IMessages not coming to iPhone while in airplane mode

iMessages not coming to iPhone while in airplane mode, but arrive well on iMac !
Is there something I can do ?

Yes, I know that, but when receiving a SMS, even if the iPhone is turned off or in airplane mode, the message is not completely lost, it will arrive as soon as the iPhone is turned back on ...

The iphone is not  storage/backup device.
The sync is one way - computer to iphone.
The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Trying to confirm wifi overseas while in airplane mode

I'll be traveling to UK and India in the next few weeks and I want to confirm that there aren't any gotcha's when you use wifi while in airplane mode. I tested it at home and it works fine. I assume that there aren't any charges for accessing the Internet, but not using any cellular networking.

You can't use wifi while in airplane mode, all RF is disabled. Did you mean Data Roaming? If so you'll only be charged by your operator for calls and texts but will not be able to access the internet or use Visual Voicemail while Data Roaming is disabled.
Wifi access and costs depend on local providers.

  • Received text message while in airplane mode

I recently flew to South America and put my phone (Samsung SGS3) into airplane mode.  Imagine my surprise when during my flight I received a text message from Verizon, saying "Welcome to Mexico."  And then more info about signing up for a global plan.  How did Verizon know I was crossing over Mexico and how did they send me a text message?  Isn't airplane mode suppposed to turn off all radios?  Wifi was not on either.  I was on American, which does have wifi, but my wifi was turned off.  Or does airplane mode not really turn everything off?

The show SMS preview option off with a passcode lock enabled is for when your iPhone is locked.
If unlocked and being used, the assumption is it will be you that is using your iPhone, and I don't have anyone looking over my shoulder when I'm using my iPhone.
Before allowing someone else to handle or use your iPhone, turn on Airplane mode so that no SMS or calls can be recieved when someone else is using your iPhone. If internet access is required when someone else is using your iPhone and there is an available wi-fi network that you have access to, you can turn on wi-fi access with Airplane mode enabled. This won't prevent someone else that you allow to use your iPhone from reading your SMS or email, but if I discovered someone I allowed to use my iPhone perusing through my SMS or email without my knowledge or permission, that would be the last time they would use my iPhone for any reason.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8625 - Will not acknowledge incoming fax while in sleep mode

HP Officejet Pro 8625 - Will not acknowledge incoming fax while in sleep mode. The sender receives an error "no answer".
When I call the fax number, if I touch the screen it will wake up immediately to receive the fax.
Printing from the computer while in sleep mode works fine.
Please advise.  Im missing important faxes and can only set sleep mode to a maximum of 15 mins, so I have an alarm set to touch my machine every 15 mins. sigh...
    Thank you,

    Hi Willia,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see when your HP Officejet Pro 8625 enters sleep mode, you are unable to receive any incoming faxes. The senders will receive a 'no answer' error. I understand your printer will wake up from sleep mode if you send a print job.
First let's go ahead and make sure the OJ 8625 is plugged directly into a wall outlet, using a power bar or surge protector can cause the printer to lose basic functionality over time. To get a better understanding take a look here: Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
Now, I would like you to update your printers Firmware, click on the link below and follow the on screen instructions:

Are you now able to receive incoming faxes when the OJ 8625 is in sleep mode? If not, I would like you to contact our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • IMessage doesn't receive messages when on airplane mode

Okay so here's the issue I have here, I'm using an iPod touch 4G that's running on iOS 6.1.6. I like to put my iPod on airplane mode when I'm not using it, so it's always on airplane mode at night. Usually, until last week, all messages sent to me on iMessage while I was on airplane mode would be received when I took my iPod off of airplane mode so that I could read them and reply. Since last week, I've run into a problem where I only receive the latest 3-4 messages sent to me on iMessage and none of them from earlier.Or I receive no messages at all, only to find out later that I have received a lot from friends. I know that this has to do with putting my iPod on airplane mode, I have reset all my network settings but the issue is still present. I'm confused as to why this problem has just popped up because I have done this for a really long time and no issues came up until just a week ago. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Are you powering the iPod off (Slide to Power off)?
Or are you letting the iPod sleep?
When powered off it can't receive anything.
    If just asleep see:
How do I make IOS 6 keep wifi on when iPod is sleeping?
Also try when connect to another network

  • Is it possible to use the personal hotspot on my phone while in airplane mode?

I have the Personal Hotspot on my phone and was wondering if while in the air (when my phone is on Airplane Mode) I could use it for wifi for my MacBook Pro.
    Thanks!
    -AS

To simplify Personal Hotspot, the phone needs data coming in (via cellular) to push it out (via wifi) to your MBP.  As wjosten said, with Airplane Mode on, all radios are off so no cellular or wifi functions will work.

  • If a stolen iPhone was in airplane mode will a find my iPhone passcode lock apply itself when the hone is switched off of airplane mode?

My girlfriend's iPhone was stolen whilst on holiday in London. The phone was in airplane mode and didn't appear on Find My IPhone, which was installed and enabled (all set tis correct other than airplane mode). I sent a remote passcode lock to the phone.
The next day the iPhone appeared on the map, obviously having been switched on and had airplane mode switched off. My question is, will the remote lock apply immediately the phone comes back online?
I assume their only opting at that point is to do a factory restore which would wipe all the data anyway, right?
Also, can't Apple track the IMEI number regardless of a restore and a new SIM? Or the network operator that the phone was originally connected to?

This notion that is being floated around that Apple's hands are tied due to privacy and legal concerns doesn't impress me much at all. My iPad was stolen about a month ago. I have the receipt, the serial number (from my box), and the MAC address (from my home router's log). Armed with that information it's technologically feasible to track, deauthorize, and eventually recover my device. But for reasons I have been unable to ascertain Apple refuses to provide anything like this for their customers. And as their devices become increasingly smaller, more desirable, and more expensive theft of them will also increase.
But to my point about legalities and privacy concerns: whether they are true or not, it certainly doesn't stop Barnes and Noble from blacklisting their Nooks when they are reported stolen. At least, that's what I found after buying a Nook color off craigslist. When I tried to register it online it refused. When I called in to customer support they informed me that it was a stolen device. If I wanted to remove the blacklist, they explained, simply provide the last 4 digits of the credit card, the name on the receipt, and the total dollar amount of the store along with store number where the device was purchased. If I lacked any of that information, I could simply contact the store and retreive it from their records. Since I was not the original owner, however, my option was to turn the device over to the police and hope they returned it to the rightful owner.
When I explained this scenario to Apple Care he insisted the limitation was due to privacy concerns. That defies logic, however, when one considers that it's the original owner (and only through the poilce and Apple's legal department) who must report the device stolen. And, like B&N, it's the customer who is able to provide personal information to blacklist (as well as unblacklist) a device according to his or her own volition.
I've been thinking a bit about this for some time...plenty of time to think on the couch sans iPad anway...and I've been wondering why in the world does Apple not allow users to deauthorize and blacklist iDevices through iTunes itself. At that point Apple has no involvement in the process and even the barest of legalities are irrelevant. My assumption is that Jobs has thought long and hard about these issues, including my described resolution, so it begs the question as to why Apple refuses to do anything about stolen devices. I hope one day I can ask him because that is a question I would like answered more than anything: what is the rationale for the hands-offs approach to this? I can't fathom one myself but I have to guess there is one. Apple hasn't come across to me as a callous company so I'm reluctant to attribute it to that.
