  • HT5622 iMessage problems on macbook

Hi, since setting up my macbook for imessage im having problems sending imessage to people using email address, these email addresses are linked to my itunes account and have been for quite sometime, they work for about 10 mins then when i go to send a message i get a popup saying (persons name) NOT REGISTERED WITH IMESSAGE.
This is only since setting macbook up with imessage, as i have been communicating via iphone in the same method with no problems at all.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

iMessage strangeness - "not registered with iMessage."

  • Interesting iMessage Problem between Macbook Pro/iPad 1

I was recently forced into getting a Macbook Pro (I would have preferred an iMac if I had to buy a Mac at all) and everything has gone as well as can be expected (background: I build PCs and am a Linux user. I am proficient in Mac/Windows/Linux with my preference being Linux > Windows > Mac) except one thing:
The person I talk to the most with iMessage has an iPad 1 and about 90% of their messages appear NOT DELIVERED (red !) immediately when they try to send them.  I can send them messages, and they receive them.  I've had one single message fail in the way their messages fail to deliver, but had no other problem with messaging anyone else or receiving other messages.
    Any ideas?

  • Imessage problem on Macbook Air

I have a macbook air and I am trying to use my imessage and it doesn't work, a tab comes up and says,"the server encountered an error processing the registration. please try again later." I have tried it over and over again in the last week. HELP!

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Sign out of iMessage on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.
    Step 3
Restart your broadband device and your router, if different. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 4
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 5
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 7
    Select from the menu bar
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 8
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to find and delete all items with "iMessage" in the name. Log out and log back in.
    Step 9
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 10
Boot in safe mode and log in. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain models.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but didn't work when you booted out of safe mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 11
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 12
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 13
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support.

    Ok, nice.
Go to http://www.apple.com/support/contact/ and click on 'Get Started' then choose 'More Products & Services' next choose 'Apple ID' and now 'Other Peripherals' and at last 'The topic is not listed' and enter the text from your first picture. Normally you can select the text in a Dialog window and copy it (cmd-C) so you don't have to type it all…

  • IMessage order on MacBook Pro and problems with iPhone iMessage

    Hi,
I use my iMessage on my MacBook Pro and on my iPhone. In iMessages on my Mac I have it set to use two addresses, my phone number and my icloud email. I have the same on my phone.
When I receive a message it is ordered correctly on my phone with the most recent being shown last and the oldest I need to scroll to the top. But, on my MacBook when I open messages they seem to be ordered all over the place and I need to scroll up sometimes and I find that the most recent is sandwiched between two others in no real time order. Can anyone help me understand and correct this problem.
Also the other day, my iPhone imessage started playing up and randomly ordered the messages ut it has now reverted to the correct format. Please can someone help?
    Thanks
    Matt

Based on information in another answer I tried the following ...
After doing what blueno suggested I did have to reboot.  I then had to provide my password lots of times when I logged in.  That still didn't work so I logged out of my iCloud account in Message and logged back in, repaired, and it worked!
    This is what I did:
    1) Open Key Chain Access ( go to Applications>Utilities)
    2) Select Login at the top left side under Keychains
    3) Select All Items on the lower left side under Category
    4) Search for entries of IDS.
    5) Highlight and delete all entries that has IDS.
    6) Search for entries of FaceTime
    7) Highlight and delete all entries of FaceTime
    8) Search for entries of Messages (I also found entries containing Message (singular, not plural), but didn't delete these.)
    9) Highlight and delete all entries of Messages
    10) Reboot!
    11) Log back in and when requested log back into iCloud account (I got asked for the password multiple times)
    12) Log out of iCloud account in iMessage (Not sure if this is needed)
    13) Log back into iCloud account in iMessage.
    14) On iPhone in Settings/Messages/Text Message Forwarding turn off forwarding to my iMac.
    15) Turn Text Message Forwarding back on for my iMac (re-pairs and I entered the new number)
    16) Could send text messages from my iMac!!!!!
But it was short lived.  One message was sent using SMS (that should have gone through using iMessage and then back to the same error message.  So I am back to square one.

  • After updating my iPhone to iOS7 I no longer receive my imessages to my MacBook Air. Now my Imessage says it's my Apple email name and not my phone number. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If someone could help me out with this that would be great. I updated my iPhone to iOS7 on Wednesday September 18th, 2013. My messages always got sent to my iMessage on the MacBook before without any problems. But, eversince the update I don't get my texts sent to my computer anymore. I actually use the IMessage on my laptop to text sometimes and find it very useful. Anyway, my contact shows up on IMessage now as my email that I use for iCloud as well as my Apple Account. I just find it aggravating when I send a text from iMessage and it comes up as my email account. Is there any way to fix it so that my messages will get sent to my iMessage on my phone as well as the iMessage here on my macbook as well? Please help me. Thank you!

Do you mean when you say its locked to another carrier other then the one im using, that maybe my insurance sent me an iphone thats for a different network for example orange and not mine which is o2?

  • I am constantly having to reregister friends for iMessage on my MacBook Air.  It says to go to Messages on the iPhone sign out, then sign in, but no dice.

I constantly have co-workers phones show up as pink or red in my iMessaging on my macbook air.  It refers me back to my iPhone but I cannot get it to work where I can text or SMS friends that do not have an apple product.  Why is this so damned unstable?

    Hello BassoonPlayer,
Since you are using one of the the school's Macbooks, it is quite possible that the time and date are not properly set on the computer that you are using.  FaceTime will not work if you do not have the proper time zone set up for the location that you are in.  This past week, there were a two other Macbook users I've helped by simply telling them to set the Date/Time properly.  By the way, you described your problem very well, which makes it easier for us to help you.  Hope this solves your problem -- if not, post back and I can suggest other remedies.

  • HT4245 my iMessage on my macbook pro mountain lion won't work.

this is a very frustrating problem
my iMessage on my macbook pro mountain lion won't work.
it keeps on saying that ive entered the wrong passcode.
i even have my firewall turned off
    plz help

    Ok...
So I bought my MacBook Pro second hand, and it came with no installation discs, but I got Mountain Lion and had it installed and decided to back it up to a disc in case of this scenario. I followed some instructions to make a bootable disc and used it to install a fresh copy of Mountain Lion back when I first got it.
My problem is that without the boot partition of my MacBook's hard drive it doesn't seem to want to boot the disc.
Since I didn't want to buy a disc and I don't have another MacBook or know anyone near me that does, I decided to download a hackintosh iso and use it along with my other laptop to install iPC 10.5.6....this installed successfully and my hopes were that my MacBook would be able to boot it, so I reinstalled my MacBook's hard drive and to my surprise it booted, although not normally. Since it is hackintosh it has some rewritten boot features so it's not a true OSX, but it is fully functional. Since I finally had OSX booted I figured I was in the clear and would be able to install Mountain Lion from this, but then I found out that you have to have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or later in order to install Mountain Lion.
Now I'm stuck with a hactintosh version of Lion and still no way to get back to Mountain Lion, is there anything I can do now that I have a functional OSX installation?

In the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference, you can drag the display pictures to match the actual arrangement, drag the menu bar to the other display, or enable mirroring.

For some reason I cannot find where to attach a picture to an imessage on my MacBook Pro.  Can anyone tell me?

I figured it out.  Copy the picture from where you have it stored on your computer, and paste into the text line of the iMessage.  Simple!
