IMessage Misery!! Help?

Ok, so I have a contract with T-mobile for an Iphone. The Iphone got damaged and died so I am having to claim through the insurance.
In the meantime, I have a very basic phone with the same SIM in, just with a SIM adaptor.
The problem is that people wth Iphones who have Imessage turned on are unable to send me messages unless they turn Imessage off.
I contacted T-Mobile and after a very...very.....very lengthy process...I managed to switch on Imessage on my Ipad (it was on before, but messages werent coming through)
Some messages come through on the Ipad, but not all. So basically my problem is that i cant access my iphone to switch imessage off. Is there ANY other way I can do this??
Thanks in advance!

At this point no.  I could be wrong on this, but if you have the iphone sim, you could put it in another phone and then log off imessage that way.

If you're typing in the "To" field, look at the very bottom of the keyboard, the @ key is there. Otherwise it's in the numeric keypad underneath the number 9.

  • I don't have a 3G so i use Sms/Mms messaging when i have wifi. My co'iphone users receive my text messages but i cant receive theirs because it sends as an imessage. HELP thanks

I Don't have a 3G on my iphone 4. So when i dont have a wifi, i send text through SMS/MMS messaging. I can receive and send SMS/MMS messages to non iphone users. I can also send the same messages to my co iphone users but i cant receive theirs because it sends as imessage. someone help me pls. Thnks

The only way to get around that, since you do not have a data plan, is to completely disable iMessage. While you can turn on the switch for Send As SMS on, which could send your messages as SMS when not connected to Wi-Fi and data is not turned on, it could also find your messages lost in the server and never delivered. Also, anyone sending to you would have to be set up the same way. You can check out this support document for deactivating iMessage. iOS: Deactivating iMessage
iMessage requires an active data connection for both the sender and receiver to work properly.

  • Help with iPad Identifying Phone Numbers in iMessage Send & Receive Settings / iMessage Syncing Help - iOS 6 - iPhone - iPad

With iOS6, iPhone and iPad users will see that their Send & Receive iMessage settings have updated across their devices to be made available at both phone numbers and email addresses. You may have also seen alerts on one or more of your devices advising that another device is now using the same Apple ID/phone number for iMessage.
Being able to be reached on iMessage on both Apple ID and phone numbers across devices means that iMessage can keep the same thread and sync across devices.
Due to having 2 iPhones on different phone numbers running along side my iPad at one time, (whilst I was waiting for my phone number to be moved to a new provider), my iMessage settings on my iPad lost my phone number completely. I thought I would document the steps to recover this for anyone in the same boat.
    1. Check that you are signed in with the same iCloud Account on both iPad and iPhone.
    2. Turn off iMessage on your iPad from Settings > Messages.
    3. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. You should see your phone number and your iCloud email address in the 'Your can be reached by iMessage at:' list. Make sure both are ticked.
    4. At this point, I synced my iPhone with iTunes, then synced my iPad with iTunes.
    5. On your iPad, turn iMessage back on - your phone number should now show in the 'You can be reached by iMessage at:' list. Tick the phone number. You should receive an alert on your iPhone.
    This should resolve the issue.
With the above set up and with the iOS 6 updates, iMessage should now sync fine across devices however I have still found the most successful way to run iMessage is to always start new conversations from your Apple ID and to start new threads by addressing the first message to an Apple ID from an Apple ID.
To do this, go to Settings > iMessage > Send & Receive and tick your Apple ID in the 'Start new conversations from:' list, then start a new iMessage thread to the recipients Apple ID. This way, the thread will sync across iPad and iPhone. Note that a thread set up this way will not fall back on SMS, so you get a clean iMessage thread. This method also worked/works on iOS 5, as long as you send the first message of a new thread from an iPad (which can only send via Apple ID) to an Apple ID.
    Hopefully this helped someone!

ipad has no phone number, you use a same email address for both devices. and set it in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive

  • TS2755 I can't receive messages on my iPhone 4?? It will let me send them just not receive, and this happens on text and iMessage. Help anyone?!

I have a iPhone 4 on contract and every now and then it will stop receiving messages when I am in the middle of a conversation. I don't use iMessage as I sometimes go over the limit of my Internet data. So I stick with SMS. And even when I do try with iMessage I still can't receive messages. I don't know if this is a on fault on the phone but it's a really bad downfall if its common on most iPhones. Don't get me wrong but I love this phone I think it's great but it's annoying when I can't receive messages. And at this moment
In time I still can't receive them. Been happening for 12 hours now and it's never been this long usually, advice anyone?

    Hi Tnolen15,
If you are having issues sending or receiving messages from a specific contact (in this case, your wife), you may find this portion of the following article helpful (ignore the numbering):
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.

  • When I compose a new message to someone else (who has an iPhone) it always sends the first message as a text instead of an iMessage. HELP!

