Imessage problems from iPhone to galaxy s4

I just switched from an iPhone to galaxy s4 for work. My friends and coworkers with iPhones will try to send me texts, but it still tries to send them as imessages so I am not receiving anything from them. I message is turned off on all my apple devices or changed to my email address. What should I do to be able to received messages on my galaxy from iPhones now?

You need to log in at icloud.com and remove your i-device.

  • Switched from iphone to galaxy - now not receiving texts from iphone users

Switched from iphone to galaxy for multiple reasons.  Still keeping my iPad and wanted to use my iphone for music.  Now I am not receiving texts, apparently imessages, from iphone users -  there is no notification either way that a message was not received.  So iphone users think I have received a text when I haven't.  This makes me angry with Apple as there have been medical issues in our family and I have not been receiving important communication.  I also have clients I have not received texts from.  My understanding is I will have to delete my iphone from my apple account completely, but then will not be able to use it at all for itunes or anything else.

If you still have the iPhone, go to Settings and turn off iMessage. If you don't have the phone or if that doesn't solve the problem, contact Apple Support and request that they deactivate iMessage. https://www.apple.com/support/appleid/contact/

  • Is iMessaging free from iPhone to iPhone on 3G?

Is iMessaging free from iPhone to iPhone on 3G? What about from a verizon iPhone 4s to an at&t iPhone 5 on 3G/4G?

Yes and no. You will not be charged for an SMS/MMS message, but it does use cellular data. As long as you don't overrun your monthly allowance, it won't cost you anything extra. It does incur data use, though, and data is not "free".

  • Transition from Iphone to Galaxy S4

I decided to leave apple and go with galaxy.   I have been having NOTHING but issues since I got the phone last night.    I went and deregistered my Iphone,  but I'm hearing that can take up to 30 days before I start receiving texts from  Iphone users.    The problem is both of my kids have Ipods that are asoociated with my apple ID and music.  Would I have to degregister these as well or just turn I message off?    I refuse to go to all of my contacts (most Iphone users) and inconvience them  by asking them to turn off their Imessage.    Is there a better way or is APPLE basically forcing me to forever use their products?

I've done a bit of research into this myself because I plan to go from the iPhone 4s to the Galaxy S5 when it's released and from that I've gathered so far, your Apple ID is tied to your phone number on your iPhone.  You must let Apple know that you no longer have an iPhone so your phone is no longer registered with their servers. There are a few different ways to do that, so I won't cover it here.  Additionally, if you have any other Apple devices tied to your Apple ID, you must turn iMessage OFF on those devices as well.  Finally, people with iPhones running iOS 7 need to enable the option to "send as SMS when iMessage not available" on their device.  This was enabled by default on iOS 6 and below so I'm not sure why it was changed in iOS 7.  That way, iMessage is still turned on and they can iMessage other iPhone users, but they will be able to send SMS texts as well.

  • IMessages Beta - from iPhone to iPhone number

iMessages for OSX is working well but I don't understand why an iMessage sent from an iPhone to my iPhone shows up on my phone using my phone number but does not show up on iMessage Beta on my Mac? If the iMessage goes to the iMessage server and then is pushed to my iPhone, why does it not push it to my Mac as well? I can initiate an iMessages from my Mac to my iPhone number, and then a reply in the same thread will go from my iPhone to the Mac - but it absolutely won't work when the iMessage is initiated from my iPhone to my Mac? I think it is a bug that simply does not link/push an iMessage to an iPhone number to the OSX iMessage app? Thanks

Actually I hope apple leaves it as is...Its not a an problem, but something I use all the time for example.. A iphone has a phone number associated with it. ipad, ipod and mac do not.. So on iphone you have two options of receiving messages... If they are sent to your iphone number or apple ID or you can set up the phone to receive messagees from both.. Ipad, ipod, and mac do not have a phone number assositaced with them since they are not a phones, so they only receive messages from apple ID... Not like in my household, we all have our own iphones but have one ipad.. So my phone is set up to receive all messages including those from apple ID,  but i do not want ipad to receive messages unless i specifically began a conversation on it as someone else could be part of one's conversation without wanting to be a participant by just using an ipad while I am texting with god knows who on my phone...
To resolve your issue, set up your phone to receive imessages on phone number (default and you can't change that) but also add your apple ID so you can recive messages sent to apple ID on your phone.. Now change your caller ID on the phone to apple ID, so everytime you send a message from the phone it will register as apple ID to other users.. Hence all your devices are in sync... The only issue you are having is if someone specificly begins a new conversation with you on a phone and selects your phone numbers instead of apple ID.. Then it will pop up just on your phone... however I belive your response should change it back to apple ID.. Not sure.. However most people with iOS devices usually scroll through their open conversations list instead of starting a new message from what I have seen, so you should be ok..

  • Switched from Iphone to Galaxy, Contacts with Iphone's can't message me

I've switched from the Iphone to the Galaxy S5, everyone in my Contacts list that still has an iphone, can not text me. I keep showing up as an imessage. My iphone has been sold back to Verizon and wiped. My Contacts have deleted me and reentered me, nothing seems to be working. Help

Text the word "stop" to 48369 from your new phone. This should deregister your number from Apples system. Restart your phone.
It should work now, but some iPhones may take a while longer before they will recognize your phone not being in Apple's system.

  • Texting from Iphone to Galaxy

I used to be able to text someone with a Galaxy 4 from my Iphone 4s and then last week it stopped working. It shows on my phone that the text is sent but they never recieve it.  Can anyone help?

