when using imessage in os 10.8.2 i am not able to send imessages i can type the message but when i try to send it i can click send but then it disapers and is not shown and i never is receved but the person that i was sending it to help please thsnk you

Okay sure! Lets start right from the top with this then so we can both understand fully.
I am pretty sure you are but I will ask anyway... Are you running Mac and if so which OS? Snow Leopard (10.6)/Lion (10.7)?
Exactly which QuickTime are you running? To find out, open it up then in the top left (next to the Apple) press QuickTime and then under there click about. It will tell you the version number in there...
Next, what are the exact problems you are experiencing with QuickTime? Is it just certain types of video files such as .avi or .wmv? Also, are you having any problems using QuickTime on the web? The best way to test that if you havent already is to head over to apple.com and try playing any of their product videos as they should always use QuickTime...

2-3 days ago, iMessage just stopped working on all my devices (2 iPads; 1 iPhone; 1 Mac), and it hasn't come back since. iPhone waiting for activation, the rest just don't send the messages.
FaceTime and iCloud work fine.
I really hope this is resolved soon, because I rely heavily on iMessage for the majority of my communications, and I need it back ASAP as I'm on holiday and out of my home country.

Try tapping Settings > FaceTime, turning FaceTime Off, editing the Apple ID associated with FaceTime, and then turning it back on.

IMessage not working - stuck on "waiting for activation"

Hello all,
I have had my iPhone 4 since June 2011 and have had no issues with it until the past few days. I noticed that I was having troubles sending iMessages to fellow iPhone users - something I never had issues with before. Now and again a message here or there would send as text rather than iMessage, but it always went back to iMessage after a short time. This morning however, iMessage was completely not working, with anyone - I even sent a test text to myself, and even that would not send as an iMessage (normally it would). Reading through various Apple Forums it told me to try to turn off, then turn back on my iMessage feature....however, as soon as I turned it off and tried to turn it back on, it stalls at "waiting for activation" and now does not work at all. I have been waiting for roughly an hour, and still nothing.
I have tried a hard reset. I have tried various "fixes" found on Apple forums, but it still is not working. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know a fix? I'm not sure whether this is an iPhone issue or an issue with Verizon's carrier service. Any help is very much appreciated.

Do u have good signal. It might wait for activation if not a really good data connection because our house is not having trouble with that part.
I have have had an iphone since april 2011 and ive had a problem recently as it sends as text although I have iMessage on and send as text off. I know imesage is only iphone to apple product. It one way doesent recognize the recipent is an iphone or apple product. But sending back it worked. Also it shows as an iMessage but then turns into a text.
Verizon tech support and customer service blamed it on apple also said have a text block on verizon end of the phone to solve it but I have a text block on the phone that it comes with saying it wont send as text if imessage wont work. They didn't believe there's such thing but whatever. I think a text block on Verizon thats just a work around but i think there should be a real resolution and not blame apple for everything. I have had less issues with this then others. I like to text and understand costs for it but I shouldn't be charged for a messege to another iPhone when I have done all procautions. I like to pay for things that i desirve and not things that technically if things work right. both phones have ios5 or above both have I messege on and send as text off. This has happened off and on for awhile but it has been months since it happened last and I got charged for 7 texts sent and 7 recieved.
Sorry for the rant but I see I'm not the only one.

I have this set up with one Mac and two iPhones (Not Multiple Macs)
I added the Apple ID to the Mac for iMessages.
I then added the Apple ID to the first iPhone.
I accepted the pop ups on the Mac so that the iPhone was Listed in Receive At (you might have to Restart the App on the Mac to trigger this).
I then added the Apple ID to the Second iPhone and again accepted the pop ups in the Mac.
IF this is what you think you did but it is not working remove the Apple ID from both iPhones
Place the iPhones in Airplane mode fro a few minutes to Break with the server.
when back in normal mode and in Settings > Messages check the iPhone number is ticked and active.
(Send a Test message to the Apple ID (Mac) to check)
Add back the Apple ID if the test works.
Restart the Mac version to trigger the pop ups and Accept.
Repeat the set up with tests for send iPhone.
I have never set this up with one ID on two or more computers but it should work.

You shouldn't have to hard restart and it shouldn't have anything to do with your router. If anyone else runs into this problem try resetting the network settings on your phone. All the steps to do this can be found here http://tekshot5.com/ios-5-1-imessage-fix/
Edit: Some of us don't have the option of resetting our DNS servers. I run my own for example for caching purposes.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

I just purchased an iPad. The iMessage feature is not working at all. I have an iphone4 and I message works fine. Every time I try to send with the iMessage it says message failed. I was trying to send it to another apple user. I believe that you can't send to people who do not have apple Ids.
Please let me know no to fix it.

