IMessage photo issue

So recently I cannot receive photos through iMessage from other iPhone users. Those same iphone users can send between each other just fine. I can receive it if they send as text but iMessage fails repeatedly. Tried the basics like turning it off and on in my iPhone settings. I have not erased the phone yet and would hope there is a better solution than that.  Space on the phone doesn't appear to be the issue as I have at least 2 GB free.
I wondered if this had anything to do with servers at Apple as it's only been since iOS 8 beta went live this week. I have two Macs which also receive the messages but I've turned those off to trouble shoot. Up until yesterday they were fine.

Why does my ipad2 no longer receive photos on iMessage? Iphone works perfectly with iMessage photos. Ipad2 used to work fine. Is it an ios8 issue? Help!

    Hello,
Where may I be able to contact and speak with a prepaid representative? Strictly through phone calls? (I am at work 12 hours a day)
And I apologize for posting in the wrong area - I saw Apple support so I went here.
I'm almost certain my phone is the problem. I have gone through resetting the network settings a dozen times on my phone, even did it on my dad's. Now my texts are beginning to do the same when I text my fiance.
Resetting the network settings DOES work -- the problem is it will work for a day or two or for only a few hours - then I'll have to do it all over again.

  • IMessage photos keep disappearing

I'm finding that my iMessage photos keep disappearing. Both my sent and received photos turn into an image of a question mark. How do I prevent this from happening? Restarting my iPhone / closing out completely of messages does absolutely nothing.
    Any ideas? Thank you.

    Hey tmgater,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues sending pictures via iMessage. A quick troubleshooting step for this symptom is to turn off iMessage, power cycle your device, then re-enable it. For additional troubleshooting information, check out the following resource:

  • IPod Classic: Photos Issue: Photos on iPod Show Black Screen - Replicated!

Issue / My Solution related to format = PC / Windows
*FINALLY! I've replicated the issue where some random pictures in iPod photos show as a thumbnail, DON'T show when clicked with center button (instead a nice friendly black screen is shown) but DO show when you click the center button again to start Slide Show.*
Firstly, I'll start by saying that this was one of 4-5 issues that caused me to go to my local Apple store today & get my SECOND replacement (3rd iPod Classic; Black; 160 GB). It made me laugh when the technicians told me the truth; since Apple never preps even their own people for new products to possibly get trained on so that maybe they're more technically knowledgeable then their consumers when they go on sale, this store's approach has typically been 'Problem with a 6th Generation? Here's a new one'.
It's been a quick & easy way to satisfy customers while getting them no where, but they go home thinking their new unit will work, when in reality it was never a hardware issue.
Anyways, I exchanged 2 x 160 GB & 1 x 80 GB tonight for many of the same reasons, truthfully because I felt I'm due new units after the amount of times I've reimaged (restored) each by restoring all versions of the firmware software.
Many of you have experienced the photo issue I mentioned above before going off on my tangent, many of you may not have (yet).
Well, I'm 1,000% that I replicated this one:
*When restoring one of the iPods replaced, I conveniently noticed that the pictures which showed up blank on my iPod had illegal characters in their Windows Filenames.*
*These characters can include, but are not limited to:*
    *apostrophe ('); comma (,); period (.)*
*Again, the characters above are the only ones I've identified so far; granted that it should not ultimately be like this; the iPod should accept filenames containing these characters & if it can't or it's too hard for it to accept them, iTunes should display a warning to the end user to change the filenames with illegal characters.*
In conclusion, I'm about to unwrap my new 160 GB & sync it. I will avoid & hold off with the 1.0.2 update for as long as possible in hopes that a 1.0.3 comes out soon; especially since the only noticeable difference it made for me was a faster & more responsive & sturdy Cover Flow (don't even use anyways) + shuts off in my JBL Dock at work (replicated as a bug in 1.0.2; workaround: use PLAY, PAUSE & other controls on the unit itself, not with the dock or remote control on the dock.)
I learned my lesson the hard way & will definitely wait a few days until 1.0.3 is released to see how it really is by feedback posted here in this forum. For all you newbies, this is the best advice I can offer; don't bank on 1 or 2 posts, read a bunch. When you start seeing a pattern of problems, you know something can't be right. It's funny how you look at the post history of these updates (1.0.1 & 1.0.2 & you see all those who jumped to install post only the nicest things & the great enhancements they see, until a day later they're hit with the negatives of that build.
_*+--> Truth is,_ I can't believe Apple has gotten away without releasing 1.0.3 by now.+*
*+If this keeps up, I hate to say it, but their ratings will definitely go down the tubes (not being negative, just a realist).+*
    Any thoughts?

I don't think it's illegal file names. I've noticed that the file takes a while to "load" even when after you see the thumbnail in the main screen. A few back and forths and hearing the hard drive spinning finally confirmed that it would take a while for the pic to show up...extremely annoying, but a hard drive type issue methinks. Photos that show up once, don't show up again or take forever to do so and vice versa.
Not sure how this affects firmware as I'm not techy (I'm jazzy :)).
I'm going to let all my photos "fully load", and then try it again.
    I tried your method on 3 sixth generations with this issue (2 x 80gb & 1 x 160gb). I let them sit for 12 minutes; no picture.
Changed filename to remove a comma found in the names; then I sync it again & ALL BETTER.

  • HT1937 if you delete icloud off of your iphone, will the ipad that shares the account lose all imessages, photos etc?

