IMessage won't open/freezes?

Both my iPod Touch 4th gen, and iPad mini won't open iMessage. I've restarted both, turned them off, restored them, turned iMessage off and logged out, and both have the latest software. When i try to open iMessage, I get a the layout of the screen but with no words or anything on it. When i logged out of iMessage and then opened it I was able to log in but it froze and I was unable to select any of the messages. What should I do?

If you only restored from backup try restoring to factory settings/new iPod.
If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • IMessages won't open after Mavericks upgrade

iMessages won't open after I upgraded to Mavericks. I keep getting prompted to "enter the keychain password," but I never created a keychain. I never used it before the upgrade, and I skipped the step during the upgrade because I did not want to use keychain and it was an option to skip it during set up.

    HI,
The OS X Mac have been using Keychains for a long time.
In the Applications/Utilities folder open Keychain Access.
This should show you at least two keychains.
The Login one for your Mac User account and the System one.
Generally speaking the Keychain keeps the passwords used by various apps and it needs to be Open.
In most cases the Login password for the Mac Account user is also the password that opens the Keychian when the computer is started up.
As each Mac User Account owns it's own Keychain there can be issues when you drag an account from one computer to another rather than using Migration Assistant.
i.e. you might Own it on one computer but not on another.
In the Finder > Go Menu hold down the ALT key and select the Library that appears.
In the library navigate to Keychains.
Click to highlight the Login one.
Now use the CMD and i keys together (Get Info)
At the Bottom unlock the padlock
Highlight the name that has (me) next to it (it should be your Shortname).
Once you have highlighted this use the cogwheel item at the bottom.
This should be greyed out but saying "Make you (Me) the Owner."
You should also have Read and Write permissions like in the Pic.

  • My itunes wont work in WIndows 7.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but it doesnt' work.  It consistently won't open, freezes, or opens and will play songs but only comes up as the shape of itunes in a kinda see thru box. Any tips?

My itunes won't work on my Windows 7 anymore.  I have already uninstalled and reinstalled SEVERAL times, but to no avail.  It consistantly freezes, won't open or doesn't work correctly.  The only way I can get it to close anymore is to go to the task manager and 'end process' itunes.  I do get an error at the beginning saying " the registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please re-install itunes."  I have searched the internet for possible fixes to no avail.  Please help...anyone!

Lets see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?

  • My iMessage won't open, it just crashes.

I have the iPod 5 with IOS7. And recently after I sent my sister a few dozens of pictures it crashed. I thought maybe because of the overload photos I must of sent; there were a lot. So when I went back to iMessage it won't open. It just keeps crashing. I asked my sister to send me a few messages so when it shows up in my lock screen I can slide to unlock and open it, or when the banner appears when I'm on different apps comes down I'll press it from there. But nothing seems to work. My battery died, so when I rebooted it up I thought hey maybe it'll work now. But it still doesn't. I've restarted it as well but it's still the same. I went into settings and turned them off then on again to see what it may do. But it doesn't help. I'd really appreciate the help I might get, thanks for your time!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • IMessage Won't Open on iPad 2 iOS 6.1.3

My 32GB Black Wi-Fi iPad 2 Running iOS 6.1.3 has been working fine until recently. My friend spammed me with messages on iMessage and now it won't open. I launch it and it crashes. I've tried a soft reboot, a hard reboot, and a "reset all settings." In Settings<General<Reset
The only think I haven't tried is restoring it with iTunes. I know how to do it and I've done it in the past, I just don't want to go through the hassle. Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    David

To fix this issue, go into the contacts app and choose to send a message to a random contact. Then the messages app will open. Delete the spam message that was causing the problem, and delete the blank message you chose to send to the random contact. This discussion is now closed.
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • IMessage won't open when clicking on icon.  Is there a fix?

Messages icon won't open when clicking on the icon since downloading Maverick.  Is there a fix?

    Hi,
Open the Font Book and check the AppleGothic Font is Active, not duplicated and Validates (File Menu).
In the list of fonts it is a long way down.
After that check Helvetica Neue and Lucida Grande.
The first deals with the iMessages Login.
The next is the Font used in the app to display the text. The last is the one that title the Group Bars in Buddy lists (even if you don't show then you need this)
If they check out go to Applications/Utilities and open the Disk Utility and then Repair Permissions.
This checks them against the database on the Mac which is updated when the apps and OS are updated.

  • Updated my Macbook Air to Yosemite and now IMessage won't open pictures

I updated my Macbook Air to Yosemite a few days ago and since then IMessage has been acting up. It won't let open pictures now. A picture comes through titled "IMG_2882" but when I click on it, it comes up with a description of the image - the type of image, when it was last modified, etc. I click the 'Open with Preview" option and nothing happens. I'm regretting updating to Yosemite now. Is anyone else having this issue? I have no idea how to fix it. Please let me know if you have any ideas! Thank you!

If it is the third party apps crashing - try downloading another app - any free app is fine. See if that resets the other apps.

  • APP WORLD WON'T OPEN, "FREEZES BB" , AFTER UPDATES

    Hi everyone
Yesterday I had three updates to make. I did the first one, restarted, then I had the bad idea to launch in the same time the two other updates from the the little bar that indicates lost calls, and any pending updates on the main screen...
Since then everything works fine, but  I can't open the APPWORLD app, and when I try to, the phone remains "on hold", blocked, even the clock stays blocked. Then I wait 20 minutes, nothing...
I just have to press twice on the power button, then te clock goes back to correct time, and I can do everything again..Except open and use appworld
    I tried, with no result:
-reboot the phone with the battery off
-reinstall the appworld application from the phones navigator
    -use the desktop application
The desktop application, when trying to remove any app, or install them, sends an error message, and I can't finish the operation.
Apparently, I have "lost access" to the management of my apps, from the BB and Desktop App....
Any idea of what I should do???
    THX A LOT!!!!

