IMessages using icloud email

In a group chat with all iphone users, 1 person upgraded to the 7.0.3 update. After that when she talks to us in a group chat it uses her icloud email instead of her phone number. I've checked her settings to see if something changed and only her phone number is checked off in the "start new conversations from" in imessage (which is the same as mine). It is quite annoying when you text her using her phone number and she responds in a completely different window. How is this fixable without having to keep typing out her phone number? On her end, she receives all my messages I send to her using her icloud email and her phone number and it comes in the same chat window. I have not upgraded and with all the issues I'm reading don't plan to anytime soon. For reference, she has a 4 and I have a 5.

Make your Apple ID and primary email address one and the same.
Your Apple ID will be easier to remember, and your account will be easier to access and manage.

IMessage using iCloud email and not Phone number

I have a friend who's messaging me using iMessage but it's coming from her email address instead of her number. I can text her number in a separate message and it will show up as a text on her side, but when she responds back it sends it as an iMessage from her email.
Anyone have any ideas or fixes?

First see in https://appleid.apple.com if her apple ID is linked with her iPhone phone number, if not, modify and save changes, then in her iPhone go to settings -> messages -> and deactivate iMessage and activate it again (the phone number should appear in "Receive At" greyed out). Do the same in settings -> FaceTime. After that reboot your iPhone. Hope that works, it worked for me

select send and receive
uncheck your Apple ID and check your phone number.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

I use icloud email but (2 email accounts univ and icloud) and i need to have all my outgoing emails come "from" my university account, not my icloud. So how do i do that, note checking the default box for sending new messages only applies to new messages

All my email is fowarded to my icloud account and what i need to do is make sure all of my email that i ship is from my university account and not from my icloud account. I know there is a box that allows the default for all new emails to originate from one account but how do i make sure that all my replies to email (i.e. they have been fowarded from university account to icloud) now go from my university account. please help anyone.

Sorry for the delayed response, yes i want to use my university account when replying to all emails. Note i just discovered something, when i forward my university email to my icloud account and than responded from either my imac of my macbook air (i.e. in icloud) it automatically goes to my university account in the "from" space (good news!!!). That is just what i wanted, . While that is the good news, the bad news is that my iphone and ipad still treat this email as being from icloud even though it is forwarded (redirected) from my university account. That is when i respond to an email (or for that matter create a new email in my icloud account) it automatically lists the icloud account as the "from" account and i have to go in and manually modify it. So i am 50% there to solving my problem (i.e. actually did nothing the systems just worked well) but i still need to figure out a way to make this happen on my ipad and iphone. Any help or suggestions, note the default button in the iphone and ipad for email work differently than the default in the composition menu of the imac or macair.

You can only use Mail, contacts and calendars will not work, for that you need Outlook.

Use iMessage with iCloud email alias?

I set up iCloud with my old .mac / mobileMe account. So far no trouble.
But I've been using some email aliases that I use for actually emailing and kept the "core" email address (the iCloud log in) a "secret". (Just because I'm afraid of spam. An alias is easier changed than a whole Apple-ID with iCloud in the backseat now - in case I end up on a spammers-list).
Now when using iMessage I need to give out an email address (of course). I tried to use one of my iCloud addresses (aliases) but it won't accept those. Only the iCloud log-in Email address. Which I don't want to give to my friends or other people.
Is it supposed to ONLY work with your iCloud log in?

This worked for me as well. This is what I wrote in one of my previous replies above:
I'm still having problems with my aliases as well and haven't figured out yet how to solve them, but at least I was able to add all of the real and aliases emaill addresses in Settings>messages, as Received At addresses by adding them first directly into my Apple account (https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/9/wa/directToSignIn?w osid=HjlK10qeSWnPnWAP22tUF0&localang=en_US) and then I was able to enter all my aliases in the iPhone and iPad under the messages settings. Having figure out yet how to sync the iMessages between my iPhone and iPad, though.
But even though I had issues when I wrote the reply above, I was able to add my aliases and now I'm using it for iMessages without any issues. I think is worth trying to add the emails and aliases to the apple id account profile and do it more than once if it doesnt work the first time. I did it like three times until the server added and recognized my aliases There's still server issues causing headaches to people.

Is there any way I can use my icloud email aliases on a windows 7 machine other than icloud.com? I've tried outlook, but it won't allow me to send from my aliases and icloud.com is so slow it's maddening. I've searched online and haven't come up with anything so I'm doubtful that there is a solution but would be so happy if there was.

How to use iCloud email for registering at iTunes Store

This is my first discussion even I'm not a newbie
I'd like to use my iCloud email to register at iTunes store, but I always got a message "Use your @me account to sign in" (I guess like that the message). When I sign in with iCloud ID at AppStore, there's another message said "This account hasn't been used with iTunes yet"

Are you trying to use @icloud.com to set up a new iTunes account? If so, I don't think that complete system has been rolled out yet. It will not likely be active until iOS 6 is made public. So as the system is telling you, you need to use @me.com for now.

Why does my iMessage use my email and not my phone number?

I upgraded to IOS 5 recently and my friend wondered why he had to use my email to message me and not my iPhone's number. My carrier is Verizon and I bought my iPhone 4 in January. Does anyone know how to fix this? I already have done a system restore and that did not work.

Go to Settings>Messages>Receive At>Caller ID and select your phone number instead of your email address. If you don't see your phone number and/of you don't see the Caller ID setting, your phone number is not yet activated with the iMessage server (and you will notice that is says "waiting for activation" under iMessage).

Is it legal to use .icloud email address for your business?

We have just a small organization and want to utilize the .icloud email addresses and icloud as well..
Are there any legal stipulations for businesses to use Apple's .icloud email addresses?

The organization is basically a daycare/kindergarten with a staff of about 5. We don't really have a need for a business online image persay, well not like a fortune 500 company or others would need..
I basically had entertained the idea for shareable calendars on icloud would be a huge asset and since we are migrating to more apple products such as ipads and Macs in the classroom, it would be nice to streamline things with icloud..
So it's not so important to 'show' our email address as it is than to just be able to utilize them. However our day to day clients would use the new icloud email addresses, hence why I was asking if it was legal.
But regardless, your points are right and I can see alot of folks argue against such free email vs an isp hosted email accounts..

Unfortunately the free 5GB of storge is per account, not per device. However, iCloud will only back up your iOS devices, not your iMac. You may find that 5GB is sufficient if you are only backing up two iOS devices to the account. If not, you can always buy more.

Using iCloud email for online accounts

We're changing our internet provider and I need to change all of the online accounts that use the old email address in the log in process. I've considered setting up an Outlook email address or a Yahoo or Gmail address so that future provider changes wouldn't require me to change the email log in for the dozens & dozens of online accounts but don't really want to use any of these providers. Can I use my icloud email address, which is already linked to my iPhone & my MacBook Pro accounts? Any reason why I shouldn't use the iCloud email address? I really don't like gmail & don't want a Microsoft account. And Yahoo seems to be hacked all the time. Thank you!
