IMessage verfying the old number.
Hi,
I am having trouble activating iMessage and Facetime, I recently changed my network provider from Airtel to Vodafone india. iMessage was working fine with the old provider Airtel. I got a new number with vodafone and am using that with my 4S.
I have switched off iMessage and Facetime before switching sims from airtel to vodafone, But now when ever I try to acivate imessage on my new number it is still trying to verfy the old number from Airtel instead of Vodafone and eventually fails.. I have tried it a lot of times and and the bill shows a lot of international SMS chanrges but the stuff does not work.. It is as if the old number has been hardwired to the phone, even though in India all iphones are unlocked.
Can any one help with the solution please, I am at my wits end on this one.
Thank you,
Nishanth
I could never get iMessage and Facetime to work on Vodafone India.. It would say activation failed and works only against the email address registered to recieve in the handset. I popped back the Airtel india Sim and reset network settings the registeration went thru in a couple of seconds.
It is definately some thing to do with the telecom operators configuring some settings on their network to enable both iMessage and Facetime and only registered carriers are doing it. Airtel india is a partner of Apple and Vodafone India not.
Honestly it is a bummer that iPhone features are made to work only with selective carrier, Apple tying up with telecom operators is fuine but it would do a lot of good for customers whoi buy their stuff where there is no carrier subsidies like in India.
Make sure that your telecom operator is a partner of apple then all features work like a dream.

I dont have my old number anymore and iMessage is still registered on the old number(it's in light grey fonts)I cannot choose or delete this number. Also I cannot recieve text on this number because it doesnt exist anymore.
You should contact Apple support and ask them to deregister iMessage for the old number.

i have just switched to samsung and i have removed the sim from the iphone however i am still receiving texts rather 'imessage' on the old iphone. how do i make sure all messages only come to my new phone??
You can turn iMessage off on your iPhone. That's relatively easy. Since iMessage is an Apple product/service, I have no idea how a Samsung phone will deal with an incoming one. For that answer you should probably contact Samsung support.

When a contact gets a new phone number, I delete the old number and enter the new number. When I try to text or call, both the old a new numbers. One up as a selection choice, even though the old number is gone from the contact.
That's normal behavior as the old one will remain in the memory cache for a while until it's eventually overwritten. If it's particularly bothersome to you, you can restore your phone as NEW and this will empty the cache.

On new IOS 7, when I message contacts, it selects thier old contact number, despite the fact I have deleted/edited their number in my contacts list. Only by going through contacts, can I message the correct number. The old number does not appear there, so I am unsure where "messages" is picking up the old number, it doesn't appear that "messages" is synching with "contacts". Any ideas how to fix this?

Does anyone know why when I change a contacts number and then try to send them a message the old number pops up aswell??
The phone remembers recently used numbers just like how Mail remembers recently used email addresses. As time goes by the phone will eventually forget unused number that are not in your contacts as long as you do not use it. Same for unused email addresses that are not in your contacts.

Hi,
You need to contact Apple Support somewhere along the line.
In iTunes go to the Store and then to the bottom of the page and click Support.
This will open a web page to start the process.
My UK version take me here http://www.apple.com/uk/support/itunes/
At the bottom of this Menu is Contact Support.
Click this then in the new Page chose the iTunes option on the right hand pane. (UK version http://www.apple.com/uk/support/itunes/contact/)
You now get led through a set of support questions.
Keep to the ones about Managing your Account until you reach the end and are offered email contact.
Explain the problem to them giving as much detail as you can. Dates and things you do know.

My daughter has an ipod touch with free texting, she received an inappropriate mssg and I would like to delete it and download it again to receive a new number. when I download the new app it gives her the same number? can i do this?
Have you tried the developer's support web site? Withut you providing the name of the app makes it very hard for us to give specific recommendations. The only one that i can thin of is to purchase the app using a diffeent iTunes account.

can anyone help?
I remember a friend of me and myself once swapped our sim cards, because something was wrong with hers. We wanted to check if it was related to her iPhone, or the sim card.
Anyway, so I had her sim card in my phone, and some messages appeared on my phone, mixed up with my other messages. It was only a few, because she had just gotten the phone.
One of the persons is a girl who we both know, and her messages to my friend merged in the same conversation as my conversation with this girl.
I just checked right now and I actually never had messaged to this girl, only phoned. So the first messages of her on my phone are those of my friend. But I messaged this girl later, and those messages went into the same conversation.
So I'm not sure now, but maybe if the contact info is exactly the same, it may work?
I think the most important part is that you still have them! -
Hi, my family all uses the same AppleID we never had a problem until this morning. I got a "phone number added to Iphone, Iphone is now using xxx-xxx-xxxx message it was my husbands number so I accepted it. Now he is getting all my text I went into the send/recieve and his phone number was there and on the same line it says verifying and it won't let me do anything. Does anyone know if the verifying will stop or when it should stop so I can delete his number? He lives in a different location and wants to wait until I get there to set up his own AppleID. Thanks
I used the post that said to turn off Imessage and facetime and back on-
it worked. My husband is new to using an Iphone so when I go to see him I will set him up a iCloud account like you suggested. Thank you -
I bought this phone from someone and then I unlocked it using that gevey sim i think -- using it for T-mobile..
I can't get Imessage to work on my phone number because the old number is there and it is grayed out and cannot be edited.
I can use it but not with my phone number, only with email.
Can someone please tell me how to fix this so that I can send with my number?
Thanks so muchThe advisor should not have told you this for legal reasons. There is no way of tracking the iPhones just of finding out which SIM cards were used to activate them and if they were activated at all. Court can authorize Apple to release this information to the count. There is no legal way without involving a judge.

Changing the phone number associated with iMessage in my iPad
Hi,
I bought an iPhone 3s, then an iPad 2' which then synced to my iPhone, using the same apple ID. This meant that the iMessage was synced between the iPad and the iPhone. All good so far.
I have now bought a new Iphone 5 , in addition to the iPhone 3, which has a new number. I change the phone number in my Apple ID to the new number, but my iPad still synced its iMessages with the old phone, not the new phone.
I intend to cancel he service with the old iPhone 3 and stop using that number.
However, I cannot find a way to change the number in my iPad to the new one.
I would appreciate some tips on how to do this. Thanks. You will most likely have to sign out of Messages and FaceTime on all devices and start the process of setting up both apps all over again with the newest iPhone number - on the new iPhone. You can read this for more information. It tells you how you can link a phone number with your iDevices. The most pertinent information will be at the end of the kb article.
iOS nd OS X: link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and Messages.
