Imessage Problem! Going viral

Hello everyone!
The is the first time for me but I think come across an almost jawdropping issue with iMessage!
I work for one of the UK mobile companies and within my role I manage business accounts. As part of that role we have just upgraded 200 business users to the new iPhone 4S.
So the users were not having to go through the 5 - 10 minute process of turning the device on and going through the boring initial activation process myself and a colluage manually activated each of the devices (when I say activated just skipping through the first few screen until it boots up the device. We didt put any apple user details in obviously (Neither the users, a dummy one nor are own) it was just an exersize in clicking the lanuguge settings, and the next few screens on the setup section for IOS 5 that you get with the Iphone 4S)
Here is the massive issue we have come across!
To activate the device away from itunes you need a live sim card, so we used my sim card litrially until the the device went through the basic set up and then we moved onto the next device.
The day comes to hand out devices to the 200 business users. We put the users current sim card in the new device and away they go to enjoy the new iPhone 4S!
Sounds perfect!
Until......
A few hours in we starting getting people coming back advising they were getting messages from strange numbers. It turns out that these users......100's of them were getting messages that had been sent to me by my friends over what we assume is iMessanger!
Not only was this personally very distressing for me, really unprofessional, me and my team were just totally at a loss and in the dark about how to fix this.
In the end I had to send a message to every friend I have advising them to stop sending me messages! The issue is only via imessage but the idea that someone else can recieve my messages just because my sim card was in that device for a few seconds is just astonishing!
Just to be clear at no point were any of my apple details ever logged onto any of these new devices. My sim card was maybe inserter for 30 second maybe on a few occasions upto 2-3 minutes.
I've googled like crazy and this iMessage is known but I dont think its ever happen on the scale I'm expering!
I'm desperate for some help and advise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tim,
Your totally right, in hindsight it was an error and one that's causing some pain ;o(
Form a techincal perspective we use random sim cards to pre active devices all the time, especially on Blackberrys. My sim must of been in 1000's of devices over the last few years.
My techincal guys advised they have never come across this and clearly this is a fatal issue that Apple must be concerned with. From a business security perspective this is mind boggoling!
I'd read that the erase content setting is an option, but its such a massive step top take on a business project.
I was kinda hopeing I could do something on my end to remove devices from my Imessage setup / account?
Thanks for your input!

  • How can I disable iMessages from going to my iMac?

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion. Since then, iMessages won't be delivered to my iPhone. They always get delivered to my iMac. This is especially annoying because I'm not home most of the day and texting is a primary means of communications, particularly with my better half.
I have quit Messages on my desktop, but iMessages still get delivered to Messages on the desktop. I took my desktop offline (no Internet connectivity), and iMessages just get queued in the cloud somewhere until I get home and bring my desktop online again. Nothing but regular text messages go to my iPhone. I have even disabled my Apple account in Messages on the desktop, but iMessages are still being delivered there. I never had this problem prior to Mountain Lion.
My better half, also with an iMac and iPhone, doesn't have any of these problems. I have verified that all the settings are the same between his and my desktops and iPhones. But I still have the problem. I don't use Messages on my dekstop and have no interest in receiving messages there.
Is there a way that I can disable iMessages from going to my desktop or otherwise limit iMessages to only my iPhone? Please help!

OK, problem solved. I think the issue is that I was a .mac account holder turned MobileMe turned iCloud (and still getting screwed over apparently). My Apple ID is @mac.com, but my email address is @me.com when Apple forced us all over. Messages on my desktop was set up with my mac.com Apple ID, while Messages on my phone was set up with my me.com email address. I went into appleid.apple.com and merged my primary email address and Apple ID to the mac.com address. I logged out of Messages on both the desktop and phone, logged back in with my Apple ID, and then had to delete the conversations from both my and my other half's iPhones.
Interestingly, it took about five minutes for both phones to delete the conversations, and the phones were completely unresponsive during this time. After that, I sent a text (iMessage) from my other half's phone to mine, and voila! It works. Apparently @mac.com does not equal @me.com... Apple sees them separately. What a nightmare, but I'm glad it's working now.

  • IMessage problem - Cannot get it to work

iMessage problem - I cannot get iMessage to sync. I have a iPhone 4 and iPad 2 both on iOS 5. everything else works fine. I cannot get the iMessage to sync. Both have the same @me id. if I try to add another email I get "iMessage Activation Unable to veryify email because it is already in use." Going crazy for 2 days any ideas?

I'm guessing, but the email address is used as a unique address, (it's easier with an iPhone as it has a phone number). This error could be saying that another iTunes userid has linked with that email address.  That is only possible if they verified it.
Do you have two AppleIDs / iTunes IDs in the house, but a family (shared) email address?
Simple solution then would be to create a new gmail email address and use that.

  • Constant iMessage Problems

I just purchased my second iPhone 5, the first one had freezing problems, and also the messaging problem this one has.
This current iPhone 5 has iMessaged checked and has my phone number +1 (954) *** - **** next to it. Looks like it should all work right? Wrong.
Basically, I can message everyone else but one contact with the iMessages. For now we can call them "p1".  I recently upgraded from and android Epic 4g, to this iPhone 5. Everyone else I message who has an iphone, will work properly and instantly. However, with p1, my messages will send as an iMessage and show as blue, but won't be "Delivered" and on the computer iMessages it says it was delievered. Well, this person can send me an iMessage back and I won't recieve it on the phone or the computer. Something is definately acting up here, and I am not quite sure.

