  • IMessage not working with one single contact

My iPhone has stopped sending iMessages to one singular contact. Before today we have been using iMessage to communicate regularly. This is the only contact that iMessage does to not work with on my phone and on his he can iMessage me but I don't receive these messages. Also in group chats we can no longer communicate due to this issue.

    Did anyone fix this problem?
This just happened to me yesterday!  I have iOS 7.1, had no issues until yesterday!
I can iMessage my iMessage friends on my iPad with no problem, but the iPhone 5 randomlly decided yesterday that it would only iMessage selective people!
I've tried everthing I can find so far.

  • IMessage not working on multiple devices anymore

I have multiple devices - iPhone 4S, iPod 3G, iPad. All are running iOS5. All are set up for iMessage. In the past, any message sent or received on one device was replicated across the others. I could send an iMessage on my iPhone, then read the reply on the iPad and so on. Now it is device specific, can't do that anymore. Is this a change from Apple or do I need to fix something? Please advise, thanks.

    HI,
The About the Mac item looks like this.
This happens to be OS X 10.6.8
Click that and you get the Build Number
Click the Build Number and you ge the Serial Number
As FaceTime and now other iMessage connections work I doubt if your issue is the Serial Number being missing.
If one person is Off line it could be that their iPhone is Off (not on  any network and powered down).
Scenarios include the battery running out or not being on Wifi or 3G networks.

  • IMessage not working on one machine

    Dear Mac-using community,
I consider myself as having a decent knowledge of Mac products and their workings, but this has got me completely stuck. I have two mac machines (MBP and MacMini), an iPhone and an iPad. iMessage was working fine on all devices up to a couple of weeks ago. On the MacMini, all of a sudden iMessage stopped receiving and sending messages, and displaying the recipient's name in red, instead of the usual blue (clicking on the name, it says the user isn't registered with iMessage, and it says that for all users). It still works fine on all of the other three devices.
I have tried everything that I've found on the forums - resetting the iCloud password, the keychain, the pram, deleting various files from the user library folder. Logging out on other devices, even a clean installation of 10.9.3 (which is also on the other, working machine). There is no firewall, and another exact same model MacMini that my colleague uses over the same connection works absolutely fine!
It seems that the problem is almost tied in directly to my specific machine - is this possible? Any advice would be most appreciated, as I've already spent far too long trying to fix this.
    Thanks! Tom

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • IMessage not working with ONE contact after changing phone number

Ok.. I changed my phone number Friday night. (same device) Once I restarted my phone and programmed it (*228) everything was working fine except one contact with iMessage. Since Friday night just one contact will only go through as SMS message. My other imessage users are all going back and forth as blue. This person I am having the problem with is also sending and receiving imessages with other contacts, just to me it is going through as text as well. Any help? I've shut iMessage off and on a bunch of times, turned the phone on and off... nothing seems to be working.. Any advice would be great!

I have the same trouble with one of my contacts and I have been using my iPhone 4S and iPad (3rd generation) for a while. I hope we can get a solution.

  • IMessage not working on one contact

okay, so I was trying to use iMessage with my new friend and she has an iPhone too. but when I messaged her it turned into SMS. I checked my settings and my iMessage switch is on and I tried messaging with another friend and it was completely fine. I tried everything but it keeps sending it as an SMS. I have an Iphone 5s with the software 8.1.1.  Please help.

Can your friend message other people with iPhones without issue? If not, she needs to make sure iMessage is active on her phone.
If she can message other iPhone users through iMessage, delete the message conversation & start a new one and see if that helps.

  • IMessage not working for one iphone contact?

For one particular contact, I am unable to send messages through iMessage and they instead send as texts. Both of us have iPhones and have checked the settings. I reset my iMessage, and also restarted my phone but the messages continue to send as texts. Is there any way to fix this?

I had this problem, I fixed it by editing the mobile number in contacts. Just deleted the last digit and typed it back in. I thought the contact had iMessage turned off, and her go through settings but it was set correctly. It seems the early iOS 7 iMessage issues caused this issue in later version of iOS 7.1.x
I had two contacts I had to do this to.

  • IMessage not working for one recipient, but is for others

I recently restored my iPhone 4 from an iCloud backup (I accidentally deleted 2.5 years worth of messages from my fiancee that I didn't want to lose).  Now, I can use iMessage with everyone except for my fiancee.  I've tried several other people, and they receive iMessages, but for her it defaults to normal SMS messages.  In Settings, I've tried signing out of iMessage and back in, I've tried logging out of iCloud and deleting that data from my phone before logging back in, I even tried making a FaceTime call with my fiancee (which worked perfectly).  Any ideas?

Actually yes.  I was just coming back here to close this ticket, since I just got a message from her that she had accidentally turned it off.  At least it was a simple fix.  Thanks for the suggestion.

  • HT5538 Why is my iMessage not working with other email address just says verifying but nothing happens been a week, 4 devices only I

    Hey Mgpr,
There's an article that helps with troubleshooting steps for issues activating iMessage that I think is worth a look. See if any of the suggested steps work for you:

  • IMessage not working after iOS 5.1 upgrade! Feedback pls

iMessage not working after iOS 5.1 upgrade, anybody experiencing this as well? Feedback please......

You shouldn't have to hard restart and it shouldn't have anything to do with your router.  If anyone else runs into this problem try resetting the network settings on your phone.  All the steps to do this can be found here http://tekshot5.com/ios-5-1-imessage-fix/
Edit: Some of us don't have the option of resetting our DNS servers.  I run my own for example for caching purposes.