    Hello Christina-
This began about ten days ago.  Prior to that we were always able to send
back and forth between each other for the last 5 months.  Prior to that the
Galaxy user did have an Iphone but he deactivated his account and
everything and we were able to communicate for five months.  I have tried
turning off Imessage as well, and the Galaxy user is still unable to
    recieve my messages.
    Thanks

  • Hi All, I have an Issue with iMessages working from iphone 4s but not from macbook air

Hi everyone, I'm new to MAC's but have had an iphone for a while, so much so I had an iphone 4 but got an iphone 4s, I gave my 4 to my dad, and after recantly buying a MBA tried to imessage the old man but his name turns red and will not allow me to  send a message, I can however imessage him from my phone, I have the same issue with two other friends, but I know Imessage works on my MBA as I have two other people it works with (On the side the group Imessage is so cool) we did have an issue with facetime not recognising him untill he switched it off and on from system prefrance on his iphone, not sure if this is related or if this is a MBA issue or iphone issue, but could do with some help as I'm an Apple convert and I'm now hoping to convert the old man who loves microsoft, I told him how 'Apple just work' and at the moment have egg on my face
Please help all surgestions greatlly reacived

When sending a message from Mountain Lion's Message program, you should be careful about the recipient's address.  When you send a message to your dad, you should send it to his iPhone's phone number.
Also, on your Mac's Messages > Preferences > Accounts, you should be logged in under your Apple ID (which is hopefully different from your dad's).
Enjoy your Apple gear!  Indeed, it does "just work".

  • Sync old iMessage conversations from iPhone to new iPad & Mac?

I have had my iPhone for a couple years now, and have accumulated a fairly large amount of iMessage conversations from various people. A few days ago, I purchased my first iPad and also updated my Mac to Mountain Lion. By doing so, I now have access to iMessage on three devices in total, whereas before I only had one.
I have managed to setup my devices so that all new iMessages I send and receive are being synced between them. However, is it possible to sync my old iMessage conversations from my iPhone back onto my iPad and Mac?
I would like to do so in order to keep a full record of the past conversations I have had with my contacts.
I have done a bit of research before posting, but the only related topics I found werehttps://discussions.apple.com/message/19095937 andhttps://discussions.apple.com/message/17818920. The former was left unresolved, whereas the latter describes a solution which I am unable to reproduce.
Could anyone shed some light on this for me?

    Hi,
For me this was very early on in my Mountain Lion days.
I would now say that you cannot sync iMessages from an iOS device that were sent before your linked any Apple ID with the iPhone Number or added the Mac to the use of the Apple ID.
At the point at which and Apple ID is used on both an iPad and the Mac version of Messages becomes it's "Start date"
The same can be said for adding an Apple ID to an iPhone and the Mac.
On the Mac all messages can be saved if you wish.
This are in the .ichat format which you can send to Mac  Buddies and then can open them and read them as if they were the chat (i.e they display as "chats').
There appears to be no way in iTunes to access the iMessages (or SMS ones) on the iPhone.
Someone who knows more about the iOS may be able to tell you if they are accessible another way.

  • Switched from iPhone to Galaxy S3 and now back to iPhone 5

I am having issues with imessage on the iphone. I can't sent imessages from my phone number but i can send them from my emails that are registered for imessage. How can I fix it to send from my phone number?

    Hello missyrocks14,
Signing out of your Apple ID in Settings -> Messages -> Send & Receive, then signing back in can help get your iPhone to send messages from your phone number.
To sign out of your Apple ID
Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out.
If you have difficulty activating FaceTime or iMessage

  • New address on IPHONE will not appear on MAC a sync problem from IPHONE to MAC

I am  having a sync problem but I don't believe many who are offering answers understand the issue.  I write/make/create a 'new' contact on my IPHONE 4 address book.  I wait for it to sync over air.  Yes, on my MAC and on my IPHONE I have it set up to sync over air.  That is what it says on the INFO tab on the IPHONE page of the Itunes when I connect the IPHONE to my MAC.
No, I will not turn off the over air sync, I do not want multiple duplicates of my addresses!
On my IPAD I have no problems, my notes sync, my address book syncs but it does not do it from Iphone to MAC???

    Hi denctanner,
I did read the post. I was simply explaining that Contacts does not sync with the OTA Sync function, it syncs via iCloud if you want to sync wirelessly....
The OTA Sync option on the Info page has nothing to do with the iCloud syncing of your Contacts....
Try deleting your iCloud account on your iPhone and signing on again. Once you have signed iCloud back on, make sure all the options you want checked are checked, and then try it again. (When you delete it, you will get a message that it will delete your Photo Stream and Document but don't worry, when you sign back on, they will come back).
    Cheers,

  • IMessage deleted from iPhone not deleted from iPad

I have my iMessages set up so they go to both my iPhone and my iPad and that's great. However, if I delete an iMessage from my iPhone, it does not get deleted from my iPad (and vice versa). Is there any way to set things up so my deletions also get synced? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Deactivate iMessage on your phone, then reactivate it.

  • Remove iMessage link from iPhone

    Hi,
I want to give my iPhone 3Gs to my mother. I do not want her to receive iMessages that were supposed to be send to me. Will it work to brake the link between iMessage me and the 3GS when I remove this telephone from my Support profile under: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do ?
    Thanks for help in advance.

No sure about support profile since I don't use it.
What you can do to stop iMessage going to the iPhone is
go to Settings > Messages > switch iMessage OFF and in Recieve At delete your Apple ID and Caller ID.
Also in Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
