IMessage not signing in anymore - MacBook OS 10.9.5

A couple weeks ago, iMessage suddenly stopped syncing on my Mac.  I noticed I could see previous conversations, but it looked as if I was "offline."  I went into preferences and noticed that my Apple ID account wasn't logged in, so I typed in my password, and it just sat there with a spinning wheel doing nothing.  I finally force quit the program, and upon opening it again, now I can't get past the main login screen.  I type in my Apple ID and password, then a pop up box asks for my iMessage password, and upon typing it in and hitting Sign In, it just sits there on the main login screen yet again greyed out with the spinning wheel.  It will sit there like this for hours if I let it, until I finally just force quit.
I've tried googling for similar issues but I'm not finding any good results.  Anyone have any ideas?
To clarify, now that I can't get past the main login screen, I can't even access Preferences anymore.  It's greyed out.  Also my password is correct, I used it to create this post.  I am not receiving any error messages whatsoever, just the spinning wheel that never tires.

Hi,
Can you use the Apple Icon Menu top left and open the About this Mac item.
In here click twice on the line that shows your the current OS.
It will change to the Build Number then the Serial Number.
Is the Serial Number present ?
If it is then go to Applications/Utilities and open the Keychain Access app.
In here have Login selected top left.
Have Passwords selected lower left and then find the item that reads "IDS: YourAppleID.com-Auth Token"  in the right hand pane and delete it.
Restart Messages.
If that does not work Open the Font Book
Scroll to near the Bottom and find AppleGothic (all one word)
Check this is Enabled, Validates (File Menu) and is not duplicated.
Repeat for Helvetica Neue and Lucida Grande that the app also uses.
If that does not work can you use or create an Mac User Account that is different from your regular Mac User login  and set up the Messages app > iMessages account with the same details and test it in that Mac User account.
If the Guest option is enabled in System Preferences > User and Groups you can test in that login.

  • IMessage not sending messages on Macbook?

I just got my macbook air last night and i had it all set up.
i opened imessage and entered my apple ID and associated which email id like to receive messages on.

I was able to successfully send one message to a friend.

  • Nothing seems to solve my MacBook Pro problem 'Could not sign in.Please Check your network connection and try again'

On old MacBook Pro Version 10.6.8 downloaded Facetime from the Mac Store as instructed but error loging in says 'Could not sign in.Please Check your network connection and try again'.
I have follwed all these discussion fixes with DNS settings 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and refreshing everything but nothing works.
    Help!
I have also logged out of my other laptop and closed my phones Facetime.

    Hi KateD14!
I have an article here that addresses this sign in issue with FaceTime and may have some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve this issue:
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: Troubleshooting sign in issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3970
    Resolution
    Try the following:
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.
Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website. Other things you should confirm while logged into appleid.apple.com:
Confirm that the email addresse(s) for your Apple ID has been verified.
Check for miss-types of the email address
Check the spelling of the email address
Check that all letters are lower case
Make sure that special characters are correct, e.g. no commas (,) where there is supposed to be full stops (.), etc.
Note You may experience issues if your email address is associated with more than one Apple ID. If you have multiple Apple IDs, log in to appleid.apple.com with each Apple ID and confirm that each email address you wish to use for FaceTime or Messages is associated with only a single Apple ID.
Make sure the date, time, and time zone are set correctly in Data & Time preferences, in System Preferences. Tip: Enable "Set date and time automatically" in Date & Time preferences to automatically keep this information accurate.
If third-party firewall or port filtering software is installed, it needs to be configured to allow connections to apple.com, verisign.com and verisign.net. A list of ports required for using FaceTime and Messages is in Using FaceTime and iMessage behind a firewall. Please consult this article for further help configuring firewalls and Internet security software.
If your /private/etc/hosts file has been modified, make sure that it is not interfering with communications to apple.com, verisign.com or verisign.net servers. Note: Some third-party software installers may modify the /private/etc/hosts file without alerting you. Instructions about how to check and resolve issues with a /private/etc/hosts file are in the "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows)" section of iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting

  • IMessage on ML - "Could not sign into iMessage. Please check network settings and try again"

i came across an issue when signing into iMessage with an Apple ID on Mac.
i had been experiencing the "Could not sign into iMessage. Please check network setting and try again" error for iMessage issue since installing Mountain Lion. i finally solved my problem after talking to the Apple Tech Support team.
    Here's the steps:
    1. Shut down laptop.
    2. Switch on laptop again. immediately hold down the left "SHIFT" key until u get into the log in screen. By doing this, ur laptop will be in "Safe Boot" mode.
    3. Sign into iMessage using Apple ID. (i was able to sign into iMessage for the first time on my Mac since getting ML)
    4. Shut down laptop again.
    5. This time switch laptop on normally.
    6. You should be able to use iMessage normally.
in addition, make sure the boxes for date & time and timezone are ticked to be set automatically.
Hope this is helpful for users experiencing the same issue i had. it did for me!
    Cheers

    Okay,
let me add my story to this thread.
Brand spanking MBA, Mountain Lion.......logged into Imessage 1st thing, no prob.
Then, after a few weeks; in the middle of a chat....the name of the other person turned red and my sent messages received a red dot as they were not sent. I checked with the other person.
I couldn`t recieive any messages either, not from any contact.
I logged out, and I couldn`t log in anymore.
I get a yellow triangle saying something like "error while logging in, try again later".
I tried again and again later........
I seeked help on this forum and a user helped me initially.
I re-installed the whole Mountain Lion, a process that I don`t care to repeat too often.
That fixed it for a while, but yesterday the same thing happened.
In the middle of a chat....the red name, the red dots......well, you get the picture.
    I tried, to no avail:
    # to log in after reseting the PRAM
    # boot up and log in whilst in SAVE mode. It will NOT log in, same problem
    # to log in after deleting all Imessages and Facetime files in Library/Preferences
    # to log in with my wife`s Apple ID, or any ID really.
What did work was logging in with my ID on my wife`s Ipad, no worries.
My account is Yahoo, and don`t seem to be the problem.
    Please, any suggestions welcome.
I have urged Apple politley to give us a fix at:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    Thanks,

Recently, my image is not signing in to my account. I input my account information and I see the "downloading circle" and that's where it stays. • Imessage facetime not signing in

I can not sign in to iMessage or Facetime on my Macbook pro with OSX 10.8.5

Ok, I fixed this issue on my own. I purchased this Macbook Pro used from Craigslist. About a week later I found out there was no serial number in the "About This Mac" window. So I think the logic board was replaced by a non Apple or non lisenced Apple tech.
iMessenger and Facetime could not authenticate the device so the login process would just loop for a few minutes then throw an error.
I downloaded the Apple Blank Board Serializer 3t106 063-7137 which is what the Apple techs use when they replace a board to burn the serial number into the firmware. I copied the serial number from inside the battery bay into this serializer and rebooted and poof - my serial number now appears in the "About this Mac" window.
AND both iMessenger and Facetime instantly logged in with no problems.
