IMessage send / receive number incorrect

I have recently bought iphone 5s and I am using iOS 7 and have updated to latest version. I have taken out a new contract therefore had a new number, I then had my number changed back to my original number. On iMessage settings under send and receive until today was showing my correct number that I carried over from previous  network however now it is showing the "temp number". I have contacted my provider and the number I am registered to is correct. Can someone please help with this?

Try this:
Settings > Messages > Send & Recieve > tap Apple ID and sign out
Settings > FaceTime > tap Apple ID and sign out
Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears (no data will be lost)
Sign back in to Messages & FaceTime.

  • Help with iPad Identifying Phone Numbers in iMessage Send & Receive Settings / iMessage Syncing Help - iOS 6 - iPhone - iPad

With iOS6, iPhone and iPad users will see that their Send & Receive iMessage settings have updated across their devices to be made available at both phone numbers and email addresses. You may have also seen alerts on one or more of your devices advising that another device is now using the same Apple ID/phone number for iMessage.
Being able to be reached on iMessage on both Apple ID and phone numbers across devices means that iMessage can keep the same thread and sync across devices.
Due to having 2 iPhones on different phone numbers running along side my iPad at one time, (whilst I was waiting for my phone number to be moved to a new provider), my iMessage settings on my iPad lost my phone number completely. I thought I would document the steps to recover this for anyone in the same boat.
    1. Check that you are signed in with the same iCloud Account on both iPad and iPhone.
    2. Turn off iMessage on your iPad from Settings > Messages.
    3. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. You should see your phone number and your iCloud email address in the 'Your can be reached by iMessage at:' list. Make sure both are ticked.
    4. At this point, I synced my iPhone with iTunes, then synced my iPad with iTunes.
    5. On your iPad, turn iMessage back on - your phone number should now show in the 'You can be reached by iMessage at:' list. Tick the phone number. You should receive an alert on your iPhone.
    This should resolve the issue.
With the above set up and with the iOS 6 updates, iMessage should now sync fine across devices however I have still found the most successful way to run iMessage is to always start new conversations from your Apple ID and to start new threads by addressing the first message to an Apple ID from an Apple ID.
To do this, go to Settings > iMessage > Send & Receive and tick your Apple ID in the 'Start new conversations from:' list, then start a new iMessage thread to the recipients Apple ID. This way, the thread will sync across iPad and iPhone. Note that a thread set up this way will not fall back on SMS, so you get a clean iMessage thread. This method also worked/works on iOS 5, as long as you send the first message of a new thread from an iPad (which can only send via Apple ID) to an Apple ID.
    Hopefully this helped someone!

ipad has no phone number, you use a same email address for both devices. and set it in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive

  • IMessage send/receive failure

Is anyone else having trouble sending and receiving iMessages? The problem started a few days ago for me. When I try to send an iMessage it looks like it's sending and the status bar up top looks as if it's just about finished loading, but it never actually completes the delivery. I tried re-starting my phone several times..no luck. My friends are telling me that they sent me multiple iMessages, but I don't see anything on my phone. Strange.

Yes, iMessage setting is turned on. If it cannot send as iMessage it's supposed to send as a text, but I found that I have to manually do this each time. I spoke with some friends and they are experiencing the same iMessage send/receive problem.

  • Why won't iMessage send/receive PICTURES through my iPad, iPhone, and MacPro on Wifi?

For the last 2 weeks or so, I haven't been able to send/receive images through the iMessage application on either of my iPad, iPhone 4S, or MacPro. I have tried different Wi-fi connections, I have deleted/re-added email addresses to which I can be reached at/send messages and tried sending different pictures...all unsuccessfully. I try sending them, they say "Delivered" for a moment and then switch to saying "Not Delivered" (in red). I have tried to confirm with other people if they receive the pictures I send, regardless of me seeing the "Not delivered" message, but they say that they didn't receive anything. I have only been able to send pictures once in the last 2 weeks. Can anyone help me with this?

