IMessages on Mavericks will send and receive but will not show my sent messages
So last week I was on ML and signed into iMessages app. I was able to log in and it showed my number and email and everyone's iMessage indicator worked fine. The issue was that I couldn't send any messages out. After typing my message to someone and pressing enter it would dissapear and they would never get the messages. So after hours of browsing I just figured maybe going to Mavericks would help solve the issue. Upgraded and logged into iMessages and to my dismay, it now will send the messages and receive messages and will sync with my iphone but I still can NOT see the messages I send out. After pressing enter they disappear. I've pretty much given up but hope someone in the community will help. I'm pretty bright with Mac and tried a PRAM reset, I've enabled and disabled, logged in and out, shutdown and restart, went into library and erased preferences, but nothing. My whole day is behind a computer and I love iMessages... When it works lol. Plz help. Thank you. I'll assume Ralph will take a gander since he is the pro on here from what I saw. Thanks everyone.

When using spotlight search my phone will not show all text messages with a common word even though I have not deleted any messages from my phone and I have the message search turned on in settings under spotlight search. The search only shows the messages that are recent within the past day or so. Why won't it show the other messages when I search for them even using a specific word that I know was in the message I'm searching for.

It sounds like you are not getting notifications for new text messages that are coming in, and you must manually check the app. I recommend checking the Notification settings to see if they are configured correctly:

Sounds: An audible alert plays.
Alerts/Banners: An alert or banner appears on the screen.
Badges: An image or number appears on the application icon.

The only thing that is displayed is the typing (...). messages i send do not even show up on my computer.

In Messages Menu > Preferences > Accounts > Messages account check the iPhone Number is showing Up as both a "Receive" Alias and is in the "Send From" Drop down.
Next check the iPhone is listing the iPhone Number as a possible Send and Receive option. (I have seen the number become unticked even though the option is greyed out)
If possible make the Send option on both the same ID or iPhone number.
If this has not improved things do the following.
On the iPhone > Settings > Messages remove the Apple ID.
Then place the iPhone in Airplane Mode for 5 minutes to "break" with the server.
On waking the iPhone add the Apple ID back to the Messages settings.
If the Mac version has not had a pop up to say the iPhone is using the iPhone Number and the Apple ID then restart Messages on the Mac.

Email Sends And Receives, But No Delivery
When I send email to a local user ('localuser'), it is received into the system, but never gets delivered. I know this because I can capture incoming message from the 'spool' directory.
Initially, the troubleshooting environment was within Server and it was suggested that DNS was the problem. I felt that this was outside the scope of the root problem (but, maybe not). I tried to resolve by correcting my DNS. No luck. Now, I'm trying to simplify the issue by removing Server from the equation. My results are exactly the same as with Server.
I appreciate all help and advice.

No mail for localuserBefore I got further down the path, my drive crashed. Once back up, I set up a mail server using standard Mountain Lion, without OSX Server (Much simpler than the convolution that Server adds).
I did initially have the same problem though. And, I believe that it was due to the main.cf entry of:
relayhost = $mydomain
Once commented out, messages were delivered to the client app.

Try this:
Double tap the Home button.
Scroll by swiping from right to left until you see the Messages app and then swipe it up and off the screen.
Tap Home button
Now try going to Messages app and see if its fixed. -
Why does my iPhone 4 keep loosing it's connection to download emails or go onto safari? If I power down the phone and restart it then it will connect but shortly after it will loose the connection and then just shows connecting in email or in safari unable to connect to the Internet
I'm guessing it's more likely a problem with your carrier's 3G network in the area. You shouldn't have to modify any settings for 3G to work consistently on a supported carrier.
You can try turning off 3G data, with will switch over to Edge if it exists. If it does, it will be much slower than 3G, but I suppose faster than 0 is better than 0.
I'd contact your carrier about it. -
TS1307 Mail - can send and receive but can't reply
Running Mac OSX 10.5.8, Mail 3.6, all software up to date, permissions repaired, Mail accounts correctly set up and configured with outgoing server, no problems with internet.
For SOME emails when I hit Reply I can compose the reply but the Send button is greyed out. But not all.
SOMETIMES when starting new messages the Send button is greyed out. But not always.
I did not have this problem a week ago.
Nothing on the Apple site deals with this problem. I've been through all the troubleshooting, mail assistant, etc, but nothing describes or solves this problem.

When it's grayed out on the send, open connection doctor from the Menu>Show Detail>Check again, is some connection or have a red ball by it? -

As far as I can tell you cannot delete the ID when Only one is listed.
This would suggest that you have to add the second (Correct) one and then delete the first (wrong) one.
I can't say I have tried this yet.

You do not have a "phone number". Your ipad has a cellular access number and can't make phone calls.
You must use your apple ID email for imessage and FaceTime on iPad. -

Yes You have to create as it's just a template that u created in IR. But u can use the same for creating CC.

There's pretty much no diagnosing those -- they are the equivalent of the random errors in Windows for which tracing the root cause is fruitless. Basically, these are the last out in the programming code -- some event occurred for which there is no handler in the code. The fix is a code update that handles the event...but, again, knowing what the event is is pretty much impossible. So, there are a few things to try:
Sometimes, the code simply becomes corrupt and needs to be refreshed -- just like a reboot:
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
If it won't boot up cleanly, then you may need to try Safe Mode:

The toughest possible cause is a badly behaving app. To find it, there are a couple of options. One is to see if you can read the log file:
Go to the home screen. Hold down the "alt" key and type 'lglg'. (You will not see anything while you type).This will bring up the log file. Scroll down (probably many pages) untill you see a line that says 'uncaught execption'. Click on this line. The name of the app will be in the info. Alternative methods for bringing up the logs are in this KB:

The other method is to remove apps one at a time, waiting a while in between (I usually recommend a week), until the problem ceases...thereby discovering the offending app. Still another method is to reload the BB OS cleanly, leaving some time between adding other apps onto the BB so as to be able to determine exactly which one is the cause.

Safari and mail have become slow only the last few days. Mail is slow to send and receive, but e-mails do come through. Safari is very slow to load on only a few web sites - google, wikipedia, youtube. But fine on others.

Whether you are running Mac OS X 10.6.2 or 10.6.3 your system software is completely outdated.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update.
Your Mac OS X needs to be at v10.6.8 / Safari should be 5.1.7
And make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk to install software updates.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop.
Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

I just purchased a ipad2, it would not work on my MacBook 10.4.1 I purchased and installed OSX snow leopard 10.6.3 downloaded and installed the latest itunes, set up an itunes account, purchased some music and apps. When i plug in my ipod it shows up and works, but when i plug in my new ipad the ipad screen comes up with a display of a cable and itunes but does not show in devises, i have tried all the resets and different USB ports with no success. Any ideas short of selling it on ebay or buying a new computer?
If you've already tried the usual rebooting of the computer and ports and stuff, there is only a few things left I can think of. It's possible that when you updated iTunes it didn't fully replace all the files, so I suggest just manually removing iTunes and then reinstalling it.
Try removing iTunes manually first http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224 then download a fresh copy, make sure it is 10.3.1
It is essential that you go through Finder to remove those files it mentions. Otherwise they won't be reinstalled when you run the installer again. -
"Save" and "Quick Look" buttons not showing in Apple Mail