When I go to compose a new iMessage to someone, it always shows up green and sends as a text message. Once they respond with an iMessage then my phone realizes to send iMessages instead of texts. Only does it when composing a new message. HELP!

Erase any conversation you have with this person in your Messages, then start a new one and see if it does same thing.    If it still doesn't go through right away, it's a problem with your friend's iMessage setup, not yours.

  • What will happen if I reset my iPad2 please send me a proper answer and I can't login to my iMessages please help me

What will happen if I reset my ipad2 I can't login to my imessages so please help me

If you are asking what happens when you delete an iCloud backup, it only deletes the backup from your account.  It won't do anything to the data on your phone or in your iCloud account.  If you don't need to backup you can delete it.  (If you no longer want to back up your phone to iCloud, turn iCloud backup off in Settings>iCloud>Backup.  Then your phone will back up to your computer each time you sync it with iTunes.)

  • Just loaded  IOS 8.1.3 and cannot use iMessage now, help!

i Just loaded the last IOS 8.1.3. It has messed up my iMessages.  I am not able to set up despite tries over 2 days. Can any one help?  Apple support has expired.

TThere are several posts like your own here. Check for them by viewing older or doing a search.  I'm not sure if there is a fix but I recall some talk of signing in with their cloud id may have helped. Good luck.

  • I cant recieve pictures but i can send them on imessage? help?

ever since i updated my software i cant recieve pictures anymore! is this happening to anyone else?

Try going into Settings>Messages, then you will see four options iMessage on/off slider and three others, ignore the tree others for now, tap on iMessage and switch the slider to off. You will see that you are now logged out of iMessage, wait 1:00 minute, then turn the slider back on It might ask you to sign in with your apple id. You now should be able to recieve photos within iMessage.
    If that does not work,
Also check and make sure that your emails are setup, under send and receive, which is under messages tab, then make sure that your email addresse is there. If not please add it. under the same tab (send and receive) you will see your apple id at the very top, make sure that is the correct apple id.
    Hope this helps!
If this does help please help me, and click on the this solved my question.

  • IMessage problems HELP!

i have currently been using my iPod touch 4th generation to talk to friends on group chats. Lately my messages that have been sent to me are coming through days after they were originally sent. My iPod is currently updated to 6.1.6 and there are currently no more updates available. I have looked at the IOS: Troubleshooting Messages and also other people's problems with recieving iMessages days later but can't find the answer. From reading other people's questions I have also found that others are having the Sam ether of problems with the IOS 6 update. Please comment below with anything that might work below.

It would seem that either Apple servers have a problem or your network provider. Nothing you can really do.

  • IMessage issues Help!!

    Hi all,
I bought me and my partner an iPad for christmas and since starting them up for the very first time and setting up iMessage and Facetime it has been working perfectly until a few days ago.
Normally I would send a message to her either on my iPad or my iPhone and she would get it. It would even sync with whichever device I hadn't used. But now it is hit and miss as to whether we receive the messages or not - despite the fact it say Message Delivered!!
My partner has reset her iPad and reconnected to her network (in France by the way) but it will not let her use the email address that she originally used to set up her Apple account. It says that the account  is unavailable or in use. All so, she has sent me messages over the past week and I seem to get one or two of them every now and again. In the mean time she has created a new email address to use on iMessage and it worked fine last night but today it seems to be down again.
I myself have made sure all my usernames, emails and passwords are all correct. I even reset the network settings last night and still this seems to have no effect. When I try and face time her it says that the email address is available at this time.
Can anybody please try and shed some light on this issue. This is the only way for us to keep in touch without racking up an enormous phone bill!!
    Many Thanks
    Chris

  • Updated my ipod touch to ios 5.1 can no longer use iMessage. Help?

I updated my iPod Touch to the new ios 5.1 the other day and since then I am having trouble with my iMessage, th send button is constantly greyed out and when I select my other iphone/ipod imessage users it tells me that they are not registered with iMessage when they qute clearly are? I've looked at a number of forums and just cannot find any answers! I'm baffled!

If you are messaging an iPhone, you may use the phone-number of the iPhone to iMessage them without a problem. When you are attempting to connect to an iPod Touch or iPad, you must use an email address as that is how Apple can identify the iPhone. However, you have to be careful. This email might not be the email they use everyday or the email that is used as their Apple ID. They may have chosen to use a different email to associate specifically with iMessage. This should not have any dependence on the operating system (I am using iMessage on an iPod Touch 4th generation iOS 5.1 without a problem). However, you might be making some mistake in your procedure or there may be a bug in the iMessage tied with iOS 5.1 that was able to reach you but not me. I suggest that you, if your warranty has not expired, contact support for iPod Touch, for iPhone, or for iPad. If all else fails, you should make an appointment with an Apple Genius Bar for free!
