Imessage not working ios 6 HELP!!!
one day i was facetiming then my ipod died, after plugging it to charge and turning it on i wanted to use facetime again but it signed me out. i've tried to sign back in but it only tells me "unable contact facetime server.Try again" i've tried sooooo many times but it always tells me the same thing. same thing happends with imessage. i have an ipod touch 4th Gen version 6.1.3 and i"ve had it for amost 2yrs and nothing like this has happed before. I've tried everything to make it work i restored it, i've done a hard reset, and reset my settings a bunch of times but nothing's work so far. PLEASE HELP!!! D=

Please help me I changed my sim to a kogan sim & I am unable to get iMessage to work it keeps saying waiting for activation. It won't let me select my number which wasn't even in general - phone - my number. I had to enter this manually. I have tried to restore my network settings, removed my sim, rebooted my phone, turning iMessage & FaceTime off, changing my country etc etc! Nothing is working I am so frustrated!!!
I have pretty much the same problem with my Iphone 4!! Imessage and Facetime not activating anymore.

Since I have updated my software, my imessage and facetime is not activating. I have tried to reset the phone, holding the lock button and the home button, trying to connect it under different wifi. Nothing seems to be working, it is really frustrating as I am a big user of facetime & imessage and many of my messages are not being recieved due to imessage not working. If anyone has anyother ideas or tips how to help me out I would really really appreciate it!!

I live in South Africa, and I had the same problem with my iPhone 4.
After weeks of frustration and swearing, I was in the process of restoring my phone to a previous iOS. To do that you need to turn the "Find my iPhone" option off, since i turned it off, my problem was solved. No need to repair anything or revert back to old iOS.
***** that i cant use Find my iPhone, but atleast i can use my phone. -

all three where working fine until the 8.01 updateApple just pulled the update because it is a major fubar! You will have to rollback your iPhone to the base iOS 8 using iTunes and Apple needs to seriously test its patches!
Update:
Simply connect your phone to iTunes and back up your data. Then, click the “Restore iPhone” button and follow the on-screen instructions. It’s a huge pain, but at least it’s better than having your shiny new iPhone turned into a big expensive iPod touch. -
this is what my iphone 4 shows. iv tried switching off again and again, closing apps by double tapping the home button but still not working. please help.

Unfortunately on these days I'm in a country that Apple don't have any retail store here and for sake of time I prefer to fix it myself to DHL it to the nearest country to use its warranty. Do you have any idea how can I fix it? Do you think it's a software issue?

I backed up my Iphone to itunes so i can do the new Update to IOs 7 and so now that i updated it i want to backup and restore and its not working, Please help!
An iPhone backup to a computer via iTunes stores the photos in a backup file that is only meant to be be used if needed to restore back to the phone. There is 3rd party "extractor" software available but otherwise the photos are not directly viewable.
The backup via iTunes was a good idea and your Camera Roll photos should be there and should be able to be restored to your new phone. However if it was me I wouldn't rely on that alone. I would also import the photos to a computer where you can see and verify that you have a copy. That is a good idea at any time (not just when you know you might need it). Any phone can be lost, broken, suffer hardware issues, etc at any time and lose all data on it. You shouldn't have to hard restart and it shouldn't have anything to do with your router. If anyone else runs into this problem try resetting the network settings on your phone. All the steps to do this can be found here http://tekshot5.com/ios-5-1-imessage-fix/
Edit: Some of us don't have the option of resetting our DNS servers. I run my own for example for caching purposes. -
I have an iPhone 4, and iOs 5.1. Suddenly I cannot send or recieve SMS/text messages but iMessage is working - any help appreciated.
iOS 5 handles texts differently than previous versions. Resetting the network connections helps, but that didn't seem to solve your problem, and neitherdid the simple reset.
Try deleting old messages from the messages app, then after clearing up a lot, just do a simple restart of your phone. If you want to be extra sure, try resetting your network connections again. I had this same problem. Your last option would be a complete restore of the phone, but I don't think we'll have to go that far. -

How can I remove the 6.1 upadte so I can receive text messages again? I've tried deactivating Icloud; setting up a new account not shared w/ anyone or any other devices and it's still not working. HELP!!

IMessage not working even after 'fix'
My iMessage on my iPhone 4 is not working. Phone is updated to most recent update. Sends iMessages to some people but not others and the people who I cannot send to also can't send to me, regardless of being on wifi or mobile network. I have tried the turn off imessage, reset network settings etc but still no improvement. Would be very helpful if anyone could give me some advice?
Macrumors posted a solution for this. I used it and it seems to have worked for me.
Here's what they said:
1. Turn off iMessage in Settings > Messages
2. Reset networking settings in Settings > General > Reset
3. Reenable iMessage in Settings > Messages
