  • Why does my iPhone 3gs keep crashing?

My iPhone 3GS keeps chucking me out of everything - apps, web and even typing a text!  Its infuriating, I just get to the end of typing a message and it just goes off and back to the "home" screen.  When I go back in to the text that I typed has gone!!!  If I am googling or on Facebook it does the same thing.
Has anyone else had this?  Any tips (apart from sledge hammer) would be gratefully received!!! Thanks!

Hi gdmacguy - I have done a full restore and it still does it... it constantly chucks me out of texting and using apps - its also stopped my iTunes from playing after about 8 mins which is really irritating when I am in the gym!!!
Do you have any other ideas of what I can do please?

  • IPhone 3gs keeps crashing when using camera app and Facebook

My iPhone 3Gs is on its last legs, has been for a while, but I can't afford to upgrade just yet.
It keeps switching off, screen fades to black, when I use both the camera app and Facebook. I then have to reboot. It's not a battery issue, as it happens regardless of whether there's 90% or 9% battery life left, but just seems to happen randomly.
Today, it crashed when I pressed the shutter 'button' to take a photo, yesterday it was while I was selecting a focus point. Really frustrating, as I use the camera a lot. Facebook crashes the phone randomly, too.
This morning, I hung up on a call, then the phone died.
It's running ios5 now but has been doing it for a few months on previous versions of ios, too.
I've tried restoring to factory settings, but that has done nothing.
Any help you can give, much appreciated, thanks!

  • Iphone 3GS keeps crashing and wont hang up after out & incoming calls after repairs

I have had my iphone 3GS back to vodafone after I could not make calls, kept saying call failed!. I did all the troubleshooting tips, was okay for a short time, then shortly started doing same thing.I took it back to the store and on that occasion the assistant took the phone out of the protective cover i always had it in  to replace the simcard in case it was this that was causing the problem ,then he dropped it onto the shops wooden floor and it bounced, he picked it up & went bright red & kept apologising , I then said if I have any more problems with it then I will come back & see him & he said yes. Shortly after I noticed the sim cover on top of phone was missing but i could see the simcard inside, so I returned to the store & informed them of this, i was advised by the earlier assistant 'Craig' that he thought that the sim tray was underneath the simcard which he then removed the simcard, then advised me he didn't want to go poking about in it in case it was inside and he would send the phone to be repaired & gave me a replacement phone until mine was back. I waited approx 2 weeks before receiving a call from Vodafone saying they would repair it if I payed over £100! as it was not covered under my insurance,  I informed them the assistant dropped the phone in store and then i noticed the problem & was then told they would investigate this and call back, 10 minutes later they called back to say it would be a free repair. Since the repair I have had nothing but trouble with the phone crashing when I access apps , sticking on the hangup screen with in & out going calls for approx 10 minutes or more, when I turn phone on the Apple logo stays on the screen for long periods off time. When I access my music the track will change part way through to another track & also sometimes refusing to charge. I am fed up with going back & forth to the store which is quite a distance from my home & the phone has more problems since it was ''dropped'' & then ''repaired'' & I am at a loss of what to do. I feel I have been treated unfairly and gone along with all Vodafone asked of me. Please could someone from Apple help me!!!

The steps you already took were the correct ones - reset, restore from backup, restore as new phone. You could always try them again, but a Restore with set up as new is the 'ulitmate' troubleshooter - if that doesn't correct the issue, it's usually time for a replacement phone. Unfortunately, you've learned a hard lesson there, although I don't see how Apple screwed you - it's no secret that the iPhone warranty is valid only in the country of original purchase (as a little research on your part would have shown).
See how much money you saved with your eBay purchase? Next time buy the phone from Apple or an authorized UK carrier.

  • Iphone 3gs keeps crashing?

hiya, got a second hand iphone 3gs a few weeks ago on Vodafone. It was fine for the first week or two, then i added all my apps and music and it started crashing (going to black screen then rebooting itself), it wasn't doing it much at first but my phone has become pretty much unsuable now crashing all the time. Then when you turn it back on again and its rebooting it crashes again and the screen goes completely black. I have the most up to date update i think.
what should i do with it?

Email account settings are included with your iPhone's backup along with a significant amount of other data. If there is a problem with your iPhone's backup (there is no way to determine this until after restoring from your iPhone's backup), restoring from the backup will also restore the problem.
Try deleting and recreating all email accounts on your iPhone. If no change after doing so, try restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.

  • My iphone 3gs keeps crashing on the new 5.1 software

    Hi
I recently upgraded my Iphone 3GS 16GB to the new 5.1 software. What a mistake. I have had it crash countless times on me.
I have updated itunes on my computer and all my apps are up to date. If I go to start up any app it just goes, even the apple apps. I have now restored the phone twice and its still crashing...any suggestions?

