IMessage status problem in 10.8

Just upgraded and everything seemed fine.  However, I just discovered that my iMessage status in the menu bar is 'Offline' and when I try to click 'Available' nothing happens.  In the iMessage app, the 'Messages>My Status' menu items are all dimmed.  I have confirmed that the correct me.com account information is listed in the preferences, and also that messages sent via my computer are synched with my iPhone.  However, nothing is coming in.
One more thing: there used to be a synch button in the menu bar, but is no longer there - is this normal?

HI,
In Messages Menu > Preferences > Accounts is the iMessages "Account" Enabled ?
The @me.com name is the one you have "registered" for iMessages ?  - It is also possible to use it as a Valid AIM  Screen Name which needs a separate entry as an AIM account in the Messages Preferences.
Everyone should also have a Bonjour account.
You may have other transferred from iChat.
The default is to have these show as one Buddy List
In this state the "Buddy list" can be set to have one Status but you may find that another of the collected Buddy lists is overriding this.
Go to Messages Menu > Preferences > General section.
Untick the item that gathers all the Accounts in to one Buddy list so that they show separately.
Go to the Status of each Buddy List and make sure it is what you want.
Also check the bottom of the Menu is not set to Make All Statuses the Same.
If these don't solve it there are other step we can take.
It is late where I am (see local post time) and it maybe a while before I can follow up.

I just downloaded the new OS X Mountain Lion, and my iMessages status won't change!! How do I fix this?

if you set up only iMessage account, you cannot change the status, because iMessage has no status.
You should set up another service (for example AIM) with status service. Initially I didn't understand this "issue" too, but it is correct.

  • IMessages status is stuck in offline

My iMessages status is stuck in offline. When I try to click "available" it doesn't change.

    Hi,
The Messages app may well be set to Off line if the Bonjour account is Not active and you only have the iMessages account and Bonjour.
The Status setting only refers to Buddy Lists (As in iChat).
The iMessages is either Enabled (and therefore Logged in and Active) or not.
Other than error messages telling you a iMessage cannot be sent there is no  way of knowing (well you do see "Delivered" and "Read" under sent messages).

  • IMessage Status

I live in United Arab Emirates. I just upgraded my MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion. For some odd reason, the iMessage status shows as 'inactive' in Messages.
How do I turn it on?
    Please advise.
    Hamza

I am signed in. However, the status of iMessage is "Inactive". I can receive messages from iPhone to my macbook pro but I cannot send.

  • IMessage Login Problems

    Hi,
Having real trouble with iMessage on the new OSX I downloaded.
Firstly, I can have conversations with folk, but my status is offline - when I try to chang it, the following messages appears: "Messages can't log in to [email protected] becuase your login ID pr password is incorrect."
Now, I have tried the email password, my Macbook login, and the iCloud one. Nothing works. They are all correct. What's going on? I recently changed the email password, though this was before I dowloaded OSX. Any thoughts?
Lastly, the d*mn iMessage photo! How can something so simple cause such problems? Tried everything and it's changed everywhere but on the message pop-up - where everyone can see the one in place that I don't want. Poor show.
    Thank folks,
                                  D.

You might get more information from the, "More Like This," area if you started calling it "Messages" instead of "iMessages." There is no such thing as, "iMessages."

  • PF status problem

    Dear All,
I create one AlV report but when i download  from ALV output data  to Exel , exel data is coming blank.
i copy stadard PF status and using in alv report.
All remaining button is properly working.
can you suggest me why exel data is coming blank.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Raju

Try downloading in other formats and see the result. If it's downloading in other formats, then the problem could be with the data in the ALV grid.

  • AFS - ATP "T" Status Problem

    Hi All,
We're having a problem with ATP checks ignoring stock assigned to status T - Temporarily assigned stock/requirements, and double-promising against any quantity that hasn't been yet allocated to R - Reserved or F - Fixed.
For example, batch 0001 has 400 pieces allocated in F status, and 100 pieces unallocated and in A - Available status. If we enter Order 1 for 100 and save, this stock correctly moves from A to T. If another Order 2 is entered however, we are able to put up to 100 on the order and it will allow us to save. If we put 101, 100 will promise, and 1 will reject... when all 101 should reject, since 100 are already promised to Order 1 and we have no stock in A.
I cannot find anywhere in configuration where this T status is now being ignored by ATP checks. Thanks if anyone can help!
    -J

    US,
I suspect you may be dealing with a different issue. We are simply changing the J0 rejection to a different rejection code that won't be considered for ATP again when rescheduling is ran, since J0 is hardcoded to always take part during re-ATP.
As you probably know, J0 is set by the system if there's no availability for the item. If you want items without availability to take part in MRP I propose you either setup replenishment lead times on your materials and have your availability checking rule consider RLT, or you should have future receipts to confirm against, e.g. planned orders, production orders, etc. If you don't have sizing information yet you could use SLH methid 2 functionality.
    I hope this was helpful.
    Thanks!

