IMessage works away from home, but not at home wifi.

I can send text messages on wifi at other locations, but not at my house. I have wifi access and can get to the internet, send and receive email but the iMessage won't send. any suggestions

Try going to Settings>wifi and change the DNS to Google's 8.8.8.8

Is there a way to get iPods to work away from my wi-fi at home?

When we leave the house the kids are no longer connected to our wi-fi. I thought the iPods would work like my iPhone 4S and would just pick up wherever we are. They have 4th generation iPods. Is it possible to get a data plan through ATT to get them to work away from home or do they just not work like phones? I am assuming that they are still on 3G, but could be wrong. They like iTunes and YouTube, so those don't work without wi-fi. Any help would be appreciated.

Why would you think this? It is not a phone. It has no cellular connection. it only connects via wi-fi.

No ipod has ever been on 3G. No ipods have ever connected via anything but wi-fi

IMessage works for some numbers but not all

Hello all!
So I've run into a bit of a problem with my iMessage recently.
Currently I've been able to fix it for some of my iphone friends but there's one that I just can't seem to get to work.
So basically the rundown I did to fix it for the majority of my friends #'s was I
Turned off Imessage and Facetime
Restarted my phone
Turned on imessage and facetime
And that seemed to fix whatever was wrong with the majority of my friends.
However, there's one that just won't work..I know that he doesn't have texting on his iphone because where he lives he doesn't get service so he relies on wifi to use imessage..It was working fine until a couple weeks ago when I couldn't send anyone an imessage..and then randomly it started sending from my email. So upon searching the internet I got it to go back to my number but now I'm unable to text him anymore... It worked while on my email but once I got back on my number it didn't.!
I'm not quite sure if it's on my end or his..but I hope I can get some answers here!

Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It looks like you were not able to send iMessages to your contacts, and you've solved it by turning iMessage and FaceTime off and on again. It sounds like after this, your friend is not receiving iMessages because they are sending from your phone number.
Next, I'd suggest the steps in this article to make sure that your phone number is linked to your Apple ID (email address):
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
Your friend may also want to try these steps on their iPhone when they are in range of cellular service.

Why Does Spongebob Typing Work at Apple Store But Not at Home?

I had read reviews warning that The Learning Company/Broderbund/Encore SpongeBob Typing was incompatible with Leopard and/or Intel Macs. When I went to my Apple Store to get some typing software for my daughter, they recommended the app to me, and I auditioned it without issues on the store's (Intel, obviously) children's-area iMacs running 10.5.6.
I bought it, brought it home, and it won't run properly at all on either of our Intel MacBooks. It runs fine on the G5 my employer has loaned me, though that's not available for regular personal use. All of our machines run 10.5.6, so, er, huh? How come it works in the store on their Intel machine?
Today I visited a second Apple Store, also running SpongeBob on their kids iMacs, and noticed they're actually running a slightly-renamed "Spongebob Typing and Spelling," a version that's not exactly the one they sold me after all, and here's an even weirder thing: It doesn't seem to be available for sale anywhere. I see no sign it exists except on the Apple Store iMacs.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

It's almost the same. I have a slightly different box, and the Apple Store sticker refers to it as the "2008" version of the program. I read the earlier post with interest.
Am I absolutely sure that the Apple Store iMacs are Intel and running Leopard? No, but it's really hard to imagine they're not. They sure look like current iMacs, which means Intel, unless there are some secret PPC glass iMacs, which, seriously... And after posting my first email I'm thinking Leopard's not the issue since it runs on the 10.5.6 G5 (Hm, if Leopard's not the issue, where should I be posting this? Moderator, help?)
Also, as I say, the version they're running adds "and Spelling" to the title—it seems otherwise identical as far as I was able to tell—so I'm increasingly thinking the store's demoing one thing and selling another. Maybe the vendor has given Apple a pre-release of an upcoming, unannounced version it hasn't quite gotten around to releasing. Maybe (I'm hoping this) there's a patch available in some obscure place.

Log4j is identifying ${java.home} but not ${catalina.home} or ${jboss.home}

When i run my class it is creating debug.log in JDK but it failing to create a log file folder in Tomcat.. why ? any idea....!!

My Question is When it is identifying ${java.home} in the same way why it is not identifying ${catalina.home} or ${jboss.home}.
As what i understood is ${java.home} or ${catalina.home} or ${jboss.home} are variables which have some predefined path or property.

You either need WiFi or Cellular (or both). If you have neither, you can't connect to the internet.
Most people use WiFi at home and Cellular while away from home, or connect to public WiFi networks where there are some.

I have found that issue reported for Ubuntu (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1011935?esab=a&as=aaq) but not for Windows. The solution there to change the keyboard is not feasible since it's a laptop with a built-in keyboard.
I did not have this issue with FF 28 (I finally upgraded because I was getting BSODs) and I don't have this issue with any other Browser on same platform.
Any help appreciated.

Sounds like you may need to repair the Disk Permissions on your drive where your images are stored.

Have you tried a reset which is similar to a computer restart and is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release?

Airplay works fine in iTunes but not from the menu why?

I have read so many answers to the question about Airplay not working both here and the internet.
Can someone give me the definative answer why I can Airplay from iTunes but not from the Macbook Pro itself i.e. no menu icon or setting to mirror.
Everyone seems to say its the age of the computer or its the firewall or the wind is blowing in the wrong direction.
Why if I can do it oneway (iTunes), I can not do it directly?
I am using a 2011 macbook pro 10.9.3 and a apple tv 3.
Is there a hack or work around with out purchasing more software.

You really should use a DC motor controller to control a DC motor, look at the 754410 IC for a good example. You should be able to interface these to most DAQ devices.

Unless this is critcal for some reason I would not do this. Unless you understand all the techinolticcal pit falls you can leave your computer dangerusly exposed doing this. If you are not technical your best bet is going to be to get a wireless router with built in VPN support ($200 - $500) to give you a secure connection home. And then you will need the Apple Remote Desktop app ($90 I think) and even then it will only work if your work compute is also a Mac. There are probably other comerial apps that will let you remote into your Mac desktop on windows but will probably be in the $200 price range.
