IMessage only sends to email contacts (iPad)

Can anyone confirm whether the iPad can send to only those with registered email addresses rather than mobile numbers? Reason I ask is that I can send from iPhone to iPhone so I know their numbers are registered however if I try and send from the iPad it says number is not registered which is obviously wrong. It does work if I send to the registered email address though!

Solved!... I think. After doing all the above and still struggling, I got my girlfriend to delete the conversation on her 4S, and made her create a new message aimed at my @me.com and not my mobile number. I also deleted my conversations. Either doing this or restarting my iPad 2 seems to have solved the problem and now messages automatically appear on both devices! Hope this helps.

Someone is probably sending spam with your address forged on the To: line. Could be one of your old contacts with a Windows machine has a virus that's doing it. It's also possible your e-mail account has been hacked, though I'd think such a hacker would be a bit more purposeful.

There's a functional workaround to send Group emails that takes some setup, and a copy-paste. But it's easier than any one-by-one solution cooked up without a 3rd-party app. Here's the way:
STEP ONE:
Go to Settings>General>Keyboard-->Shortcuts
Add a new Shortcut by typing in the full email addresses in the "Phrase" field, separated by comma and space; type in the few letters representing this "Phrase" in the "Shortcut" field.
STEP TWO:
In the email app, IN THE BODY OF THE EMAIL, type in the letter for the Shortcut and space. Then Highlight-->Copy this text and paste it into the To: Field. (Obviously: Delete this text in email body; and use CC: or BCC: fields as desired.)
Regrettably, you CANNOT just type the Shortcut in the address fields as it gets lobbed into one address.
This "No Group Email Functionality" rates a #FAIL by Apple. One of the few.

IMessage not sending to one contact?

My iMessage has been fine for ages, and has just suddenly stopped sending to one contact in the middle of a conversation, but is still sending to other contacts. I've turned iMessage off and on, restarted my iPod and changed my wifi code but nothing has worked? Help!

I receive replies on iPhone 5 only, not on iPad which is the device causing problems for this one contact only. The contact is using an iPhone 4, but so are other contacts with whom I have no problems. This problem started after March 17.

Messages thru my email. I have tried to fix this by going to Settings > messaging > recieved at> and my phone number pops up along with my email. It will let me click on my email, but my phone number is greyed out and I can't click on it.i have also tried caller id, which still didn't fix the problem.
Trying to kill two birds with one stone, my phone also says that I have no storage left. I literally have 3 apps installed on my phone. Facebook, Twitter, and instagram. I only have 52 photos, 0 videos, and about 115 songs. I know for a fact that I shouldn't be out of storage, because I have friends with the same iPhone 4, that have 400 pictures, a thousand songs, and page after page of apps. I want to know what is taking up all of the storage, and what can I do to get rid of it. Thank you in advance

Thanks. So matters haven't changed. Ipad and iohone systems still not make use of the groups created in OSX Contacts, although one can "see" the groups synced through iCloud. They just do not function as real distribution lists in Mail.
With the Mailshot app, one creates Mailshot groups with Mailshot group name. It's as smooth as a work around can get.
Silly that Apple iOS folks never got around to connecting the contact groups now listed in iOS Contacts through iCloud syncing to also be fully functional in iOS Mail for the purpose of group emailing.

IMessage only sending SMS?!

I have a problem. For some reason my Mac only sends SMS messages and not iMessages. iMessages always pop up with "Not delivered". Any help?!

Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are not able to send sms messages. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.

TS3899 Why can't I send my emails? IPad tries to send but is unsuccessful. Message are stuck in "unsent" box.

I am new at this. I have an iPad one. About 2 months ago it stopped being able to send my messages. It tries every time I open my email account, but is unsuccessful, so the messages remain in the "unsent" box. Any ideas out. There? Thanks.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

iMessages are sending from my email account to other iPhones, why?

Your Apple ID can be used an alternative means of "caller ID". This is so people with iPads or iPod touches (which lack a telephone number) may still iMessage and use FaceTime with their Apple ID, aka their emails.
To change your "caller ID", go into the settings on to ur iPhone, then Messages. You should see a "receive at" option, click it; from there you should see both your phone number and email(Apple ID) where you can be reached at. At the bottom, click the "caller ID" option and make sure the checkmark is on your phone number. If it is already, you should be able to have your phone recognize your phone number as your default caller ID by toggling iMessage on and off.

TS3899 When I try to send an email on iPad, it goes to outbox and stays there? I get a message that I have exceeded my output limit. I don't think this is accurate because I don't send that many messages. Maybe 30 a day. Please advise. Thanks

The message is something like, you have exceeded your limit on messages so your message will be stored in the outbox. I don't send more than 30 emails a day, and i use two other email addresses. What can I do?

Change the password on that e-mail account. It's possible that your account has been hacked/spoofed and spammers have used it to blast out junk, leaving you to 'pay the price'. If it's one where you can contact the company, contact them and ask them what's going on. (if this is g-mail, yahoo, hotmail, don't bother, there's no way to contact any sort of support)

Can Contacts be set to display only enterprise (work) email contacts upon first opening?

I have installed my personal Yahoo Mail on my 9810 Torch; as a result, the Contacts list now includes a mix of work and personal when first pulled up. I can then change it to display only one of my contacts lists (work or personal), but that requires several thumb fiddles every time. Is there a way to have the Contacts display default to only my work contacts displayed upon opening?

Thanks for your question regarding the contacts on your BlackBerry® Torch™ 9810 smartphone.
By design, the BlackBerry will display all contacts when you launch the Address Book.
You would need to use the Filter option to view your personal separately from your work contacts.
