMessages. If either party is in an area with poor reception and the the data network is struggling, the regular sms messages will be sent to the recipient. iMessage can be switched off at a users convienince, your recipients may have iMessage turned off when you've sent those messages.
There are instances where the iMessage server is not responding due to techinical issues (although, few and far between)

  • Best way to view iPhone sms and imessage messages from backup

Hello I have sms and imessage messages that I would like to export from my phone or computer to be viewed on another device.  I know there is a way to view texts through third party software and I was wondering if there is one that is  particularly good at it or if there was a native way to do it?  Any help would be much appreciated as these texts will be used as evidence in a court case so some kind a log format with timestamps would be ideal.

I actually purchased GoodReader because it is easy to transfer files without iTunes.  I dislike the file sharing through iTunes.   You can use a Mac or PC.  Once I was in the app I clicked the "Wi-Fi" symbol which brings me to "WiFi-transfer."  It will show this --
    "WiFi status: ON
Use one of the following addresses exactly as you see them
    1. IP-address: http://192.168.0.98:8080 <-- Local LAN address the iPhone is broadcasting on.
    2. Bonjour-address http://Myname-iPhone.local:8080"
All you have to do is type one of those addresses into your browser. (Safari, etc.)
It will take you to a page that has iPhone Connection and a list of options.  You can either create a new directory within the application or use an existing one to upload a text file.  It's rather simple, you just select "Choose a file to upload" > Select your file > Press upload > Start the app and see your text/pdf/whatever file.
You can also connect to a server to download a text file, browse the web, or enter a url.  I see it also has an ICloud folder which I'm not sure if it integrates with Apple's iCloud or not, I think it does.  I'm not affliated with the app and I'm not saying you have to buy it, I'm just a happy user.
If you don't want to buy this app let me know I'll keep looking for a free or cheaper one for you if you want.

  • IMessages messages disappearing on Mac after 10.6.3 update

After the 10.6.3 update, my iMessage messages on my Mac disappear right after I send them even though they're being sent properly and I can read them on my iPhone.
I can still see the incoming messages but once I restart/close iMessage they're all gone.
    I've tried the following:
Changed Start new conversations from my Apple ID on iOS/Mac
Mobile number and Apple ID are set to receive messages on iOS/Mac
Signed out from Mac, restarted, signed back in.
    Nothing seems to fix it.

  • IMessage/Messages & Ichat

My friend has imessage/messages and i have ichat, how can we video chat?

    Hi,
You friend needs Messages with an AIM (or AIM Valid) Screen Name set up or alternatively a Jabber Account  (Jabber includes Google talk and Facebook who both run Jabber servers) set up.
Video chat is AIM to AIM or Jabber to Jabber.
The iMessages account does not do Video (It invokes the FaceTime App)
The Yahoo Option does not do Video either.
Once they have set up an account, preferably on the same service you are using, then once it is logged in the Window Menu shows "Buddies" and the CMD + 1 keystrokes
This shows a Combined Buddy list (AIM, Jabber, Bonjour, Yahoo if you have them all and Enabled/logged in)
They can be split via the General Section of the Preferences at the line about "gathering All Accounts  into one List" (untick the line).
This will then show the Buddy list in the more familiar iChat way.
The Buddy list then needs the Buddy (you) added and it will show the green Video icon (or Audio Only icon if your camera is Off)

  • HT1689 can i use imessage if all 4 iphones on my itunes account all use the same email address

can i use imessage if all 4 of my family's iphones use the same i tunes account?

    Hello, gio4360.
Thank you for the question.  It is common for people share an Apple ID for the iTunes and App Store.  However, it is recommended that you use a separate Apple ID specifically for iMessage, Facetime and iCloud.  The reason for this is because anyone that shares the same Apple ID for iMessage will receive all iMessages.

  • Is there a way to remove all email at once on iPad first generation?

Is there a way to remove all email at once on iPad first generation?

Issue does not apply to just first gen iPads, but all iOS devices. The only place in the native mail app that permits deleting en mass is the trash folder. In all other folders you must tap each message to select it before deleting. There may be alternate mail apps that include this function in the app store, but I have yet to find one.

  • HT201252 How do I recover old imessage messages that have not been deleted?

