IMessage not synchronised across iOS devices

I have an iPhone 3GS and iPad. Both run iOS 5.1 and using the same apple ID.
Messages sent from one should appear on the other device.
My devices do not sync. My iPhone has two "Receive At" addresses - the phone number and the
email which is also my apple ID.
Is there a setting I should know about so that it works as advertised?

I ran into a similar problem. Once I upgraded to iOS 5.1 messages sent from my iPhone showed up on the receiving phone having come from my email address. Oddly enough if you go to Settings->Messages->Recieve At you will see two addresses. Your Apple Id should be present at the top then in the middle box your phone number, and an email address (presumably the one tied to your Apple ID). Turns out that this was fine in iOS 5. When I upgraded to iOS 5.1 all messages started to come from my email address (actually my apple Id in this case). When I selected my apple Id, and chose "Sign Out", then my text messages were once again coming from my phone, not my email address. Not sure if iOS 5 had a bug and this was the correct behaviour in iOS 5.1 or what...but you might try logging out from your Apple ID.
SO ... my guess is that 1 device is using your apple Id email, and the other is using your phone number. So log out of your Apple Id on both devices. Then log back in and select the option of your email as the Caller Id option and I suspect that will fix the sync issue.

My games are not syncing across my iOS devices. Both my iPhone and iPad are running the same software and are linked to the same account. However my games don't seem to sync. Which is annoying if I'm playing a game on one device I have to start over on another. For example temple run does not sync. Anyone have any suggestions. Game syncs only work for games that support iCloud. The game developer has to enable that feature. There are several games such as Jetpack Joyride and League of Evil 2 that support iCloud syncing of games. Unfortunately, other games like Temple Run don't do that since the dev never implemented that feature.

Hi All,
I have recently got on iPhone 4S as well as my exisiting iPad 1. My wife also has an iPad 2. All these devices have been updated sucesssfully to iOS 5.
We have one central iTunes account (mine) that gets used to purchase apps and music from iTunes - nothing out of the ordinary there.
We also have two iCloud accounts for use with our own devices (mine on the iPad1 and iPhone - my wife has one for her iPad2).
On the face of it - we can message back and forth ok apart from one small problem. Any conversation I start on the iPad will get duplicated to the iPhone but wont show any replies - these all go to the iPhone. So I'm basically looking at a one sided conversation from the iPad point of view.
Any conversation started on the iPhone just doesnt show up on the iPad at all.
I've found several posts (all based on the same theme) that suggests that I change the caller ID to the apple (iCloud) account on the phone and also 'reconfirm' the settings on the iPad.
This I have done several times but with no joy. I get the feeling that the sync between multiple devices isnt quite there yet.
Has anyone else come up against this in here - and if so - how did you fix it.

The feature really doesn't work very well yet. Most likely a future update will fix it or at least make it more obvious why it doesn't behave consistently.
For what it's worth, after following the caller ID instructions that you have tried, it took about a day for syncing to start working but some conversations and messages still never show up on my iPad.
Not much we can do but wait for iOS 5.1 I'm afraid. No doubt apple are aware of the issue at this point.

I can confirm this bug.
Not sure if this info is relevant, but this is my experience:
I am on the FIDO network, and so are two other people I know.
We all tried blocking numbers, and calls ring right through. Text messages are blocked successfully. (never tried facetime)
I also tried a ROGERS device running IOS7, and was successfully able to block my phone call from ringing through. HOWEVER, my call was forwarded to their voicemail, I was able to leave a voicemail for the person, and they did get an alert that they had a new voicemail.
I have not yet had a chance to test this on Bell, Telus, or any other carriers.
Spoke to Apple, and they advised me to do a hard reset (hold both buttons to shut off and reboot the phone), and if that fails to do an iOS restore.
I have yet to try this, but hopefully someone will have a better solution.

Photos from the PC does not appear on iOS devices

Win7-64 installed icloud 2.0. Iphone 4, iPad new (iOS 6)
I put the photos in the folder uploads, they appear on your computer in the my photostream, but do not appear on ios devices.
Climbed into the iPhone file manager and found an interesting picture. Photos taken on iOS go to one folder photostream and displayed on all devices and PCs, but throw in uploads pictures in Windows also went on iOS devices, but for some reason in a completely different location. And in the photostream on iPhones and aypade not appear, although present. I wonder what this folder is and whether it is in others?
Reset iphone now tried, does not help.

You shouldn't have to hard restart and it shouldn't have anything to do with your router. If anyone else runs into this problem try resetting the network settings on your phone. All the steps to do this can be found here http://tekshot5.com/ios-5-1-imessage-fix/
Edit: Some of us don't have the option of resetting our DNS servers. I run my own for example for caching purposes.

Hi Naddod , I have the same problem. The same pc photostream receives new photos added using the photostream "add picture" button but ipad and iphone does not. If I take new photo from Iphone I can find it in Photostream of PC, Iphone and Ipad. Seems IOS error. Strange thing is that , if then I erase that new photo from the PC photostream, than it will be erased from photostream of PC, iPhone and iPad, erasing works, adding not.

Can't synchronize Contacts across iOS devices: iPad, iPhone

Like many other people, I have issues synchronizing Contacts across iOS devices. I tried all tips given in these forums, to no avail. I have a new iPad that just won't pick up any of the contacts from my old iPhone. Also, the iPad Contacts now doesn't have an Add button anymore (another problem reported by others as well).
Shouldn't it be trivial to merge and synchronize a simple list of contacts via a cloud service ?
Why does it seem to cause so much trouble to so many users ?

What I hadn't tried, was to delete the iCloud account on the new device, and then set it up again.
That solved the problem in my case: the Contacts from the old device (iPhone) are now finally synchronized on the new device (iPad).
Hope this discussion will help other folks who face the same problem !
Try fiddling with the on/off buttons as suggested, and if that fails, try deleting/re-creating the iCloud account on the new device.

After downloading maverick, iCloud will not sync across my devices

Since downloading Maverick [10.9], iCloud will not sync across my devices. Mail is not working properly. I'm being asked for passwords from everything.
Also, every time I close and then reopen Mail, I get a message saying "Mail cannot connect to the iCloud account "iCloud", requiring my password, again!
Is there a solution to this? How can I find out if it's server related, etc.?

I'm pretty sure you are full of it unless it was for a specific carrier messaging option. you CANNOT use iMessage with android devices. only iPhones, iPod and iPad running iOS 5.1.

Email settings DO NOT WORK WITH iOS Devices

Vz keeps sending these "important" instructions for email port settings, BUT they do not work with iOS devices--iPhones and iPads. Last go around with this I spent over 16 hours trying to reconcile until an Apple Expert discovered "special" instructions for iOS device settings. Get with the program, Verizon.

i have a iphone 5 and a ipad 2 on ios 6, before ios 6 imessages came through to both devices (before iphone 5 i had 4) but now my imessages are only coming through to my iphone, ive checked im signed in on imessage on my ipad and i am i have rebooted multiple times but when i try to send a message from ipad it says unable to send! any help??

try signing out of messages/icloud on your ipad and signing back in. that sorted it for me.

I messages have stopped appearing on my iPhone and iPad. They only remain on the original device. Not sure what changed. Don't know how to get back to all devices. I've checked and double checked the settings, and it says send/receive from 2 addresses, but not working.

I finally fixed the problem. First, I had to turn off iMessage in both devices. Then, I deleted all previous imessages. I turned on iMessage on both devices, entered apple ID to populate both number and email for iMessage. When I entered a new person to iMessage, messages appeared on both devices. Hope this helps anyone else with the problem.