  • Yosemite and iOS iMessage Syncing Problem

I am SO frustrated. I've read forum after forum and CANNOT seem to set up text message forwarding. I've signed into just one apple id across all of the devices (@icloud.com), I've selected receive from and only had my email address selected. I've toggled the iMessage on and off on my phone (sometimes crashing iMessage - it says it's activating and then says it can't connect to iCloud). I've turned on BlueTooth and tried connecting my devices and then clicking "Enable Test Message Forwarding." Whatever I do, I CANNOT seem to get the activation code to pop up on my laptop. It just won't.
There is a SERIOUS bug in iMessage and this problem only started after I updated to Yosemite and iOS 8, on my new iPhone 5.
Before updating anything, my MacBook Air and my iPhone 4 were working together beautifully. After updating to Yosemite, suddenly I could receive messages on both devices, but they would show up unread on my phone even though I checked them on my laptop and vice versa and my replies would only show up on the device where the replies originated. When I switched to the other device, conversations appear one sided - I can only see the series of messages my friends sent me in the conversation on the other device (without my replies).
Today, I was furious because I texted someone from my phone while at work and then thought that I never heard from them. I went home to discover that their reply only went to my Macbook Air, which had been sitting at home, closed, on the kitchen table!
I thought I fixed it because one or two messages I sent from my iPhone showed up on my laptop when I used it later in the day. However, I have yet to see this successfully happen again.
    PLEASE FIX THIS BUG, APPLE.
    Kind regards,
    K

    Hi,
What I am understanding form your post may not be what you think you are telling me.
Nor does it quite match what I thought I had posted.  (post/message  is only as good as it is understood by the recipient)
On the iPhone in the iMessages setting remove all additional emails.
Remove the Apple ID you are using for iMessages
Then place in Airplane Mode (ON) which turns everything else Off effectively.
this will leave Messages with just the iPhone number listed when you go back to the settings.
Wait for the iPhone Number to Verify (re-register) with the servers.
    Apple IDs
I have an Apple ID I made years ago using an external email address from a Dial up provider.
At the start of iCloud I linked it to iCloud and received an @Me.com email ID either works in iTunes and logging in to the web page for iCloud.
    Later I also got an @icloud.com email/ID
Sending an email to @me.com or @iCloud.com gets to my Mail App that lists the @me.com variant.
Emails sent to the original email address do not come through the Apple servers.
iMessages treats each as a separate ID.
It is important that the Apple ID used on the Mac and the first one used as the Apple ID in Messages on the iPhone are the same - even if they are linked elsewhere.
(It can be different to the iCloud setting on each device)
when you add the Apple ID to the iPhone the mac should get the Pop ups to say what the iPhone is using.
Accepting them adds the iPhone number to the Send and Receive options in the Mac version (And th Start conversations from drop down).
At this point on the Mac you should have only two IDs active to Receive and Send (the Apple ID and the iPhone Number).
Text Forwarding should then be enabled on the iPhone, prompting the Mac version to show you the code, which then needs entering on the iPhone.
There are limits to some Model of Mac regarding Handoff and Airplay (my mid 2011 iMac will do Airplay between Macs but not with iOS devices).
I am not sure if there are limits to Text Forwarding though.
    Quote from Mac Help
Supported devices for Handoff, Instant Hotspot, Phone Calling, SMS, and AirDrop
    Handoff and Instant Hotspot
Supported by the following Mac models:
    MacBook Air (2012 or later)
    MacBook Pro (2012 or later)
    iMac (2012 or later)
    Mac mini (2012 or later)
    Mac Pro (late 2013)
Handoff and Instant Hotspot work with iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8 and the Lightning connector.
    Phone Calling and SMS
Requires iPhone with iOS 8 and a Mac with OS X Yosemite.  Requires activated carrier plan.
    AirDrop
AirDrop between OS X and iOS is supported by the following Mac models:
MacBook Air (2012 or later)..... (the list is longer here)
    I added the bold text.
I take it your iPhone does do SMS itself ?

  • IMessage/FaceTime problems

Hello, I am currently using iOS 7.0.3 on an iPhone 4S and last night I found the problem of my imessage and FaceTime not activating. Recently I just fixed the problem of iMessage not starting. Each time I try to activate iMessage or FaceTime, I get "iMessage activation, an error occurred during activation. Try again." And when I try to sign in it says"could not sign in, check your network connection and try again." Could someone please help me figure out what's going on?!?

  • Invitation Status problems

I have a few problems with the status of events within my calendars. Firstly, when I create a new event with another attendee, then according to the help document named "Understanding symbols in iCal", after the email invitation has been sent the status symbol should change as stated:
"A diagonal upward arrow means "sent."
A diagonal upward arrow appears in the attendees list in the Info drawer next to people who have been invited to an event but have not yet responded....."
However I don't see that change reflected, what I see is a gray line a little like a tilde "~" only less curvy. The email has definitely been sent at this point. This status symbol is not defined in the above mentioned help document. When the email is responded to by the recipient, then again according to the above support document, I should see a new symbol with one of the following meanings:
A diagonal downward arrow means "received."
    An "x" (RED) means "declined."
    A checkmark (GREEN) means "accepted."
A question mark (BLUE) means "tentative."
However, what I am then getting is a question mark, but it's a gray one, not Blue. The email response has come from an Outlook client which has provided the following .ics file contents (certain details deliberately obscured but are correct in the file):
    BEGIN:VCALENDAR
    PRODID:-//Microsoft Corporation//Outlook 11.0 MIMEDIR//EN
    VERSION:2.0
    METHOD:REPLY
    BEGIN:VEVENT