  • No SMS or iMessages sending/receiving

I cannot send or receive SMS or iMessages except if they are in a group text. I've gone through all of my settings... don't know what to do. Maybe my iMessage app on my computer is throwing things off on my phone?

  • Ipod touch 3rd gen iMessage sending/receiving delays

I have been messaging my friend for a while and haven't had any known issues. Well yesterday an issue started occurring randomly. Messages will either not be received or sent.
For instance: I'll send a message but it will never say it has been delivered. It doesn't say "NOT DELIVERED".
And when this happens she can't send messages to my Ipod. Her messages will get the NOT DELIVERED error. She is using a iPhone 4.
Then sometime later The messages will be sent.
We seem to be able to text with out any issues via my regular phone, i just prefer not to use it as message on the iPod is easier and faster than my crappy old phone.
Is this issue related to my Wifi router? Or could it just be that her provider is having issues, even though we can text fine when I'm using my regular phone?
I'm using the latest iOS version.

There are many places in the trasmission/receving path that can result in slow/delayed delivery.

  • IMessage: Sender/Receiver 'Bubbles' Don't Alternate - All Blue in String

My wife and I have an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2 (Wi-Fi only) between the two of us. Both devices have iOS 5.0 or better and both are using the same Apple ID and iTunes account. Here's the problem: When I iMessage the iPhone from the iPad (or vice versa), my message displays as a blue bubble, on the right side, ON THE iPHONE I just sent to. If she replies to that iMessage, it shows up as a blue bubble on the right side on the iPad. In other words, our iMessage conversations all appear one-sided. There are no grey bubbles. It's just a string of blue bubbles along the right side.
However, to complicate this anomaly further, every once in a while one of our replies shows up as a grey 'reply' bubble. But then the very next reply ends up on the blue bubble side.
The conversation displays identically on both devices. The irriating thing about this anamoly, is the incoming message alarm doesn't sound because the device sees it as coming from itself.
    Any ideas?

Regarding the grey bubble, who knows.  You're using the iMessage app in a way it was not intended, so I can't comment on why it behaves like it does.
As far as the algorithm is concerned, the two devices are "owned" by the same person.  Say you have the iPad and Wifey has the iPhone and the wife tries to send a text to the iPad.  Apple ID doesn't care.  All it sees is a user trying to send a text to himself.
The reason you can use the same ID with two different devices is to keep the messages synced.  In my case, for example, I have an iPhone and an iPad.  When I respond to an iMessage message from another user, that response is synced to both devices.  It lets me pick up either device and keep the conversation going.
As I said before, if you want to have the messages display properly between the two devices, you need different IDs on each device.

  • IDoc receiver AEE: Error "Configuration for Sender/Receiver Partner Number/Port is incorrect"

    Hi all,
We are on PI 7.4 AEX SP 7. We are trying to get the following scenario working: Inhouse warehouse management system (JMS) --> PI --> ECC (IDoc)
Sender is configured as 3rd party technical system system with business system maintained in SLD
business system has logical system assigned in SLD
adapter specific identifiers show logical system in ID / NWDS
logical system is defined in receiver (ECC system)
partner profile is created in ecc for this very logical system (inbound parameters)
No mapping of EDI_DC40 node in ESB (complete node disabled)
no header mapping in ID / NWDS
receiver IDoc AEE adapter is configured to not enforce control record (Control Record in IDoc XML = Not Mandatory)
no Identifiers specified in receiver IDoc AEE adapter
My guts feeling is that this should work, however, it doesnt't. Failing with "The Configuration for Sender/Receiver Partner Number/Port is incorrect. Enter proper values in Sender/Receiver Component"
    Any thoughts are highly welcome.
    Cheers
    Jens

    Hi,
The error mentioned by you is not related to the port..but its related to the Application ...
IDoc 51 means idoc has been received in R/3 client and when it tries to process it ended in error..
Check with the functional consultant for the error you have received..

