IMessage not letting me send from my phone number, on email?

My phone alerted me today that it can't send iMessages from my phone number anymore and can only send my emails. I tried to go back and re-select my number but it's shaded grey (it is not letting me select it). I'm not really sure what to do at this point

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
From the Messages menu bar, select
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts
and choose from the menu labeled

    Hi believer924,
Happy Holidays!  What version of Mac OS are you working with?  The article below will explain how to confirm your phone number is linked to your Apple ID for iMessage.  On your Mac, you should be able to remove the checkmark in front of your email address in the "You can be reached by iMessage at" and "Start New Conversations from" sections of iMessage settings.
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201349
Your iPhone telephone number is linked to your Apple ID when you sign in to FaceTime or iMessage. This allows you to use your iPhone number with FaceTime and iMessage on other iOS devices.
This feature isn't available on iPod touch (3rd generation) and iPad (1st generation).
This feature is available with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later.
On OS X, find out which addresses are enabled:
In Messages, choose Messages > Preferences > Accounts. Select iMessage in the left column. Your contact preferences should appear under "You can be reached for messages at:."

FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Open FaceTime and Messages, then sign in to your Apple ID in Preferences.
If your phone number still isn't listed on your Mac, follow these steps:
Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.

If anyone knows how to fix Gmail & Mavericks not letting me send or receive attachments from pages or numbers and saying security risk, please let me know.

It's not a fix but for the time being the options seem to be to use the Pages/Numbers Export command to create a Pages 09 format or Word format or pdf format etc file. Another option described is to go back to using the previous version of Pages and Numbers. http://www.macworld.com/article/2059061/dealing-with-pages-file-conversion-and-e mail-attachment-problems.html

  • TS2755 My husband and I have iPhone 4S's.  For some reason, my text messages show up on his phone.  We share the Apple ID, and my settings are such that I send and receive from my phone number and email address. How do we correct this?

My husband and I both have iphone 4S's and for some reason he gets my text conversations w/ other people.  We share the apple ID and I have my settings set to and from my phone # and email address.  He is getting tired of being apart of text messages I am on.  How do we remedy this?

Each of you need to have your own apple id's instead of sharing is the best way. But you can go to each phones settings, messages, send and recieve, and down to start new conversation from, and make sure each of you have your own email address with a check mark beside of it not the same address.

  • IPhone 4s will not let me text to one phone number

My iPhone 4s will not let me text to my brother's phone number.  It keeps giving the message "Error Invalid Number.  Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code."  I have rebooted my phone; same problem.  I checked the number; it is correct with area code and 7-digit number.  I have no trouble texting anyone else in my contact list.  The number is not blocked.

I'd head to an Apple Retail Store or contact AppleCare at 1-800-275-2273

My IMessages aren't sending from my phone number and when I go to send and receive it won't let me select my phone number only my email. I've turned iMessage on and off. I've signed in and out of appleid. I've restarted my phone.  I've made sure that my phone number in my appleid settings were right and nothing had worked. I've looked on other discussion and have tired what people have suggested and nothing as worked. Please help me

    Hey Ineedhelp2,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iMessage across your iOS devices. The following resource outlines troubleshooting information that you may find helpful:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
If you aren't receiving iMessages across all iOS devices
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on each iOS device and make sure that you signed in with your Apple ID. You must use the same Apple ID on each device.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By iMessage At and make sure that you selected each phone number and email address you want to use with iMessage.
If you linked a phone number to your Apple ID with iMessage and the phone number hasn't appeared, follow these steps.
Sign out of your Apple ID in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and Settings > FaceTime on all devices.
If you're linking a phone number to an Apple ID, sign in to iMessage on your iPhone first. Then sign in to the rest of your device one by one with iMessage and FaceTime.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • IMessage won't allow me to sign into Apple ID and won't let me click on my phone number

I recently had to get a new phone due to damage and so now i had to set up my new phone. while in the process it won't let me sign into my apple ID for iMessages and will not let me click on my phone number to be able to iMessage other people. please help! thank you

Since all the documents are held on iCloud and read from there by your Mac, obviously they will disappear from your Mac (but not the server) when you sign out. They will reappear (give them time) when you sign back in.

  • My iMessage won't let me change/add my phone number to send iMessages, only sends from iCloud email??

my imessage shows my old phone # and my iCloud email to send messages but my old # is blocked out so I can't delete or choose it , only lets me use my icloud for iMessages and it's driving me nuts!!

    Hi Tyeisha1,
This article has some information about using your phone number with iMessage:
    iOS: Using Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3529
You can change the address that new iMessage conversations are started with in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start new conversations from:. Note that this setting applies only to new conversations. If you would like to change the address from which messages are sent, first change this setting, and then delete the existing conversation and start a new one.
iMessage responses will be sent from the address the recipient most recently messaged. For example, a friend sends you a message to your Apple ID. Responses in this conversation will be sent from your Apple ID, even if you've selected new conversations to start from your phone number.
    Cheers,
    - Ari
