IMessage won't sign me in

So I have a school laptop (macbook air), and they have recently updated the OS X. It has signed me out of iMessage. When I try to sign in, the accounts page comes up. When I sign in, it says the following: "The server has encountered an error processing registration. please try again later." I have the same account logged in on my iPod, and it works fine. The account on my laptop has been showing this alert for the past day. please help. thanks

The problem should be solved by the school's IT staff.

Can anyone help me? I had to replace the screen on my ipod and now everything works fine, exept iMessage. It won't let me sign in and it keeps saying "Error accured duing iMessage login."

However, I suspect an Apple server problem. Many users have been reporting problems with Messages and Facetime today.

  • IMessage won't sign in after upgrade to Mountain Lion

Just upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion. FaceTime and iMessages can't log me in. In iMessage Setup, I use my default AppleID and password (that I use on my other iOS devices), and it says "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again".
I partook in the iMessages Beta programme (and uninstalled it months before Mountain Lion came out).
    Also some other points:
    * My time is set correctly
    * My DNS resolvers are working (actually using 8.8.8.8)
    * My certificate chain doesn't have any invalid or out of date certs
    * I can log into iCloud (from Preferences panel) just fine
    * I can log into the Mac App Store just fine
    * I've tried clearing the relevant Cache/preferences *.plist files in ~/Library/[Preferences|Cache]/*
I noticed in the console logs this error that crops up all the time:

    Any ideas?

Well, I finally got this to work.  My symptoms were; after Mountain Lion install, I cannot log into iMessage, FaceTime or the App Store.   Getting many certificate errors from websites using Safari.  Console log shows various certificate error messages such as Failed to get client cert and Certificate not yet generated each time an Appleid login was attempted.
After carefully following these instructions, step by step fixing cirtificates in the System Root Folder of Keychain, it finally started working.  The first time I used these instructions I was apparently in the wrong Keychain Folder.

  • IMessage Won't Let Me Sign In

After I either did my Lion update or my iOs7 update or changed my password about a month ago, iMessage won't let me sign in. Today is the first day I've used it on my computer and i never sign in or out usually. I try to sign in and when I do it says "The registering device does not have appropriate credentials." I am able to sign into everything else with my apple ID and password with ease. I do not have any other accounts, just the one. I also am only using it on my computer and phone. What's wrong?

Try signing out of Messages and then sign back in again.

Restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • FaceTime and iMessage won't stay signed in

    HI everyone,
This is a problem that has been bothering me for a few months. My family shares one iCloud account, which we use to make purchases all to one credit card. I also have my own Apple ID that I use for iMessage and FaceTime. Lately, however, my iPad has not been letting me stay signed in. The default Apple ID it gives me when I want to log in is my family ID. It has this in the username, so I delete it all, type my own in, and type my password. Then it says I'm logged in, but if I leave the page and come back it will go back to wanting me to sign in using my family account. if anyone can help me out that'd be great. Also this is when I'm trying to sign in through Settings. If I go through iMessage, it just straight up won't sign me in.
    Thanks tons!

    Hi ayyyschultzy,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you have a different Apple ID and want to use that as default instead of the family's account. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • I updated my iPod to the ios6 Software and ever since I rebooted iMessage won't work. How do I fix this?

It won't work. It was working at first when I updated but then after like 2 hours it wouldn't work. I rebooted it and THEN it wouldn't work. I would sign in to set it up, pick an email I wanted to use, but then it would take me back to the sign in screen with no explination. I'm getting really annoyed. I NEEED IMESSAGE. HELP

  • IMessage won't activate on macbook pro after os x reinstall

I did a fresh install of OS X on my macbook pro. iMessage won't activate. iMessage works fine on my ipad, iphone, and mac mini, but I can't sing in with my apple id on the macbook pro now. It worked fine before the OS X reinstallation. WHY?

First, check the status of iMessage on this page:
Apple - Support - System Status
If iMessage is down, wait tor it to come back up.
    Otherwise, back up all data.
Take the steps suggested in this support article:
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: "There was an error processing registration" when signing in
    Sign out of iMessage:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
Then sign back in with your verified credentials. Note that the password of some Apple ID's will expire periodically.
If you get the same error, try resetting the NVRAM.

  • Imessage won't work/activate after 5.1

I updated to 5.1 this morning, and now my imessage won't work. I try to turn it on, and I just get an activation error. "An error occurred during activation, try again".I've read in some other posts that my phone number should show by the imessage option? I don't see it anywhere. Once I get the activation error, then it provides me with the option to sign in using my appleID, but it when I do, it just keeps on reverting back to the sign in screen and won't connect. I've read through this forum and tried everything that I found - checked the date/time settings, checked my phone number, reset the networks, hard reset - and still it won't activate. What do I do?

Mine didn't work for 2 months and this fixed it, so I posted it in another discussion and have been getting "thank you" replies nearly daily:
    Just update your date/time settings:
    Settings
    > General
    >> Date & Time
    >>> Set Automatically:  Slide "ON"...If it's already on, then slide it off, chill for a bit (maybe restart it), then slide it back on.
I am using an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1, but other users with 3GS, 4S, and even iTouch devices replied that it worked.