As in when it is not plugged into power e.g. Usb or power it cuts out and when its not plugged in it lasts only until it has to perform some type of action.
For example a text message came through this morning and then it cut out. All my apps are from the app store.

  • IPhone 5s keeps crashing!! Help?

I have been minding my own business playing on apps and having fun and all of the sudden I get a blue screen and white yellow black screens start to appear. After apples latest update which was supposed to fix this, only gave this bug to me. I need someone to tell me how to fix this problem other than getting a replacement. I have already tried a couple of tricks that have failed to work.
Note: the crashing bug happens most commonly when plugged in to my charger.

Hey sorry I cant exactly help but I'm having the same EXACT issue. I have the 5s also. My imessage won't even work! My regular SMS texts won't send either and I've tried to turn it off and turn it back on..Its so irritating! It definitely has to be the update. Its aggravating because you can't redownload anything because it says your storage is full when it's not...

  • ITunes on my iPhone 4S keeps crashing.. Help?

Whenever I go into the iTunes on my iPhone and view the top music chart.. It would crash.. This happened for about 5 times.. Can someone help me?

Try restarting your iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at this same time until you see the Apple logo, then give it a try.  Make sure you have a strong connection to the network.

  • New iPhone 5 keeps crashing, help?

Okay, so I've just upgraded from my very solid 3GS (a bit slow albiet) to the brand new iPhone 5 which I'm very pleased with, I love it, especially since I've just got retina, Siri and all the rest of the stuff the 4+4S owners enjoyed. There is just a single complaint, the iPhone 5 keeps crashing, every couple of hours I will be doing something, browsing reddit, in messages, it doesn't seem to matter and it will bring strange lines down the screen and restart (I'm guessing it's some kind of kernal panic?) and sometimes springboard will just restart.
Is there any way I can find out what's going on, logs of some kind? Or is that all locked away safe from inexperianced users?
When it came yesterday, it was crashing every few minutes, I plugged it into iTunes on my Windows PC and started a restore, but my ENITRE PC froze up, which it hasn't done in months, is this a coincidence or is because the iPhone is plugged in? (communication issues with the phone perhaps?) - anyway, I did the restore and it is now crashing far less frequantly, every few hours as I said, but I could do to know why? I can't see it being a hardware issue, because it seems like iOS and springboard are just crashing out every so often....
EDIT: It's just crashed twice in the last 20 minutes, once when I opened Siri from the lock screen, and once while I was on the springboard... what on earth is going on??

Springboard just crashed... not sure how much of this is just verbose output... and how much means something, it's a long one (Sorry!) - Would it be worth reinstalling iOS again?

  • Why does my iPhone 3GS keep powering off into a black screen with what looks like a barcode displayed?

My iPhone 3GS keeps powering off at any point when between 5 and 50% battery remains.
I could be in the middle of texting, receiving a call or using an app when all of a sudden the screen goes black and very faint randomly distributed lines are visible from the top of the screen to the bottom. The display looks a little like a barcode. I am then unable to restart the phone without plugging it into a power supply. I've looked on the Internet and cannot find a similair case.
It is so frustrating and I am continually thinking it will crash at any point.
Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

When the "white symbol" is the white Apple logo, it is starting up....
    Can take some time.

  • My iphone 5 keeps crashing all the time and has a delay of about 3 seconds when doing anything on it i did a factory restore on it but it didnt fix the problem

my iphone 5 keeps crashing all the time and has a delay of about 3 seconds when doing anything on it i did a factory restore on it but it didnt fix the problem i went to optus to see if they could help me as my phone is through them but they knew nothing i need help please my phone is only 8 months old

Plug the device into a wall outlet and leave it for about 20 minutes. If it has not powered on at that point try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for about 15 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

I have this excact problem too, Deleting the the app and then reinstalling it won't delete your photos as they are stored on facebooks servers. You will just have to remember you username and password to sign in again. Ever since Facbook bought instagram i have had this problem on my 4S too.

  • My iPhone 3GS keeps turning itself off all the time for no reason every time I put it on silent or just get a Facebook message I have a broken sleep/power button anyone know how to fix this problem?

My iPhone 3GS keeps turning itself off all the time the power/sleep button dosent work so it's quiet annoying having to plug it in all the time dose anyone have a fix for this?

The "fix" is to get the phone repaired.  There's no magic solution for a broken phone.
Bring your phone ant $149 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement, or find a 3rd party repair shop near you.

  • Mac mini running 10.8.2 and iPhoto keeps crashing on launch...

    Hello-
I have the latest mac mini running 10.8.2 and iPhoto keeps crashing upon launch.  I have done a complete uninstall and re-install on 3 different occasions, yet the issue still persists.  Any ideas on what's causing this.....and most importantly how I can fix the issue?!?
    Than you.

    Hello,
I wonder if it's a variation of this, of which I've seen many different symptoms...
    Resolution
Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
    Additional Information
This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
        1.    Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.  Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
        2.    Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.
