IMessaging won't forward messages with wi-fi

When I receive an iMessage on my 5c iPhone from another iPhone user, the message and/or photo that was sent will not show up with only wi-fi.  I rarely use cellular data, but when I do, messages drop in that never arrived with wi-fi.
Why aren't all messages coming through on wi-fi?

Hi flickrdoodles,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Take a look at the article linked below, it provides a lot of great troubleshooting tips that will resolve most issues sending and receiving iMessages.

  • Mail won't download messages with large attachments

    Mac OS 10.7.5
    Apple Mail 5.3 (1283)
When someone sends an email to me with an attachment of around 4 or 5 MB or larger (I haven’t quite figured out the size limit…it seems to vary a bit), Mail stops downloading all mail. I have to go into my webmail, remove the message with the attachment, and then all of a sudden Apple Mail will resume downloading e-mails from the server. Other computers in our office do not exhibit this behaviour, although they are using identical network, mail server (at Siteground, not managed by us), version of Mail, version of OS, etc.
When Mail exhibits this, I can ‘Get Info’ the account and I can see all the messages marked as from ‘Unknown sender’ and the e-mail sizes.
    How do I resolve this?

Try AttachedIn to send large attachments!
Very quick, easy to use and secured!

  • TS3276 When forwarding messages with pictures included, the pictures are deleted. This started when I updated OS X 10.8.2. How can I fix this?

Having trouble forwarding emails that contain pictures. The text is there but in place of the picture is a 'missing plugin' message. Never had this problem before but started after updating the mail thru Lion update.

    Back up all data.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Select the text on the line below by dragging across it. Don't include the blank space at the end of the line.
    sudo chmod -R -N
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). Click anywhere in the Terminal window, then paste (command-V). Press the space bar.
Now switch to the Finder and and select the item(s) that are causing the problem. Drag the items into the Terminal window. More text will be added to what you entered.
Click in the Terminal window to activate it, then press return.
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear. You can then quit Terminal.
    Test.

  • Imessage won't log on with apple ID

Hi, I'm having one of those software moments. oh well.
I'm using mountain lion with voiceover as a blind mac user, irrespective of that, I'm encountering a strange issue.
I'm using two macbook pro's.  My main machine is a 2010 macbook pro and all's fine with it. iMessage works fine, iCloud's behaving well, etc. my other macbook pro is a suped up 2007 edition again running mountain lion.
connections wise. macbook pro 2010 running over cabled ethernet, 2007 over wireless.
using one of those sky sagem routers that's known for it's shear idiocy.
Problem I'm encountering is this. I'm unable to properly connect or get anywhere through my apple ID and iMessage. When I try to sign in, I get I'm given the message Check your connection and try again. my internet connection's running fine.
iCloud seems to have issues as well with using back to my mac as it can't start the service but that's  for another day
if anyone can please assist could you please email me at [email protected] as I don't use the support site much and find it easier handling emails.
the strange thing is imessage works fine with my macbook pro 2010 and behaves fine. just not doing it on my 2007.
    cheers.

    Hi,
This is getting odder and odder.
Originally a Force Quit of IMAgent in Activity Monitor seems to resolve this for most people.
After a while this seemed to become less effective.
Then the suggestion was to add the ID to the iPhone first then add it to Messages on the Mac.
Again this worked for some for a while but then new people suggested it was not working for them.
Then  we tried deleting the com.apple.imessage.bag.plist  (the one that lists the Server)
and the com.apple.imservices.iMessages.plist (the one that holds your Apple ID and the aliases (eventually) that get linked to it) - either one at a time or in combo and restarting the app each time.
This again worked for some but people stated it dd not work for them.
A review of the threads like this suggested that using the "Contact Support" and getting an Apple person to look at the ID seemed to be the most successful.
However with your reply and extra work to test other bits that are involved seem to be leading nowhere again.
    I have a Sky Sagem Modem/router.
It says it is at version 2.8Sky
However it also lists "ADSL Firmware A2pB023o.d20h"
I have it blocked to remote updates.  (I previously had an update happen during a video chat but did not realise that was what was happening and powered down the device which effectively fried it.  It took two days to get a replacement.)
The page is date Sky 2006.  (I have not had it or the previous one that long).
    It is doing UPnP.

  • My iMessages won't verify/register with my phone number.

I have AT&T running iOS 6b3 and have just recently discovered this problem. ive tried all the normal stuff. nothing works.
it wasnt even a problem until recently my freinds said that they have two txt sessions/chats/whatever they are called (because i txt from mountain lion on my mac sometimes) and they dont know which to txt, and yet there are perfectly combined on mine... so strange. they cant txt with imessage to me from there macs/ipads/ipods because my number comes up as unregistered with iMessage.
Same as all the above with facetime.

And none of the various android devices making the android platform fragmented as all get out ever have any problems.
Be sure to purchase and use antivirus with your android since you'll certainly need it.

  • Cannot forward messages

I have four email accounts in Thunderbird. When I try to forward message with imbedded attachment I get a message that "Sending of message failed" "The message could not be sent....... SMTP server plus was lost in the middle of the transaction."
If I switch to another account to send, it works fine. I checked the setting and they are all the same.
    Win7 x64
    Thanks, Stewart

McAfee, but I've disabled it no change. And the problem is intermittent. Good thought though, Thanks

  • Cannot forward emails with pictures- it says missing plug ins

I cannot forward messages with pictures. It says "missing plug-ins" I tried saving the pictures but when I put them as attachments it says the same.

Are you sure your download of the images are complete?  Are these IMAP e-mails (iCloud uses iMac), POP e-mails, or Exchange?    Are you using Mac OS X Mail, or some other application for mail?

  • When I forward a message with pictures/formatting, it all turns to text. Where do I set an option to HTML instead of text?

I can forward the message with the formatting when I use "the other browser" by choosing OPTIONS, then HTML. I don't see how to do this in Firefox and it all turns to plain text.

I believe that if you turn off "Send As SMS: off in the settings, it should only attempt to send as an iMessage and should fail if iMessage is unavailable. It tries to send an iMessage a few times and then if unable, it will send as an SMS if you have that turned on.

  • IMessage won't work and no notifications at all for any messages please help

iMessage won't work I know there is a problem but now I'm not getting any text notifications please help! Won't even vibrate

If you are having trouble with SMS messages, then you would need to address that with your carrier, unless you are receiving them and just not get a notification. If you have followed the steps I gave you for iMessage and you are not receiving notifications, then check the settings for Notification Center. If you have Messages set to show on the lock screen and play a sound, and display a banner, etc. then your next step is a restore. First restore from a backup, and if that doesn't work, then restore as a new device. Restoring the phone will result in the loss of all data. Make sure you have backed up the phone, synced all content and imported photos to the computer.

  • IMessage won't work with 1 contact. (iOS7)

    iPhone 4s with iOS7
iMessage won't work with only 1 specific contact.
Prior to updating i was able to iMessage with the contact in question without issue.
Both of us updated to iOS7 yesterday, since then messages between us are Text Messages only. We screwed around with everything. We discovered if i send to his email address (checkmarked with iMessage) it works. ALSO...after searching and trying different things, he can send me iMessages from his number, but when i respond it switches SMSs . FaceTime also works.
It works with all my other contacts without issues.
    We both tried the following.
    - deleting eahcother as contacts,
    - resets (many)
    - turned off iMessage (reset network settings)
    - logging in and out of appleID in several locations
    - removed checkmarks from emails/phone number
    - on WiFi, on 3G
    - phone restore
Start new conversation: only my phone # is checkmarked. receinve, I have 3 emails and phone number
    any ideas?