    DESCRIPTION:Yes indeed\n
    SUMMARY:Accepted: Xmas Bash

    X-MICROSOFT-CDO-IMPORTANCE:1
    CLASS:PUBLIC
    ATTENDEE;PARTSTAT=ACCEPTED:MAILTO:[email protected]
    END:VEVENT
    END:VCALENDAR
From what googling around I have done, this seems perfectly valid, but it does not seem to be processing it correctly. As it changes from the "~" to a "?" this would seem to indicate that it realises it has received a response, but cannot process it. To check, I looked at one of my acceptances to an event to see if it matches, and bar a couple of extra lines in both files, the syntax looks consistent. Even so, I tried saving the .ics file and editing it to reflect some of the different date that is created in a genuine iCal reply as opposed to the Outlook ones, lines such as CREATED:20071031T212254Z, and "ATTENDEE;CUTYPE=INDIVIDUAL;PARTSTAT=ACCEPTED;ROLE=REQ-PARTICIPANT:MAILTO:ka..@ be...n.co.uk but it makes no difference.
Does anyone else have this, and know how to fix it?
Many thanks for your patience reading through the above

Slight edit to the above, after some more testing, it appears that the return acceptance isn't being processed at all, and in fact the "~" only changes to a "?" if I update the event and send out a new invite. This kind of implies that event replies are broken in Outlook, but I was hoping all that was behind us now as inviting people to events works both ways between iCal and Outlook, seems the acceptances only work one way though. I'm sure this is to do with the .ics file contents, and if I only knew what was wrong I would be happy to fix it all manually in the meantime.

  • IMessage login problem on OSX Yosemite

    Hi.
Since i have updated to OSX Yosemite, I cannot sign in to iMessages or Facetime from my macbook Air. could anybody please help me out to resolve this problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
We would tend to see the exact message you are seeing.
These were the first 4 error messages and the suggested fixes
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: Troubleshooting sign in issues - Apple Support
There is a Fifth which has a Contact Apple Support messages on it.
It can only be fixed by contacting Support. (Although you often have to get bumped to Level 2 people and Say it an Account issue)
There seem to be two related issues to the 5th one.
The 6th as I call it is when each and every iMessages Contacts is reported as not being Registered.
The 7th seems to return "Not Delivered"  alerts in the chat window.
These two suggest that the Mac is partially logged in but is still having seemingly have issues related to the 5th issue.
If it these I feel only Apple Support can sort it but you will have a harder job convincing someone to actually look at the iMessages servers.

  • IMessage deactivating problems

I have recently sold my iPhone for a phone without iMessage. However I haven't been receiving messages who previously sent messages via iMessage. I have wiped my phone and unregistered my iPhone on the apple website but it still isn't working properly.
How do I unregistered iMessage off my iPad without disabling my applications?

I apologize about the odd style but I'm using voice rec software.  I just got the Galaxy S five and I have this problem too after weeks of searching online I finally figured out the problem it is with iMessage even if you have your old phones imessage switched off. you have to get your friends to text you normally and send. If the text bubble shows up blue, press and hold choose option send as SMS or text and the bubble will change to green green means SMS blue is the iMessage so its up to the iPhone user to take literally a half of an extra step to send a text to you and if they don't do that then they're just jerks

  • Imessage sending problems

so since i did the ios7 update my phone hasnt been my texts as an imessage. i can recieve imessages but i cannot send out as an imessage. It starts to send as an imessage but stops and doesnt send so i have been sending all my texts as a text which is really annoying. can anyone help my problem!

Ok, brothers and sisters.  I turned my iMessage off after posting this and several iPhone'ers were messaging me and then called saying "why haven't you responded".  I wasn't having any problems receiving, only sending, before.  Now it appeared my I couldn't receive from an iMessaging phone via SMS.  I knew I had to do something, I live and work with my phone.
A full restore AGAIN, TWICE did it.  Now I have to say, to be fair, I believe that it was twice because my hard drive on my PC was getting low (down to 20 gigs of free space).  I did a full backup (I've done many in the last week) and iTunes told me AFTER it had wiped out my phone and was in the process of the restore that "backup failed, not enough storage".  I was like, "you've got to be kidding me".  Like I said, I have backed up several times this week so I had my last backup from this weekend, I just would've lost a few pics and some data/texts.  I thought "oh well".  An hour and a half later, the restore finished and I could tell it wasn't complete.  I attempted to restore again, from the same backup this morning (I couldn't believe that it even showed up since it "failed").  2 hours later, it succeeded with all of the info up to the time of the backup.  All is restored.  I iMessage'd several of the people that were failing to receive my messages this morning and they all responded.  All fixed, praise God!! woohoo.  Best of prayers to you all on your fixes!
