IMessage no longer working on my mac desktop

I have always used Messages on my desktop, iPad, and iPhone.
Since my last upgrade to 10.10.2 I can no longer use Messages on my DESKTOP.
All of my other devices are working fine.
1. Via my phone settings my DESKTOP does not show display as an option for forwarding, only my iPad and iPad mini appear in the list.
2. I have signed out of Messages completely on EVERY device and plugged them into my desktop and synced them.
3. I have signed back in, all devices working EXCEPT my DESKTOP; which allows me to send out, the message says 'delivered' but no one is getting the message. I cannot receive messages although my account is listed as active.
3. FaceTime dials out and keeps ringing, but anyone trying to answer the call gets a 'hang up' on their end.
I have reset my wifi. Same.
Every device I own is working EXCEPT THE DESKTOP. (caps because I have read answers to desktop questions actually using iPhone and iPad setting solutions as though no one is really reading the question being asked).

Contact Apple Support.
Ask them to reset your Apple ID on the iMessages servers for your Mac.
Re: Continuity, Handoff, Instant Hotspot and iMessage stop working
It should be Free although you may need to speak to a Level two person or Higher as the Level one people are Script Led and try to fit everything in to AppleCare or payment for Software or Hardware issues.

My iMessages no longer work on my iPad or mac. They still work on my iPhone. It says all my contacts are no longer registered with iMessage.

There have been no updates recently.
You would also know if the computer had stopped for an Update.
On the Mac in the Contacts App in the Contacts Menu > Accounts is it shown to be using iCloud to Sync the info between all devices ?

IMessage no longer works between me and my girlfriend?

I have an iPhone 4 and my girlfriend has an iPhone 4S both with 5.1.1. We went on an international trip and she used a local simcard for a while. When we returend iMessaging no longer works between us. It works between all other iPhone users though. How do we fix this? We have tried hard resets of both phones. Thanks.

This worked for a while but now it's back to the same old problem. Any other ideas? This is super annoying.

I am considering purchasing a new Mac desktop. I have, at present, a Liteon 851S ext CD/DVD write and a Maxtor 3200 USB ext hard drive. Will these work with a Mac desktop? My local Apple store could not answer my question.Happy New year to all.

Yes the Mac can read that drive but you would need to Copy the data off of it to the Mac as apposed to Move, which implies Deleting them from the drive as they were transferred from the external to the Mac. Since the Mac can Not Write to NTFS drives it can't Delete anything as that is really a Write operation, IE Making changes to the NTFS formatted drive.
Once you have that Data on Both your New Mac and you Older Windows PC you can format that drive to work on both system.
If you want to and plan on doing that post back and I'll explane how, it is simple but should be done on a Windows PC.
If you only plan on using it on the Mac from now on that is fairly simple also and is done on the Mac, Once you have the files from it stored on the Mac.
Yes you could burn those photos to DVD but that is just a waste of DVDs, you don't need to.

my iphoto is no longer working either, as well as my dvd player, so i decided to reinstall, using my installer disc, but my computer turns it around a few times, then spits it out! what can i do?

It's not possible to restore the operating sysem from your install disc on a Mac running v10.9 Mavericks.
The only way to restore OS X is to startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys so you can access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery
Try iPhoto and the DVD Player app after you restore OS X.

My Sony CR-10 no longer works with my Mac

After upgrading my Mac to 10.7, my Sony printer drivers no longer work.

Had the same problem with my Kingston FCR-HS3 Cardreader (FW 0123, bought Aug. 2012) when using it on my Macbook Pro Retina 2012 with MacOS Mavericks 10.9.1 on the USB 3.0 port. Trying it on my MacPro Early 2008 with MacOS Mavericks 10.9.1 on USB 2.0 port everything was okay.
When trying to update the firmware of my cardreader to version 0131 (on a Windows 8 notebook) which is only available for Windows, I had an error several times and could not update. After changing to another USB-Port on this notebook everything went okay.
Now my cardreader is working fine and I even notice a rise in transfer speed from 100 (before) to 120 MB/s when using fast CF-cards (600x or 1000x).

I called Apple Support after trying many fixes suggested online. They directed me to the procedure on the following page:

I did the erase and restore option they suggested since I had tried a pile of ther things suggested on posts and blogs and they did not work. I even waited the obligatory 24 hours, thus the restore from backup option was what they suggested. I have a 64gig iPhone 4S and it took about 1.5 hours to complete the entire operation seeing that I am using about 54 gigs of that capacity.
Warning: I lost all of my emails and all of the data files from one of my map programs so be sure you have everything that you really need from your phone store elsewhere before wiping your phone. I thought that the backup on my computer would restore everything but obviously NOT.

I have a photoshop elements 11 which I purchased some time ago which has a disc for mac computers but will not load on my mid 70s (7.1) mac desktop which is running on the latest 10.9.5 maverick software can anyone give me advice on which elements addition will work on my Mac.

That FAQ is merely the adobe official line. If you have a full version of PSE 6 for mac, it should work in 10.9, really.

Imessages no longer working

My friend and I both updated software and have wifi - we used to chat via imessage but now it only works via SMS?

This just occurred on my iP6 as well. iMessage was working fine and then stopped. Discovered that somehow iOS 8 turned off iMessage in my settings, perhaps because I was in area when only extended coverage. Clearly a bug, and yet another annoying iOS 8 experience. I waste a lot of time trying to figure how why things no longer work in iOS 8.

IMessage doesn't work on my Mac Pro or MB Air

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and both my Mac Pro and MB Air don't work with iMessage, although my new MBPro had it already on the dock when I got the computer. All my systems are now 10.8.2. Is it just that these machines are too old to work with iMessage? Thanks, Katherine

Hi,
When you start up Messages for the first time you should have been asked for an Apple ID.
This would have set up an iMessage Account in the Message Menu > Preferences > Accounts.
This list at this point should have at least the Bonjour Option (Even if not Enabled) as well as the iMessages "Account"
You may also have any AIM Names or Jabber IDs that were on your Machine in Lion (iChat 6)
See also System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars.
These accounts in Messages may or may not be Enabled depending on the Mail, Contacts an Calendars settings or those in Messages - basically they can be turned On and Off outside the app.
If you had not AIM (or AIM Valid) Name or Jabber ID set up and you wished to then you would need to press the + icon/Button at the lower left of the list of Accounts.
This lesads to a new Pane where you an add AIM or Google or Jabber or Yahoo Account details.
Certain Apple IDs (@Mac.com and @me.com) are Valid AIM names and can be entered here in full.
This last bit does mean that some Apple IDs may well be set up for the iMessages part and as a Valid AIM name for the AIM Service. (i.e Messages shows two Accounts for the same "Name")
However if your Apple ID that is valid with AIM has a password longer then 16 characters then you may have issues as the AIM servers can only cope with passwords Up to 16 characters.
If you have an AIM account in the Messages Preferences you can either Disable it (Untick the "Enable this account" box) or highlight it and use the - (minus) button.