If you delete icloud off of your iphone, will the ipad that shares the same account lose all imessages, photos, etc?

    No.
Just delete the iCloud entry --  do not do the deletion from the content-bearing apps (Photos, Messages, etc.).
Delete from Settings > iCloud only.

  • Imessage Photo Problems

I received an imessage photo yesterday, and it only let me see it from the notification on my lock screen. As soon as I went to look at it in my imessages, it did not appear. Then, it popped up as a grey box with a question mark saying UNKNOWN. Why is this? And how can I get that photo back?

You might get more information from the, "More Like This," area if you started calling it "Messages" instead of "iMessages." There is no such thing as, "iMessages."

  • Imessage photos not working can send text

    Hello,
I have an ipad 2 which I have mainly for work. It was worked great but today I noticed I can no longer send photos via imessanger. I have looked through the forums and no solutions. I have tried killing all tasks, restarting, removing contacts and adding again, removing my imessage account and reactivating.  The photo says sending at the top and then says the message was delievered but my co workers do not get the message. I have had them try restarting there ipads and still nothing. I really don't want to wipe it and start over again. if you have had this issue please feel free to post.

    Hello Lina D,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are not recieving MMS messages. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • IMessage photo messages not working?

I have an iPhone 4 on iOs 6.1.2 through Net10, for about the past two weeks I haven't been able to send photo messages throught iMessage, well they say they were "Delivered" but my friend in the uk hasn't received them (it worked previously and they send fine through my iPod touch.) I've toggled imessage off and on, rebooted, reset my network settings, messed around with the apn settings (for 3 hours) sending myself a photo from my iPods to my iphone works but sending it from my iphone to my iPod doesn't work. Does anyone have a fix for this or having the same issue?

    Hello Caitlin,
Since you have restarted, toggled iMessages, and reset your network settings, the next thing I would recommend is to backup your iPhone to iTunes restore it, and set it up as new. If it works then restore from the backup and try again to help isolate the issue further.

  • IMessage photos won't resize...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems prior to ios 7 when I would copy and paste a photo from somewhere on the internet, iMessage would always resize the photo so you could see the full picture.....but now it seems in ios 7, that most of the times when I copy and paste a picture into a message, it tries to use the full resolution, and won't resize to fit the little message window.  Anyone else notice this?  It's very annoying and I hope it can be addressed in a patch at some point.

no one else is having this issue or concern?

  • IMessage photos stopped sending to one contact.

I have an iPhone 5 and the recipient a 4.  Photos and voice recordings have been sending fine in iMessage for a while and all of a sudden in the past three days they are not sending.  Regular iMessages (without pics or voicerecordings) send fine but not with pics or recordings.  I have to send those as a text message not iMessage.
I'm able to send pics and recordings in iMessage to other contacts just fine but not one specific contact.  This also happened to another contact a while back.  What's going on with these people?
    Thank you!
    Megan

    Hello MJ in Oakland,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Since you are having an issue with just iMessage, please follow the troubleshooting below in order:
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.

  • IMessage photo failure

When in the photo app on my ipad2, and I select a photo, then touch the action arrow at the top to reveal various options like, email photo, use as wallpaper, etc, when I select the message option, the photo opens up the iMessage page as normal, I see the photo there ready to be sent, but every time, with any photo, it fails and says not delivered.
If anyone has any idea why this happens, I'd be very grateful if you could let me know.
    Thanks.

This seems to be an issue I have encountred a lot on the iphone but so far not on the ipad. I could not work out if it was an IiS issue or a carrier issue as my ipad & iphone are on different carriers (three & Vodafone rewpectively). I have found that turning the phone off and on seems to correct the problem and also have just discovered that sending an SMS to a non iOS seems to wake it up.   Either way, it is far from ieal

  • Jabber for windows 9.7 photo issue

    Hello,
I'm facing an issue with corporate photos on Jabber version 9.7. Before, with version 9.2 i had the same problem but after add an entry on the file jabber-config.xml the corporate photos were already shown.
What can be the cause for this behaviour with version 9.7?

    Hi Amit,
Hope you're doing well. Guess the problem is solved. We installed this new version 9.7 of jabber on a machine with Windows XP OS. After reviewing the Cisco Jabber for Windows 9.7 Release Notes I noticed that the only available Operating Systems for jabber 9.7 are:
Operating System Support Cisco Jabber for Windows 9.7 supports the following operating systems:
    •Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit)
•Windows 8 (32 bit and 64 bit). Note: Metro Interface and Windows 8 RT are not supported.
•Windows 8.1 (32 bit and 64 bit). Note: MediaNet (including deskphone video feature) does not currently support Windows 8.1

  • I'm having issues with iMessage. It works fine on wifi and I receive messages as iMessage without issue in network or wifi. However as I send a message it starts as iMessage then says not delivered. Then sends as SMS since I have it enabled.

iMessage works on wifi without issue. However I receive messages on network but can't send. I send a message it starts sending as iMessage ten says it can't send. Then starts to send as SMS since it's enabled. I have reset network sertings, updated to ios7, etc and done about 3 othe suggested in order resets to get it to work and it still hasn't started working when I'm not on wifi. Any suggestions?
It's a iPhone 4S. I have two iPhones. One setup to receive iMessage just to its phone number. Therapeutic to receive to its phone and email. I wouldn't think that would be the issue as all 3 are separate. Bone the same going to both phones.
    Thanks for the help!!!