I understand exactly what your saying. We both live within 2 miles of each other. I have 5 bars (Sprint) 3g, so my data is fine, sometimes I switch it to my home internet, which is very reliable and has around a 50/50 up/down speed. However, the person I am trying to message with the problem has AT&T. They also say that they have seen other people with Sprint have this problem. My question is, how would the carriers be relevent to iMessage, it goes through apple's DB before and its transmitted as data other than a text message.
Anyway, basically  its working now, but it seems when I pick up the phone to respond or something, it doesent work for a good 15 minutes or so, at which time I start bolting around the settings page and trying to move settings around to see if it will send.

A bit of repetition, mainly for the benefit of anyone else with the same issue. In your case the "for older video cards" version might be worth a try.
When cleaning folders you need to check both the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders, which you may well have done but didn't mention in the detail above.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if Apple Mobile Device Support won't install normally.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Problem going to one particular domain

I have a problem going to one particular domain, sanjoseca.gov. Any websites starting with http://www.sanjoseca.gov/ do not load. I've tried enptying the cache, but that doesn't work. I have no problem loading any other domain. I used to be able to access the city's sites without problem up to a couple of seeks ago, but since then, I can't load. I tried using Firefox, but can't with it, either. The city says they have no problems with their site and a city employee went onto the internet while I was talking with her and had no problem. Any suggestions?

    jwsapp-
That site loads fine for me.
I would quit Safari and delete all cookies having to do with that site --
or dump them all. Safari Prefs>Security>Cookies>Show All Cookies.
Also, make sure you've cleared your Safari Cache & History.
It also might be helpful to trash your icons folder:
    Your HOME (YourName) folder>Library>Safari>Icons.
    Restart Safari.
Do those & report back, OK.

  • Any problems going from Japanese to English version of LabView?

I would like to convert some vi's that were developed with the Japanese version of LV to English. Has anyone done this? Any tips?

LabVIEW was converted from English to Japanese. I do not think there would be an problems going the other way (provided you know Japanese). There are a couple of examples on the web for converting VIs between languages. Start you search on the advanced search page: www.ni.com >> support >> advanced search (it is at the bottom--click on the words).

  • Former iPhone User & Possible iMessage Problems - Textmessage Issue

I have been an iPhone user since the 2G, so about 10 years. In fact, everyone in my family uses iPhones. Even when I decided to change, my
family members remained devoted iPhone users. I loved my iPhone, but in time I realized Apple fostered this cool-kid-lunch-table culture, and I didn’t want to help promote that belief/behavior. The last straw for me was having to play Apple’s upgrade game where little to no innovation would occur.
I had been waiting for a new iPhone since my brand new iPhone 5 got stolen. This should be noted, I did not receive any support from Apple in
the aftermath of that incident. I repeatedly went to the Genius Bar near my apartment, but it was useless. I was told your “Lost” mode or whatever was impervious. (By the way, I spent the next couple of months telling at&t to stop sending me bills for calls being made to Russia on that iPhone.) I ended up using the 4S for almost two more years. Given Planned Obsolescence (to be fair, all the smart devices do that (in theory all consumer goods)), those two years were grim. (i.e. phone interviews for a job were next to impossible)
Thus, when I was eligible for an update, I got the Nokia Lumia 1020. Apple’s smart, it ended up hiring Ari Partinen, the guy who designed and help implement a huge selling point of the device, the 41 megapixel camera. Much like the 2G, theNokia Lumia 1020 has problems. Companies cannot (or in some instances, will not) innovate and (truly) improve their products without demand andcompetition. (i.e. The fourth (or the fifth) generation of Apple tablets started coming out with Pages after the very first Windows’ tablet came with MSOffice during the first year's use). Thus, I had to forgo the Nokia Lumia 1020 on the whole because the demand to improve the product is not there like it was for the 2G.
Given the circumstances, at&t suggested I get a different smartphone, I asked to go back to the iPhone, but I was told I could not due to
some sort of prevision in Apple’s contract. Something along the lines of – "You should have chosen the iPhone during your upgrade." I was randomly sent an Android  device, and told this is the best thing I’m getting. Take it or leave it.
To add, one of my problems will mostly likely rollover to the Android phone . For some unknown reason, I stopped receiving group texts (from iphone users), which is mostly likely an imessage problem. It is probably an imessage problem because I experienced it when I first switchedto a non-apple device (three months ago, with the Lumia 1020).
As such, I signed into my apple account on their support site, to unregister my devices (again). I (thought) deleted everything three months ago, but it looks like thestolen iPhone 5 is on there.
Is Apple literally FORCING me back to them (while simultaneously, barring me from accessing
    their product)?
At this point, I am too exhausted (and have to get back to my responsibilities), please figure something out with messages being sent via wifi (aka: imessage).
PS. Forgive the editing errors, formatting problems wouldn't allow me to resolve them. ....Apple, go listen to some Echosmith. The cool kid culture needs to be improved. You are capable of making the needed improvements.

  • Firefox in Windows. When I click on a link, Firefox will hang up with a rotating cursor. Problem goes away by moving mouse. This does not happen with IE.

Using Firefox 27.0, when I click on any link, a rotating cursor appears and continues to rotate. Moving the cursor will solve the problem. I have had this problem for several versions of Firefox, and I use auto updates.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