Hey everybody i found this on other forum.
    "Do the following:
    options>device>application management
    choose blackberry app world
    select delete
    restart
    on restart, send browser to:
    http://rroyy.com/ota/
reinstall old version of blackberry appworld
in my case BlackBerry App World v3.1.0.60 (OS6), no more freezing, all good."
    Worked for me ;D

  • IMessage won't open, says it maybe damaged or Incomplete

I try to open the iMessage and it just says ''application is incomplete or damaged. Pls how can i revert this?

First make sure you're trying to launch the copy of Messages at the top level of the Applications folder, not an outdated copy you saved somewhere else. If you are, see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance. You can skip this step if you don't care about the data that hasn't been backed up.
Reinstall the OS.* Your data should be unaffected unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Safari 5.05 won't open freezes my Imac

I downloaded Safari 5.0.5  4/16/11 according to system preferences log.  Since that time I have NEVER been able to get it to open and run.  It hangs my computer.  At first I couldn't even get it to Force Quit.
I did not have time to deal with the issue--troubleshooting all of these stuff takes an inordinate amount of time.  I teach and had to monitor online courses via browser, so I have been using Firefox without any problems.
What is up with this update? IMac with 10.5.8 OS.  Safari is totally unusable for me.
I have changed my update preferences to not be automatic.  This one really set me back.

Install the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update
Then restart your Mac and try Safari.
If that didn't help, reinstall Safari 5.0.5.
You do not need to uninstall your current copy of Safari before you reinstall 5.0.5.

  • IPhoto update from iLife06 won't open HP Scans. Help?

I decided to install iLife06 and had instant problems. I have a 2.5 Dual G5 running 10.3.9. and am using an HP 4890 scanner. Prior to installing the iPhoto update as part of iLIfe06, everything worked fine. I would scan a photo and transfer it to iPhoto and open it and work on it and whatever. Now...scans won't open in iPhoto. No matter how I try to sneak the scan into iPhoto, (via Preview, etc.), it won't open, freezes and has to be force quit. Reinstalled HP software to no avail. All the prior scans done on the same HP 4890, that were already in iPhoto, open fine, but new ones....nada. Had issue with iWeb too, not happy with this iLife06...how do I get rid of it, get back the old iPhoto, and back to serenity? If I use the original disks can I just install the old iPhoto?

    Hi redcatres,
I do not know the answer of why the scans are not opening in iPhoto. Do you scan and save to a folder (not the iPhoto Library folder), then import into iPhoto?
To get back to iPhoto 5, you would really need a backup of the iPhoto 5 Library folder that has not been updated to version 6 in order to keep your metadata such as comments and keywords, and also all your albums, slideshows, books.
You can go back to 5 if you do not have a version 5 backup, but you will have to reimport your photos and lose your metadata.
    Steps:
    To reinstall iPhoto 5
Drag the iPhoto Library folder in the Pictures folder to the desktop and rename it it iPhoto 6 library
Navigate to /Applications and drag iPhoto to the trash
Navigate to /Library/Receipts and drag all iPhoto receipts to the trash
Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences and drag com.apple.iPhoto.plist to the trash.
Insert your iLife 5 CD/DVD and choose to do a custom install. You will have to keep ongoing through the steps of the install before you get to the screen where you can choose a custom install.
    Install iPhoto.
Run Software Update and update iPhoto to the latest version of 5
Put your backup iPhoto 5 library in the Pictures folder and launch iPhoto.
If you do not have a backup iPhoto 5 library:
Open the iPhoto 6 library folder on the desktop
-double click the iPhoto Library folder on the desktop to open it
-the two main folders you will need to import are the Original folder and the Modified folder (only if you want to import the edited images).
-the Originals folder has all your originals photos unedited. the Modified folder has all images that you have edited, rotated, cropped, etc.
-Drag these two folders to the desktop
-If you want to save the edited image, find it in the roll in the Modified folder and drag it into the roll of the same name in the Originals folder. It will replace the originals and now will be the original.
-If you don't care to save any edited images, then don't import the Modified folder into iPhoto or don't bother replacing the edited image with the original image like I just described.
-If you import the Originals folder into iPhoto you will have all your originals in their named rolls.
-If you import the Originals and Modified folders into iPhoto, you will have all of the being in the originals folder in the finder. The roll with the same name as the other will have a _1 appended to it's name (in the finder)
-the roll from the originals will be next to the same roll from the Modified folder within iPhoto. You can then delete any of the images from there if you want.
I know this might sound confusing but it really isn't.
Get back if any of this sounds like something you might want to do.

  • Programs keep not responding, computer freezes often, apple mail won't open

Starting yesterday my computer has been running very slowly. it takes almost 15 minutes to start up and then programs won't open or will quit unexpectedly or not respond. Not to mention that my computer freezes every 30 seconds or so. I have 4gb of crucial ram that system diagnostics say is ok. i don't know what is wrong.

Have you tried opening Mail from the Applications folder. The Dock alias may be corrupt.
    Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.
