IMessages and email issues

I cannot receive iMessages and I cannot access my email. Can I still downgrade to iOS 6.1.4?  I had no issues with that version

Thanks again.
There is a listing for Theme in settings which gives the 3 options "Theme controlled, Combined and Separate for sms, mms and email.  I and the store have tried this option which sadly did not work, in fact it removed all remaining messages from my message folder; they are still there, but only accessible from the sms inbox folder which you have to navigate to via view folder option.  The store recommended contacting Blackberry directly as well as the forum sites for advice as they have never seen this happen before.  They also advised that if no fix was possible then to back up my files and restore to original settings and start again.
I have since removed the battery from the device and then replaced it to see if that helped.  The device appears to have rebooted and sms messages are now showing in my message folder.  However, I still cannot receive my emails.  I have decided to remove my email accounts from the phone and then reinstate them and hope that will rectify any conflicting issues.
Thank you for your time, it has been very appreciated and helpful.  I will let you know if this resolves the email issues.  I know it is probably not the correct way to fix but if it works then it is worth a shot.

  • Browser and email issues with OS 10.9.4

Had a problem that I thought had been solved.  See thread here: Just installed OSX 10.9.4 - have browser and email issues
Now a week or so later, it's back.  Same symptoms.  I have followed the procedure posted by Linc Davis.  Anybody have further ideas?
    Don Hutchins

If you are using Safari, try going to Safari/Preferences/Advanced and set the develop menu to show. Go to the develop menu and select Empty Caches.
If that doesn't work, Safari/Reset Safari/Remove all web site data.
    For Mail, try:
    Do a backup.
    Quit Mail.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail.  Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Restart, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.
Information learned from Linc Davis. Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • Just installed OSX 10.9.4 - have browser and email issues

After updating the OS to X 10.9.4, I am now getting sporadic browser and email issues.
Email will send one message from each account, then locks up and the message is "authentication refused".
Browser will bring up an internet page or sometimes several, then will lock up and no further URLs can be accessed.
Both issues are temporarily solved by rebooting the machine - but recur almost immediately.
I am pulling my hair out.  Any thoughts?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • My mom's iphone is sending spam imessages and emails?

So my mother has a iPhone 4, running iOS 5.0.1 I believe. Our service provider is Bell Canada.
This afternoon I recieved an odd **iMessage** from my mother on my Iphone 4S, containing a link. Knowing that this was strange, I immediately responded to the message via the app Kik Messenger asking her what she sent me. As I suspected, she said she didn't send me anything via iMessage. On a hunch I checked my email, where I found three obvious spam **E-mail** messages sent roughly the same time. After informing her, she found that all of her contacts on her iPhone with email addresses attached had recieved spam e-mails, and those that had iPhones had also recieved similar spam iMessages via email.
Basically its like that old "I love you" spam email message that if you open it it goes through and sends itself to your whole contact list, only it is somehow able to send both e-mails and iMessages. No SMS that I'm aware of.
I'm going to get her to restore her phone from a back-up... but this boggles my mind. I'm having her change her passwords for both her email address and Apple ID, though I doubt that will actually do anything (at least it will make her feel better about the whole thing)
How is this possible? Does anybody understand the relationship between iMessage, your Apple ID and your email address? .

My girlfriend's iPhone just did this today, something about joining Vox me!, which she or I know nothing about.

  • PDF and email issue

Not sure where to post this. My problem is this: my tax agent sent me a tax organizer in the PDF format where I enter all of our tax information. I completed the document and emailed it back. When he opens it, the only information that shows up are check marks that I put in certain boxes. No text, no figures. My tax guy is using a PC. I then sent it to another PC user friend and he had the same result.
Is this an issue on my end or the PC end? Any ideas?

He probably created the PDF fill-in form in Adobe Acrobat. These forms often don't work properly unless both parties have the same version of the full Acrobat product (Standard or Pro).
It's also possible that you worked on the document in Preview rather than Acrobat, another case in which the form fields may or may not work.
If you don't have Acrobat on your Mac, you could download the free Acrobat Reader and try this again. Version 8 and later are supposed to support filling in form fields. Version 9 is the current release.

  • IMessage and Facetime issues after upgrading to iOS 8

My husband has a Mac-book pro, and I have an iPhone 5C and an iPad (with retina display). I just upgraded my phone and iPad to ios8. Before, my husband and I were able to send messages back and forth with iMessage and he was able to call me on Facetime and now we cannot. I did not accept the iCloud drive on the phone and iPad, but I think he may have on his end. He is currently out of town so i wasn't able to tell him not to when it popped up. We do use the same Apple ID for iTunes and the computer, iPad and iPhone, however for iMessage and Facetime he has his own Apple ID. Is there any way I can fix this so we can talk again with the iMessage? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

    iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime

  • Unable to log into iMessage and intermittent issues with FaceTime

Late 2011 MacBook Pro, OS X 10.8.4.  I'm an admin level Windows guy but a relatively new (and otherwise very pleased) convert to Mac OS.
This morning Messages started repeatedly prompting me for my iMessage password and FaceTime has starting working only intermittently.  Both work fine from my iPad and iPhone 5.  Both have been working from my MacBook Pro for months.
This morning when I tried to fire up Messages on the MacBook I got an error saying "The server encountered an error processing registration".  After doing some Googling, I noticed that many folks said that when they had this problem they also had an issue with FaceTime.  I confirmed that FaceTime was indeed giving me the same error as iMessage. After trying some solutions from past threads that didn't work, I rebooted.  Now instead of throwing an error, Messages just keeps asking me for my iMessage password again and again.  FaceTime works occasionally but sometimes when I get a call and click answer, I get "call failed" as my iPhone and iPad continue to ring and then I'm asked to re-enter my password on the MacBook.  If I enter my password it just sits and spins.  If i quit FaceTime and start it again, it'll usually log in successfully but calls may or may not work (following the same pattern I just mentioned).
The odd thing to me is that when I tested FaceTime on my iPad, I got notifications on my iPad and iPhone and my primary and alternate email address were now registered with FaceTime.  They have been for over a year so I'm not sure why I'm getting those notifications again.
I'm able to log into the Mac App store without a problem using the same AppleID
What I've tried so far based on Google results:
    1. In Keychain Access, reset my default keychain - No improvement
    2. In Keychain Access, selected Keychain First Aid, repaired and verified - No improvement
    3. On my iPad, turned iMessage off and back on - No improvement, though iMessage on the iPad still works fine
    4. Confirmed that my primary and secondary AppleID email addresses and password are correct.  The email address associated with my AppleID is not associated with any other AppleIDs.
    Thanks!

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Restart your broadband device and your router, if different. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 3
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or obviously invalid, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 4
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 5
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 6
    Select from the menu bar
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 7
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 8
Boot in safe mode and log in. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but didn't work when you booted out of safe mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 9
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 10
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 11
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support.

  • Problems with camera iMessage and email with ios8.1.3

I have updated to IOS 8OS 8.1.3 my iMessage emails and camera are working one min not the next. My photos and mail flashes on then off. My messages disappear and it looks like I'm not receiving some imessages. I have tried resetting all settings ?? I have tried every thing I can think of Please help

    Hello Adeleq1,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with some applications on your iPhone. What you have described is definitely unexpected behavior, so let’s see if we can isolate these issues further. One of the best ways to isolate issues is to restore the software on your device. To do so, let’s backup your device and restore it as new. Once restored, test to see if the issue persists - if not, go ahead and restore your backup and information then test once more:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support

  • Imessage and other Issues with 3rd Gen iPad

Hi there, just got a 3rd Gen iPad for the mrs and so far it's been great.
However, several rather annoying issues have developed and I can't seem to find the right trouble shooting for it, so I thought I'd try here.
    So here they are:
    iMessage & facetime don't work
Issue 1- Each time she uses her Apple ID log in for either feature a message "iMessage Activation: Could no sign in. Please check your network connection and try again". I've checked the network settings, I've reset them on the iPad and yet it seems to persist. Her appleID is valid as it works on her iPhone, which is using the same network/Wifi as the iPad, yet the iPad seems to decide it doesn't want to activate. I've signed in on my appleID and the same message seems to appear
Issue 2 - When using apps like Chrome a constant message will appear "Connect to iTunes to use push notifications" every time the app is open. This has been done, it's been backed up and it has connected to iTunes, yet these messages still pop up each time chrome is opened.

I also am having issues with my ipad mini as far as imessage . sometimes it works fine . Sometines I receive ok but it hangs on sending . i have tried everything . I think the apple server is a mess  Most times I can only send If i am replying to a message i received . If i try to start a message it hangs . No reason found

  • Why can't I select imessages and email them?

I used to be able to select from an imessage string and forward the string as an email.  Now it appears to "go" but doesn't appear in my email account.  What can I do?

Look at my sample iMessage snap shot. The forward button at the bottom part of the screen, you don't see that in your iMessage conversation?

  • HT3529 How can I iMessage and email address?

  • Firefox Web Browser connectivity and email issues with Comcast connection

I have been having an issue with Firefox conecting through Comcast both to xfinity home and especially to email for the past 2 to 3 months. I finally solved the problem. Comcast requires no proxy setting. To solve the problem go to Firefox Tools, click on Options, click on the tab Advanced. Click on Settings, the check the box for "No proxy". Click Ok. And that did it! Am I glad. Reading email was getting very tedious with all the waiting.

  • IMessage and Memory issues since updating iPhone to ios 8.1.3

I stupidly updated my iPhone 5S due to the idea of a wider variety of emojis and now everything has gone wrong. My iMessage keep disappearing and reappearing or not coming through at all on my phone but they're all still coming through perfectly fine on my Macbook. As well as the iMessage issue my iPhone keeps on insisting me memory is full even though I've deleted pretty much everything, nothing loads my screen just crashes then goes back to homepage...my patience is running low and by the looks of Twitter I'm not the only one facing these issue my only wonder now is what, if anything can I do?

    Greetings Nezza80,
After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an error when viewing videos. You may want to consider restarting the device first, and then resetting if that does not work. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
    How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

    Hi there
I need to set up "Don't disturb" to let in incoming calls (ringtone) but to mute email and imessage notifications. Is this possible?
    Please help. Thank you.

    Yes, you can
In Settings, turn on Do Not Disturb to silence sounds from incoming calls and notifications. You can allow calls from your favorites, specific contacts, or contact groups. Enable Do Not Disturb manually or schedule a recurring time.

  • Wi-Fi and email issues

I have a WEP secured router.  I entered the password and the RAZR MAXX attempts to obtain the IP address and then disables the connection.
I set up the email account for my provider according to directions on both their site and what I've read here for the same service provider.  I cannot send or receive email.  This is the second droid I've owned, and I don't remember this many issues with simple processes.
I guess I should've read the boards and I would've noticed that I'm not the only person with these issues with the new droid.

Not sure exactly what's going on but this link will help you troubleshoot wifi connectivity with your Droid Razr.