Ok... That makes sense. However I sent a message to a fiend it said message send figure on the iPad but I guess went though my phone cause she was able to answer it and the response went to the iPad.

I restore my phone and nothing didn't work it went back to the same way it was saying its still waiting for activation. But the weird thing is that my iMessage was still working but it still said waiting for activation. So I don't know what to do anymore. All my apps got deleted but didn't help nothing at all. :(

IMessage not working on Apple Watch

I just received my Apple Watch and for some reason when I try to send an iMessage to someone it will only send as SMS from the watch. Everything is working correctly from my iPhone and iPad. And even though it delivers the SMS message to the recipient, eventually the Watch will display a notification that the message failed to send.
Any ideas why this would be happening? I've rebooted the watch and iPhone, etc. Signed out and into iCloud, etc.

Hi everyone - thanks for all the suggestions. I believe I found out what the problem was. I use 2 factor authentication with iCloud. When that's enabled, iMessage and FaceTime need to have an app specific password generated (not your regular AppleID password). During my initial setup of the Watch, I put in my AppleID password when it asked for iMessage. This caused it not to work. I re-paired the Watch (as Winston suggested) and when it asked for the iMessage password, I made sure to use the app specific generated password.
Now iMessage is working properly all around.
Hope this helps others. It's not obvious when you are doing the initial setup.

Java does not work at all upon using the update manager to update to firefox 3.6.10 for Ubuntu 9.0.4

upon updating to firefox 3.6.10, java does not work at all.
websites that use java do not work at all anymore, when they worked just fine before the updating thru update manager. e.g. hulu website cannot play any of the shows.
i can give the folder of bookmarked pages i tried.
how to do that on here, i've yet to see if possible.
i can even give saved text from the terminal concerning certain attempts.
when i updated thru update manager, it gave some weird java plugin that wasn't there before "The IcedTea Web Browser Plugin IcedTea6 Java Web Browser Plugin (execution of applets on webpages)".
i uninstalled this as instructed by an answer found in one of the pages i saved, cuz it was conflicting w/another java program the updater said i needed. right now, i don't remember for sure what it was. it perhaps was realplayer flash or Java itself. w/all the hours/days of searching i put in, it's difficult if not downright impossible for me to remember all the specifics of what i tried.
i've searched throughout many webpages (including many searches on mozilla, ubuntu, java, etc) for instruction in fixing the problem.
oh, and incidentally, on the Java site, when i try the verify test of Java, firefox pops up with that yellow bar right below the slew of tabbed website windows, giving the statement "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page. (w/link to) install missing plugins ." which is what i do, go thru the requesting plugin installation. it comes up with, guess what, the IcedTea Java Plugin. i click on the 'next' in the "Plugin Finder Service" box that pops up, & all it gives me is "No plugins were installed. IcedTea ...Plugin failed. and the link 'find out more about plugins or manually find missing plugins'". the link takes me to some of the very things/plugins that wouldn't install in the first place. the Java test failure is a LOL funny, as what plugin it is saying is required (IcedTea) is a recommended alternate program to display the very test in the first place.
i followed the given instructions on those many searched pages, in every case (barring what i may have just plain missed), but to no avail.
i've even gone to the point of trying to reinstall the previous 3.5.13 firefox version, from mozilla site. even that wouldn't install.
i've tried installing Java for my sys direct from it's site. nada.
now it's time for me to post the problem & perhaps someone will come up with some kind of "dummy" way to fix it.
until then many sites a regularly use are totally useless to me on this fast puter.
the only way i can get to use such sites, are two choices: 1. use a dinosaur laptop, which is slower than molasses & cannot handle to any streaming stuff, or 2. use an available internet access puter at the library. but useage for ea person per day is limited to only one hour a day. and one can end up waiting for an hour or more ( in the busiest periods) to even get to use one.
so, is there anyone at all, who knows any for-sure working fix for this problem?

I know how to use about:config & have had the usual problems with newtab page tiles but this is more like a bug- using 33.0.1. Doesn't show tiles icon in top right corner just shows a gear that is used to hide the empty tiles that I can't fill with sites. First it would only show 2 rows of 4 columns even though I had it set to 5 & 6 then few days later for no reason they went empty with a serrated line around the tiles & can't drag from the bookmarks---- really bloody annoying!!!!!!! Possibly a setting in the about:config but i can't fig it out?