  • IMessage in iOS 8 won't send/receive from my mobile number, but will send/receive from my email

When I send a message in iMessage it will only send using my email address, but will not send using my cell number (Verizon). When I go to Settings>Messages>Send&Receive I see my cell number and my email address (Apple ID) but I cannot select my cell phone number. I am only able to select my email address. This is the same under "Start new conversations from:". I have both iMessage and send as SMS on. Because of this I am not able to send a text to anyone not using iMessage.  I am running the latest build of iOS 8 available, per the Software Update section in my settings. Any help is appreciated.

What I did to fix the problem is: Go to your contacts and create a contact for yourself. Make sure you enter your name, your phone number and your apple ID email address. Then go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > scroll down to CONTACTS then select "My Info" > select the contact for yourself. Hopefully this works for you!

  • How do I remove my phone number from iMessage so that I could only send/receive via email?

I Need to do this because my postpaid line has recently been disconnected and after updating to IOS8, I couldn't activate iMessage anymore. I know that everytime we active iMessage and Facetime the carrier sends an international text to Apple for activation; so I'd like to temporarily delete my mobile number (since it won't activate yet) and only send / receive via email - so I can still use iMessage.
I Couldn't tick on the number because its greyed out.
Hope someone can help me. Thanks.

  • Haven't been able to send/receive iMessages since upgrading from 4s to 6 plus

I bought iphone 6 plus 64G to upgrade from my iPhone 4S. I have not been able to send or receive iMessages to iPhone users in my contacts with my cell number. It always uses my email when I create a new iMessage and is able to send that way. I cannot receive iMessages from iPhones to my cell number. which is a huge problem. I have tried turning iMessages on and off and resetting my network and nothing seems to be working. How can I resolve the problem?

If you turn iMessage off and on, does it activate? If not, then see this troubleshooting support document. If you have difficulty activating FaceTime or iMessage - Apple Support
If it does activate, the go to Send & Receive and see if your phone number is listed there. It should be grayed out and checked.

  • How can I send/receive iMessages from my iPhone 5 on my MacBook Air?

When I first got my MacBook Air (January 2015), iMessages updated automatically upon sign in to display all of my text conversations from my iPhone 5. I also used to see incoming and missed phone calls by default. As of the beginning of March 2015 when I sign in, my MacBook Air does not sync messages from my iPhone at all and I have stopped receiving phone related notifications. Also my MacBook Air is sending all messages from my email address as opposed to my phone number.
I've looked at the Messages help guides for send and receive SMS and activated text forwarding for my MacBook using my iPhone but this still hasn't helped with me being able to see my phone call/text activity on my MacBook as I was able to prior to early March. The iOS is up to date on my MacBook and my iPhone. I've also checked my iCloud and Apple ID and both display my phone number as an eligible send/receive address.
Was there an update that changed a setting? I didn't have this trouble syncing messaging and phone when I set up my MacBook Air for the first time so I'm not sure what else to try. Someone help!

  • IMessage sending messages from email not phone number/not working

I have an iPhone 5s and my sister has an iPhone 5c. She told me that my phone was sending her imessages from my email. When I go to change it to my phone number only it has it as a grayed out (will not let me select it). I turned iMessages off and then turned it back on and it still wouldn't so I tried it one more time now I get a "waiting for activation..." under my iMessage switched on. I tried turning it off, hard resetting and then turning it back on but when I go to sign in it says "server couldnt not be reached. try again" and it says that each time i try to sign in.
I guess my questions are: 1) do the imessage servers go down? 2) how do i 'activate" my imessages so it doesnt say 'waiting for activation"? 3) how do i make my imessages come from my phone number and not my email?

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
    Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

  • IMessage sending My ID as email instead of phone number

I've been texting someone through Imeessage, and for a while, when they received my messages, it would show my phone number. Now, my ID comes up as my email address. I tried going onto the message settings, and tried selecting my phone number on the "Send & Receive" option. I tried removing the email, but it won't allow me to remove the email. Any ideas what is going on and how to fix it.

    Howdy Tylorplas20,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
To start troubleshooting this issue where iMessages are being sent from an email address rather than your phone number which is selected, please sign out of iMessage and then sign back in.
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