I have not deleted any messages, but older ones are not showing up. Is there a way to get these back? Working on a Macbook Pro

You can only restore the whole message database, not individual messages or conversations. This procedure will replace the database with an earlier version, so you'll lose all later changes.
Sign out of iMessage and all other IM accounts, if any. Quit Messages. Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. A folder window will open.
Restore the subfolder named "Messages" from a backup that predates the unwanted changes, then log out and log back in.
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, also restore the subfolder Containers/com.apple.iChat.
If you don't have a backup, the archive can't be restored.

  • I can use iMessage with all iPhone uses except for ONE person.  That person can use iMessage with all other users, but not with ME.  What's the problem???

I can use iMessage with all other iPhone users that I communicate with, except for ONE person.  When I send to that person, it always goes through as a text message.  This person can use iMessage with pther people, but when they send me a message, it always goes as a text.  Why can we both communicate with other people using iMessage, but not with one another?

    Hi Russell,
    1) If you have OD set up and "editor" has UID 1111, then when they log in to any machine that's bound to OD as editor, they will get UID 1111. Therefore, there won't be any of these permission errors. This is typically the recommended approach.
    2) I assume you mean "You'd prefer to not using open directory?" Whatever the case, OD isn't mandatory with Xsan -- it's just that with multiple user accounts, managing them centrally tends to be easier. For 3 or 4 accounts and 3 or 4 machines maybe it's no big deal. If you go larger, it could get a lot more complicated. That said, if you set it up such that each machine has the exact same set of users (as you said, Mary = UID 502, Fred = UID 503, William = UID 504), then you can do what you want. Mary can log in from multiple machines at the same time, and in general you won't have permissions problems. Of course, if you try and read and write the same file from multiple workstations at the same time, you will get file locking issues, which will prohibit somebody from successfully writing the file.
File locking issues are different from general permissions errors. The former basically says "hey, someone else is editing this file. Therefore I won't let you edit it right now... you can read it if you want though." Permissions means somebody saves it, and Xsan thinks you saved it and own the file, when you really don't.

  • Cannot validate email in iMessage / Messages

I have several email addresses. One of them is my main email. On my iPad, iPhone, and Mac I registered several email addresses I own in iMessage / Messages, but always set the "Caller ID" to be this main email. Yesterday I stopped receiving the messages on my Mac (Mountain Lion 10.8.1) addressed to this email. I removed the email, re-added, turned iMessage off and back on. Nothing.
So I removed it from my iPhone and iPad too, thinking maybe I can re-add them to all to make it work. Nothing helped, and now none of my devices will receive iMessages to my main address!
In Messages, it just looks like this (minus the red blots ):
The last one that says "Validating" is my main email, the only one I care about!
One more thing: this email has a .mx suffix (not .com.mx) for Mexico. It used to work but I don't know if something changed on the server's end.
    Thanks!

    HI,
I have an iCloud ID (@me.com) and the older dial-up email that was my Long term Apple ID.
Effectively in other places they are the same account but in Messages as the iMessage ID they are separate ones.
I have interchanged them in Messages and find that both will log in.
What I have not done is test using one of the @Mac.com names I do have.
    EDIT
I did test one and it asked that I allow a email to be sent to the email address (which this @mac.com has never been) and then sat there spinning.
I will try one or two others I have that might already be verified when I have a moment.

  • How do I send a SMS rather than a iMessage message?

I want to send a SMS message to my mothers phone (thats not a iPhone) from my iPhone. I have my mothers e-mail and Phone number in my contacts for her. So I hit messages and select my mothers name and then type my message. Tap send, then it says delivered. Everything hunkie doorie, au contraire. The message is sent to my mothers iPod not her phone. I still what to keep the e-mail so I can face time her iPod but I still want to text her on her phone. How can I send a message as a SMS rarther than a iMessage message?
    Thanks.

You might try removing your mother's email address from her contact info on your phone. If that works you could set up a different contact (misspelled or somehow different) for her email to use with facetime. I used to do this all the time to more efficiently separate home/work/cell numbers. This might be a sloppy work around, but it might work until there are different options in the settings. This is just an idea. I really have no clue if it will work. Good luck.
